  4. Yay I was cleared for surgery and its on Sept 18th!!! I've started my pre-op diet, but I have a question. My pre-op diet consists of only 4 and a half cans of slim fast a day (thats what the doctor told me). Thats only 800 calories!!! I'm having a really hard time not being hungry and craving other foods. Am I allowed to eat anything else, this is rough? Anybody have any tips? When he told me about the pre-op diet and what was required I responded with "If I could just have 4 cans of slim fast a day for 2 weeks, do you think I would be getting this surgery in the first place?" He just chuckled. Good luck to all the pre-op dieters out there! HeavyK
  5. SusieC, I'm a new member too and from what little amount of time I've been on here I can tell you that there are a number of people with Tri Care. Maybe do a search for Tri Care in the forums and maybe you will probably be able to get some more information. Also, you can try to contact Tri Care and ask what is required for them to pay for it. Good Luck!
  6. Howdy Y'all I was told I need to join a support group for lap banding and I decided that I would try this one. I guess I need to tell everyone a little bit about myself. I've had weight problems all my life. I was one of the youngest people ever to join weight watches at age 7!!! Since then its been a constant cycle of Fat...Thin...Fat...Thin. I've done it all in regards to diets. I finally decided I wanted to do the lap band. So in Oct. 07 I started my journey of going to see a doctor who then referred me to surgeon. I had no idea how long it would take to get to the point where I would even be allowed to have surgery. So I finished up my 6 month diet (required by insurance), and last week I had my nutritional evaluation and psychological evaluations. I was told today that I passed everything. I was a little worried about he psych eval !!! They said I passed, but I'm still a little nutty. So they are suppose to turn it into insurance today or tomorrow for final review and see if I get approved. I'm starting to get a little worried about that after reading this forum. So thats pretty much my whole story.
