  3. Hey! Good to hear from you. Glad to hear you are doing well. I have lost 27 pounds so far but I am totally at a standstill...i havent lost anything in over a week. I am on mushies mainly, but the doctor told me to slowly add normal foods. I am with you on the drinking more water thing though...I just cant seem to get it all in. Have you been able to start exercising yet? My doc wont release me until I am 6 weeks postop...I am gonna start doing a zumba class with a few of my friends...cant wait for that! Take care and keep up the good work! Kristy

  4. Hello,

Just checking in with you to see how you're doing! I'm doing ok so far. Im loosing weight gradually. So far between pre-op diet and after surgery is 24lbs. I can't tell by seeing but my clothes are difinitely getting looose. I know I need to start drinking more water and I should start loosing more. I have my first fill on March 8th. I still get hungry but my choices have been much better, I have no restriction right now either which is fustrating

  5. My surgery date is January 19th, coming so fast.... My second day on my liquid diet.... Today is much better than yesterday. Praying that everyone going into surgery has a safe journey and quick recovery.
  6. Hey Kharissa,

Congrats on the surgery date! Thats wonderful! I am on day 4 of the liquid diet ...its not as bad as I has thought it would be. But then I figured I would be passed out by noon on the first day! LOL! So anything is better than that right?! I have not been hungry...i drink some of my liquids ever 1.5 hours or so...2 (EAS ADVANTEDGE from walmart is what i am drinking now, but i want ISOPURE from GNC or UNJURY sold online) shakes a day and i drink half at a time. I think the key is to never let yourself get HUNGRY. I havent really had any cravings although last night i had a dream I ate a taco. LOL! I am tired and kinda sluggish and very emotional. I will cry on the drop of a dime...and I am not normally that way. I am getting around 500 calories a day and it just has my system all out of whack. Dont psych yourself out about it...its tough, but it really is a mental thing. You will be fine with it...we can do this!

  7. My surgery date is 01/19/09 sooooo excited!!! Good luck and let me know how everything goes. I know we all can do it. Just think of ourselves 6 months down the road. Thats what keeps me going.
  8. Hey! Hows the liquid diet going? Was it hard the first day? What were your cravings like.... My surgery date is for the 19th of January. I start my liquid diet for 7 days starting 01/12/10... I'm so excited and scared all in one ball!! Keep me updated on how your doing so we can support eachother... Kharissa

  9. Hey Peaches, just wanted to touch base and see how you are doing. i start my preop liquids on Monday....ugh. Hope all is well and KIT!

  10. Yes!! I'm so excited, nervous, anxious all in one. I go for my Pre-Op visit on January the 4th and I'll find out my date for surgery that day. I'm going for the 21st of January. I don't want to mess this up , I've been going to appoinments and through insurance set backs for over a year. Thank God I finally got approved!!! I'll pray for everyone up here that we stick with it and go forward with our lives. Have you started your pre-op diet? What did it consist of? Keep me updated on what you go through and how you feel. Kharissa

    Yay, I'm finally banded!

Congrats!!! What are you eating in the first weeks after surgery, and are you real hungry? I also wanted to know if after you began to loose weight did you notice in your clothes first or with the numbers.
  12. What type of eating changes did you make and do you have any sample menu plans that are easy to accompish with three kids? I'm excited and nervous that this will be my last chance at freedom.... as far as weight is concerned . Thanks for your help!
  13. I'm in East Hartford, Ct I'm with Dr. Papasavas. So far they're great! No real issues, just playing the waiting game. Wish me luck. How was it after surgery with saying no to sweets? I love sweets, and I'm trying to ween my self off. IT's extremely hard.
  14. Had my last nutritional visit!!! they will be submitting after this. Wish me luck! I have my psych visit on Sept 9th and hopefully I'll know or talk about a surgery date

    Who Am I?

My name is Kharissa, and I'm 26 years old as you all probally can see. I have three children and decided to have the lap band surgery. My first consultation visit is on August 19th 2008. I'm nervous and excited to get this part of my life started with. The first thing that I'm doing to start this out right is cutting back on my junk food. I hope this is a good way to start. I feel like I have to learn how to eat all over again and this I find to be the hardest part. Everyone is saying to me that you have to stop suddenly, but I find that changing the way the whole family eats is very slow process. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to start the whole family eating healthier that way when my operation gets approved I'll be ready.
