  1. Hi everyone! I am really confused right now. I am two years post op and I have lost a total of 140 lbs. I am very happy about that (ecstatic!) but I am trying to get those last pesky pounds off. I 'fell off the wagon' for awhile and I am trying to get back on track. I lost all the weight practically without trying (other than focusing on walking and getting my Protein in) I have a Caribbean vacation coming up in 8 months and I want to wear a bikini comfortably. My question: What should my caloric intake be? After calculating my BMI with my base metabolic rate it says that I should be eating about 1450 calories a day to burn fat, I should also work out 3-5x/week (Cardio and weights) and eat back half the calories I expend. (Just seems like a lot of food to eat, I'm not used to being told to eat more lol) I was eating about 1000-1150 calories/day but I feel weak and tired, trying to get my Water in too and protein. My weight didn't budge at all after three weeks and I was exercising about 3-4 week (cardio, kettlebells and yoga) my muscles were burning and I wanted to sleep Should I be looking at eating 1300 calories/day? Is this right for post op weight loss patients that are 20 lbs from their goal weight? Am I eating too few calories and causing my body to stall out and go into 'starvation mode'? Any ideas would be great thank you! Janelle

Post op question- further weight loss

Thank you so much for your comments I am sure I left out a lot of important information. Between feb 2013-December 2013 was a 'screw it' phase. I lost most of my weight by January 2013 and shortly afterwards I hit a family crisis, had a job that stressed me out to the point I got strep and I was eating all high calorie junk food to combat the extreme fatigue and lack of exercise. I would estimate I would eat around 1300-2000 calories a day in junk food, that's really embarrassing to say and other days I would have maybe two meals. I'm lucky I haven't harmed myself more than I have. Working hard to the better future I deserve just trying to figure out what is the best plan.

Exhausted, sick frequently and scared, help!

I appreciate everything! I spoke to my surgeon and he sent me to my primary. I just made an appointment for this next week. I'll keep you posted. Hope I Can get this figured out soon!
  4. Hey guys! It's been a long time since I've been on here, too long! Kind of a confession if doing a bad job.... So here it goes... I've lost 160lbs and I couldn't be happier! BUT! I don't know what's wrong with me anymore. My labs are ok, I had mild anemia that resolved but other than that nothing is obviously wrong clinically. Here is what I'm experiencing: -extreme fatigue -my body itches -my brain is fuzzy -sometimes it's hard to concentrate -tingling in my toes and sometimes my fingers -gas, cramping, bouts of diarrhea every other week -nausea on and off Those are my main symptoms. I don't have diabetes. I don't have thyroid problems (specifically checked for that) the only thing I can think of is I'm pretty sure I have a gluten intolerance and I'm not drinking enough water consistently. (I'll up my water for two or three days then go back to a liter for a couple days then up it again) My diet hasn't been great (too many carbs and junk food), i just started taking protein powder again, I've been drinking beer 2-3 times a week and I don't work out. I get sick really easily if I over exert myself. All of that I know I have to change immediately and will do but is there something I'm missing? Is anyone else having these issues? What really scares me is the exhaustion and brain foggyness. Please help!!! Anything will help thank you!

Thank you so much for your responses. I am going to start taking my B-12 again (sub lingual). What is is Q 10? I will be getting my food ready for a gluten free diet. I will try it for about two weeks then I will let you know! I have an appointment to see my surgeon on the 16th. Thank you again!

Anyone With Lap Band In San Diego

Soexcited: Hi! I live in San Diego! Actually, it sounds like I live just down the street from you! I am planning to get banded at UCSD, could you please share with me a little about your journey? Thanks so much! ~Nell
  8. Hey guys and gals! I am fairly new to Lap Band Talk and I have recently decided to stop dancing around the idea and go for the Band 100%. But now I am in a weird spot...I have decided to get the Band but we are switching insurances (new job) and it will take a little while to get the ball rolling. So, I was just wondering if anyone has tips from now until I get my Band. Anything to help me get through this time would be much appreciated! It feels like I've packed up my house and I'm waiting on the front porch for the moving truck to take me to my new and wonderful destination but the wait is agonizing! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
  9. Hi moo! Its been awhile since I've been on here! I live over in Poway area and I'm definately looking for a semi-mentor/guide throughout this whole journey. Still at beginning stages of banding but I hope to be moving along soon! Have a great day :-)

    In Limbo Here....HELP!

Haha, I have been staying away from shopping as much as possible  I like to lay in bed before I go to sleep and fantasize about being able to put my shoes on without grunting! I did medifast for about 7 months and lost 90lbs but gained almost all of it back. It has been about 5-6 months since I did the diet so I am hoping that the insurance company will take that. I am just getting so annoyed waiting! Thanks for your support and good luck!
  12. Hi MissMelo! How are you? Where are you from? I am waiting for our switch to a new insurance carrier before I go in for my consultation. I am really worried that it won't go well and/or I will be denied ugh. How are you doing post-op?

    New Here. Friends?

Hi! My name is Janelle and I have just started on the journey to get my Band. I am extremely excited but also scared haha. I've researched the heck out of the Band from the medical standpoint but I know I will need someone to speak to about daily life with the Band.

On the precipice of a new body

Hey guys! First post here! So my sister and I are beginning the journey this Friday to finding out if we are eligible for the Lap-Band. I have a twin sister and yes we look exactly alike...unfortunately that also pertains to our body types. We both have gone around and around with the decision to do this. She had made her choice and I have made mine. We understand that this is a personal choice and I am very excited, and scared about it. If anyone could drop me a line and let me know their experiences so far with the Lap Band I would really appreciate it. We both need support on this....I just know that if I don't do something drastic now...I'll pay for it later (looking back three generations on my mother's side) Please let me know!
