  1. Amanda, I am so excited for you......my PS didn't know how to deal with the band so my TT was not done properly and I have a huge amount of loose ripply skin on my midriff so yours sounds like a keeper. Having all of those testimonials to help you is wonderful, too. Mimi
  2. 54Shirley your advice is right on target and thank you for the testimonial. Those of us who have suffered need to share with new banders more. I wish the old timers would chime in a little more often....OK, a lot more often!!!! Mimi

    SC Band Buddy

They have a stiff fee not covered by insurance...Riverside Surgical doesn't charge that extra fee, but your practice has a very good rep, too. Mimi

    5th fill, first time swelling?

Seems like each adjustment has a learning curve.....Congratulations on being problem free for so long. You might end up needing a small unfill, but I believe when you learn what this fill will let you eat/not eat you will be fine. I had a fill the other day that is different from all prior fills and I am taking it slow as long as I can get liquids down and pee 3-4 times a day. It seems like it is at this point that I will lose the 10 pounds I keep losing and regaining. You might want to do liquids for a couple of days and let any swelling settle down. Best wishes, Mimi

    Dying of thirst...

If you have tinkled at least twice today give yourself 12-24 hours of stomach rest....total rest to see if the swelling will go down and sipping fluids will be tolerated.....if you haven't tinkled at all today I would call your dr/surgeon's answering service for advice. Someone has to be on call I think. I have lived through this many times and I wish you well....please keep posting your status and follow up. Mimi

    Lapband finale

When it works it is a wonderful thing....even if I have to self pay I can never go back to being unbanded or whatever the current technology is if I needed to change. Mimi
  11. I don't want to take your pleasure away for being a size 6...it is wonderful. 30 years ago...ok, 40 yrs ago I was a size 10 at the wt I am now and I am in a size 6 now, so I think the sizes have changed. I feel like bra sizes have changed to because the cup size I am now used to be an A+ or small B and now is a C. It is confusing. When the Aussies post their sizes as well as English, I think their sizes are more true to our old sizes. Whatever is going on, though, I LOVE declaring I am a size 6, LOL!!! Congratulations and best wishes as you go into the maintenance phase. Mimi

Lapband removed 2 weeks ago, scared of...

Oh, dear...you are living my biggest fear. I hope and pray you do well. My only suggestion is to try what worked in the past for you. Best wishes and good luck, Mimi
  13. So many nice posts that were fun to read......If dessert draws you the most have something off the appetizer menu and get the dessert...it is YOUR special celebration. Jackie....why can't you take out leftovers where you are? Mimi
  14. Me, too!!! After all, I had already gained and lost way past the point I needed to be for approval. And I had fun giving myself permission to eat all the yummies I had been depriving myself of!!! I also did the late in the day weigh in with ankle weights and said I was an inch shorter than I was. Good luck!!! Mimi

    At Home Sleep Study

It is a huge thriving business, for sure....I had read about a screening test but nothing as elaborare as described here!!! Mimi
  16. It is sometimes called third spacing or surgical hoarding and you will start voiding it out within 72 hours. Do not limit your fluid intake, one has nothing to do with the other. Don't be afraid it happens to almost everyone with all kinds of surgery, Mimi
  17. Gall bladder problems are preferable to gastroparesis...my fingers are crossed for you!!! Mimi

    Stalled

Unless you lost weight before you got to restriction you are being hard on yourself for what is a wonderful weight loss. Banded for 10 months, yes, but how long a working band? I wonder if you could readjust your self expectations and give up that year mark? I believe in taking a maintenance break of a few weeks (deliberate 2-4 weeks) right about now.....that would involve paying attention to exactly what your calories in and exercise out is. It also gives you time to assess how you feel about your self and your journey thus far. After a few weeks at this maintained weight you will know what you could change, reduce, eliminate, etc for 500 cal reduction a day and add 15 minutes of exercise to whatever you have been doing...Voila" weight loss should resume with you in a happier healthy place. Good luck and keep posting your journey. Mimi

    Holding myself accountable...

Only 10 months in and 66 pounds GONE!!!! Congratulations, you have done well...you are right in the middle of the safe rate of weight loss numbers. This way gives you time to adjust your self image and life. I wish you continued success. Mimi
  20. Sounds like you might have "gastroparesis" Read on it on a computer search if you are curious. I wish you the total best outcome.... Mimi.

    Band Remove/Pain

I think you need to call your surgeon and not go to work. Please be proactive and take care of yourself...frequently acute pain is an indicator for further evaluation. Mimi

    Breast lift with implants

I was told the same thing and decided to have itty bitty titties and I love them...no implants to worry about. I ended up a 34C which in the old days probably would be an A+, LOL, but I am happy!!!! Good luck on your decision making...it is a difficult decision. Mimi

    Re-banding After Lap Band Eroding

Well, first of all congratulations on being a survivor!!!!! I don't think a reband is in your future....they say it is a bad idea. Many ppl are very happy converting to a sleeve after lapband removal. If I slip again that is what I will do. Best wishes, Mimi
  24. Great story, congratulations!!!!! You are doing wonderfully and I believe you are motivated to reach your goal! Mimi

    slipped to re-banded

I had a slip followed by repositioning surgery...I am very careful with my band, but given the choice I would revise to a sleeve. Mimi
