    face lift after weight loss

I will be 60 in a few months!! I do not think Fraxel would help the arms, I am happy with my old fashioned arm tuck now that the scars are fading...those batwings were horrible. Fraxel is very expensive, unfortunately.

    face lift after weight loss

Congratulations on your journey...I hd several fraxel laser treatments along my journey and was spared a lot of face looseness for a long time...now I am seeing the wrinkling you talk about and I don't like it. Thank you for posting. Mimi

Now done, do I reduce the fill?

From what you have described, I think it would be OK to stay the same or get a tiny 0.2 adjustment and see what the scales do. I have been struggling with maintenance for a few months and it is just as much work as losing the weight. I actually had to increase my exercise to go along with less fill in my band. The good part of more exercise is you can have planned for calories from "forbidden" items. Maintenance is hard work and I wish you the best. Mimi
  4. Wow, you are in a tough place....sometimes slips will resolve after several weeks but many times more surgery has to happen to reposition the band and re stitch it down. Ppl here have posted about both outcomes. Use the search feature for this subject posts. Good luck. Mimi
  5. Adrianna, I don't want to hijack this thread but my journey has been ongoing and learning is a daily occurence!!! I was banded in Oct of 2008 and started losing (after post op gain of 15 pounds) 4 months later when I finally started getting restriction. Best wishes, Mimi
  6. Hi, Leah, thank you for posting....ignore my question on your other post as you just answered it wonderfully. Your information was spot on and I appreciate it. I am so worried about being obese again!!!! I was 125.1 this morning and wonder if they would still do the bypass if my band slips again? I am babying it like crazy.....not with slider food, but by not pushing the quantity of food I eat at one time. Mimi
  7. I do wish you luck, but why not the sleeve? Mimi

    Pictures

You are doing so well....Congratulations. Mimi
  9. Get up and walk walk walk....it is not band tightness, most likely is is the leftover blow up gas they put in your belly. The body takes several days to absorb and leave the body. Mimi

    Tricare Standard - South Region

I have Tricare South Standard and there is NO requirement for 6 month dieting....I swear!!! The only real requirements are that the weight for height standard be fulfilled. It only took a few days for approval. Use the Tricare website for standards but look under the heading Gastric Bypass, trust me on that location for band standards. Mimi

Not having fun with my first fill

I, too, have that strange throat ball thing....and then give a little burp...the PA backs off a tiny bit from there and then I am fine...it sounds like you need a very very tiny adjustment. You are wise to not "tough it out". Mimi
  12. I was afraid of that and when I reread the standard it was pretty clear that Sleeve would not be an option. I am sorry you lost your band, I don't know if I could be as brave as you and get the bypass at my age (basically 60). Thanks for responding, Mimi
  13. Good luck and happy recovery. I am so glad you are a candidate for rebanding. I went without mine for 5 months and I knew I needed its help very much. Best wishes. Mimi

    Breast Uplift (Mastopexy)

I agree that closer to stable goal wt would be best.....Plastics do not want ppl to lose much after surgery or they will sag again and gaining will stretch the scars. I did manage to gain because of band problems and this happened to me. That being said, get a couple of consults then take your time to make your decision. By the way..now that my scars are faded, I love my new itty bitty boobies. I didn't get implants and have no regrets, although of course many ppl love theirs. Good luck and keep us posted. Mimi

    Antiinflammatories?

You are so very right, Mel, about the systemic effect. My docs are OK with NSAIDS but from hard experience I limit myself to 2 days in a row then skipping several days. Many articles have been written that 600mg or more is the thresh hold for the inflammatory effect to kick in, although of course there are many schools of thought. For sure we must be cautious about NSAIDS, banded or not. Mimi

Confessions of a Bander Who Knows Better

I am sorry for your loss, you have had a rough time and now you have chosen to focus on getting healthy again. Please be kind to yourself...maybe ease into things instead of being so rigid all or nothing......cut back on snacks and desserts but do plan for them by increasing your exercise. You can do this, you have proven yourself and now is the time to get healthy and fit again. Congratulations to you and your hubby for the great weight loss overall!!!! You have come a long way. Mimi

    Arm Lipo in the morning

Wow, very interesting and so non barbaric like mine? 2 whole pounds is incredible...I can't imagine!!!!! I can't wait for the swelling to go down and you to post a picture. I would post a current arm shot of me but the flash washes out the scars and it is a waste of time....as long as I don't move or lift my arms or wear non-long sleeve tops I am fine!!! Mimi

    Arm Lipo in the morning

I am excited for you and eager to have you post ALL about it!!! I had a traditional arm reduction and am left with mixed feelings about what was done and how it was done. Best wishes, Mimi

    Antiinflammatories?

This thread always has interesting advice. I like it because I constantly have tendinitis, bursitis, aches and pains from working out....I keep telling my trainer that I am too old to work as hard as I do and she laughs at me. I think we don't use cold therapy enough because it is uncomfortable, but boy does it help. Edamame/Soy Beans make the best cold pack...even better than green peas. And you can make so many sizes with zip lock type bags. For NSAIDS I take 1 oz of children's Ibuprofen which equals 600mg chased with a big glass of water. I like the idea of a PPI for stomach protection and I like the liquid ibuprofen because it doesn't hang out in the pouch. Mimi

Still too fat for cosmetic surgery?

You have interesting points. First off, that doctor and you do not share YOUR vision....I think seeing 2 or 3 more PS would be a good thing. Since you are where YOU want to be, don't let just 1 set the tone. I will tell you that a thigh lift can be hell, especially with certain body types and situations. I had the money all lined up and when I was told by the PS all that it would entail...I said thanks but no thanks. There is another poster Sue Ham that had one recently and seems happy...so there are 2 of the many points of view. I wish you luck and hope you post about your journey. Mimi
  21. Wow, what a story...I am glad they finally found the problem and fixed it....you did so good to lose those 20 pounds and keep them off!!! Happy recovery! Mimi
  22. I know what you are going through....I had a revision/repositioning because unfilling didn't work. It was a difficult time because during the 4 months it was unfilled and the refilling started I gained over 30 pounds. Ppl will post that you don't necessarily have to gain wt, and I agree, but I was voraciously hungry again without my band. The band revision is so far so good, but if it slips again it can't be fixed and I will try to get a sleeve approved by my insurance. I wish you the best of luck. Mimi
  23. You have certainly come a very long way....!!! Congratulations and thanks for posting. Mimi

I have Tricare Standard and totally agree with everything Dave said. Mimi
