Peaches, thanks for posting and I am glad you are feeling better!!!! I wish you continued success. Mimi -
Unfilled, relieved but sad
Mimilou2004 replied to lingra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lingra, you will do fine, especially if you log your food and remember to pretend you are on an old fashioned diet. I must admit I took advantage of being unfilled to eat EVERYTHING except pizza that I couldn't eat while banded. Ever since then I have been regretting missing the pizza, LOL!!!!! Best wishes, Mimi -
I hope I don't sound mean, but suck it up and stop cold turkey. I went from 7-8 cans a day to nothing and now drink Walmart brand crystal light orange by the Gallon. I miss the bubbles of my Diet Coke, but the one time I tried it post op I was in agony with stuck burps. I do wish you the best of luck. Mimi

breast lift/implants before reaching goal?
Mimilou2004 replied to CantB2noty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree you should wait. I am at goal and the difference between where my breasts were 30 pounds ago and now is enormous. They were horrible and now they are worse...at least 34 long, LOL. Invest in the recommended garments and hang in there and wait. Mimi -
Is each visit billed or until fill is right?
Mimilou2004 replied to juanfa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on fills. If the fills are not included in your original surgery price then you pay for every fill, period. It usually takes several visits until you are at good restriction. If you have a problem that needs an unfill, you start all over again paying for fills. Good luck, Mimi -
It's Allie's turn for plastics!
Mimilou2004 replied to allielee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am glad you took a nap after all that activity. I am sorry about your uneven ness, Maybe they will end up matching anyway, even w/o a revision. Were you too tired to try stuff on at V. Secret? Mimi -
Fanny Moves to Phase Two
Mimilou2004 replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Fanny, I am hoping my PS gives me more advice when I see him on 12/22. That is when he will see within a week or so what he is actually going to be working on. The last time I saw him I was about 23 pounds heavier and when all those pounds left they left me with deflated socks, too. I am glad your PS is going to do you all at once, for health and economic reasons. I wish I could make up my mind on the implants....I don't mind being an A+ or a B but I don't want flat boobs and there doesn't seem to be a way to predict it ahead of time. One day I think yes get implants, next day not. I am glad you will get what you want......and SOON!!!!!! Mimi -
Ahhh. Stomach Flu= Total unfill :(
Mimilou2004 replied to mellabella78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mella, I hope your doc gave you an anti nausea prescription for next time. You have a good attitude and this 2 weeks will be over soon. I am sorry it happened, though. Good luck, Mimi -
Unfilled, relieved but sad
Mimilou2004 replied to lingra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel your pain, truly. Especially when I gained 12 pounds in the 2 weeks of unfill. However, that being said, it was a temporary setback and I went on to reclaim my fills slowly and started losing again. I wish you the best and please keep exercising!!!! Mimi -
Yesterday my PA drew back and reinjected my fluid 3 times. It really made me swell up and I PB'd my protein shake out the car door!!!! I wish they wouldn't manipulate the fluid, yet they have to withdraw some to make sure they are in the right place!!!! Oh, well, the swelling went down pretty fast this time. Mimi

I think it would be a good idea to get a little fill. It is possible that as you maintained (CONGRATULATIONS!!!!) the 140 pounds you body composition changed and you lost fat and weight between your band and stomach. This would make the band a little looser. I can't tell you how proud of you I am for maintaining, because it is the one thing I am afraid I will fail at. I know how to gain and I know how to lose, but maintenance is a new story!!! Good luck, Mimi

7days out n this port still hurts
Mimilou2004 replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port hurt off and on for 3-4 weeks. It still bothers me if I lay on the stability ball doing exercises. It will get better, though, I promise. After all, it is stitched onto your abdomenal muscles. Good luck!!! Mimi -
So after all that you ended up with NO fill at all? That stinks, especially since he is so far away!!!! I agree with you he should have tried 2 or 3 cc. Good luck, Mimi

It's Allie's turn for plastics!
Mimilou2004 replied to allielee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Allie, you cracked me up!!!!! My vice when unfilled will be thick crust cheese pizza with extra cheese!!!!! Gotta admire you for going for it, knowing you won't be able to enjoy it so much or at all later on!!!! Thanks for the heads up on the stool softeners, I will stock up on them. Sorry for your technicolor bewbies, I hope they don't hurt. I am happy for you that you felt so good this morning. Excellent progress. And shopping online with points was a great thing. Mimi -
I have had that problem where as the fill went in I felt the need to burp and sometimes couldn't. The times it happened and I didn't say anything I ended up overfilled and going back for an unfill. I don't know what it means, though, I just know it has happened. Good luck. Mimi

Thankful for my band on Thanksgiving
Mimilou2004 replied to neatodeano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I, too, did well, and honor everyone else who struggled with all the bountiful food. I lost 6 pounds over the holiday but must confess it was because I was a little too tight and got a little unfill yesterday. I am still happy for the loss, though. Now we have to face all the Christmas goodies!!!!! Mimi -

Skinnyjeans turn for a flat tummy
Mimilou2004 replied to skinnyjeans's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am sorry work took so much out of you, I wish you could do half days for a while. It is distressing your son wants to quit.....maybe he could take EMT classes at night and keep going to school? I will wish you the best it is a difficult time for you. I didn't write down the password, could you repost it when you have more strength and time? Oh, I know, I will scroll up and find it. Sorry, didn't mean to be lazy. I hope you feel perkier soon. All the best, Mimi -
There are many theories about plateaus, and bottom line, you have to live with them. My trainer says it isn't really a plateau if it is less than 3 weeks at standstill, it is just the body adjusting. I wanted to believe it. She always cranks up my cardio a bit and looks at my food log to make sure I haven't increased my salty food intake which causes water shifts. Some weeks I would gain one and then lose 2 in a couple of days with no obvious reason!!! Also, taking weekly measurements is very important for morale. The weeks the scales didn't move the tape measure did and was very reassuring. Congratulations on your loss so far and best wishes. Mimi

Fanny Moves to Phase Two
Mimilou2004 replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Fanny, I just went back and read your whole thread and am so happy for you. You are going to be so happy when you are done. I am 4 wks behind you for boobs and arms, then in March my TT and maybe breast augmentation. I will see how the girls look for an older woman. They have been having play dates with yours in th Antartic!!!!! If they were any further south they would be tickling my belly button. Wt loss really deflated them!!! Anyway, I am excited for you and glad you updated your thread. Mimi -
Is this my sweet spot?
Mimilou2004 replied to peaches36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Peaches, our stories sound close to the same. I didn't enjoy T'giving....every 4 or 5 bites I had to go use the restroom to urp. I lost 6 pounds in 11 days and finally went in yesterday for a little unfill. As soon as the PA saw how much wt I lost she pronounced I was too tight. We negotiated how much she would remove and I am much happier today. I was honest and asked the same thing you did.....am I at my sweet spot or a little too tight? She did tell me that being a little tight first thing in the morning was normal and as long as I was OK later in the day not to worry. Go to your appt and have an honest dialog with your care giver, then repost here and tell us what transpired, OK? Best wishes, Mimi -

Wow, I Never Thought I Would Get To Post Here!
Mimilou2004 replied to laughnleo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations and welcome to bandland. I hope you have an easy recovery, but don't hurry to exercise unless you doc OK's it. Except for walking, of course. Best wishes, Mimi -
Try not to weigh yourself more than 1-2 times a week and as another poster suggested take your measurements once a week. I strongly believe in keeping a food and exercise log, I refer to it frequently especially when the scales are being strange . Best wishes, Mimi
