  1. I'm sure you are not alone. I'm only on day 2 but my diet isnt similar. After seeing more and more of the variety of diets I still can't wrap my head around why some do the strict liquid diets but I'm also not a doctor. I wish I could offer more support there. Your feelings are 100% valid in everything your feeling. Is there a way you are able to maybe separate from your family for a few days so maybe the temptations aren't right in front of you? As a single mom, this is definitely a challenge for me so I totally get not being able to. What are the liquids youre drinking? did they tell you exactly what you should have? You're so close to surgery day! Hang in there, we're all rooting for you!

    Telling others

So this is something I have been struggling lately with tremendously. I talked to my parents when I decided that surgery is what I wanted to do (after 2 years of contemplating it). I just spoke with my 12-year-old daughter over the weekend since my surgery is getting close and there will be some drastic changes in the home for a while. I haven't really thought much of telling anyone until a few weeks ago when I bumped into a close mutual friend in one of my classes that I had no idea was going through the program as well. Immediately my heart kinda sunk because I knew if some of my close inner circle found out without it coming from me they would probably feel a little hurt I didn't feel like I could talk to them. I'm not embarrassed or trying to hide it. My dad's reaction was about what I expect most will respond with, not too much understanding since I have lost the weight before and was able to maintain it for a few years. I don't want to not tell people and feel like a fraud or try to dupe anyone that it was all on my own. I agree that I don't owe anyone an explanation... I just feel a little defeated the more I think about it.

    August surgery buddies!

I have, and this is what was recommended to me by my team. Also, I should note that we were highly encouraged not to use "vitamin gummies, patches, doTerra supplements, extended-release formulas, Tespo pods, gel caps, or vitamin capsules" and are not recommended. We even had to sign off on a form stating that we won't use them due to they don't accurately carry all the nutrients they say they have in them. Ask your doctor if it's okay for you to use though, worth asking. With that being said this is what I have purchased off amazon and all that was recommended to me: Bariatric Advantage - Calcium Citrate Chewable (500mg) Wild Cherry, 270 Count Tablets $72.80 ( 3x daily) Bariatric Advantage - Ultra Solo Once-Per-Day Mutivitamin (Capsules Without Iron, 90 Count) $66.30 (1 daily) Bariatric Advantage Iron Chewy Bite Chocolate Raspberry Truffle (30 mg iron, 60 mg vitamin c) 30 count $20.80 (1 nightly- not to take within two hours of any dairy products, calcium supplements, coffee or tea. ) Bariatric Advantage B-12 Speedy Melts (Black Cherry, 90 Count) $23.40 ( will take once a week) I'm not quite sure why they have you do the multivitamin without Iron when you end up taking the iron but I tend to follow directions to a T. Hope this helps!

    August surgery buddies!

Absolutely this has crossed my mind, and I'm sure others. Take it one day at a time. You're not on a diet, you're making decisions that will change your life for the better. It's not one day at a time, it's one meal at a time. There are always healthier options. It's ok to have foods that may not be so "good" for you but to make sure it's not a consecutive thing that is happening more often than choosing the better options. I'm terrible about my mind always going to the negative but I've slowly started to learn that I have to think positive if I want positive changes. You got this, keep your head up, and know you have an entire community here to lean on when you need it.

    August surgery buddies!

I have stairs in my home too. I spoke with a few nurses and they said that I shouldn't have any problems but leaving the possibility I might be camping out on the couch for a bit. Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app

    August surgery buddies!

That is really cutting it tight, but I understand why. I plan on taking a week and a few days. Thankfully I work for family and my job itself is a desk job so my doctor said she didn't think it would be a big deal if I decided to go back sooner. I expect out energy levels will be pretty low. It's definitely nerve racking but super excited for a next chapter in your life. Maybe try writing down all your reasons why and sticking it on your bathroom mirror as a daily reminder! Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app

    August surgery buddies!

I've been doing the same! I've been doing some major deep cleaning in my home and just slowly packing and ordering what I'm going to be needing. The recliner is a great idea, I considered doing the same, but I figured I have an adjustable bed, we will see how that goes.

    August surgery buddies!

August 2nd surgery buddy here! Have you seen what your "liquid diet" consists of from your team yet? I've talked with a few others on here and noticed mine is a little more forgiving. I decided to do a test run this week and I'm 3 days in. I honestly feel good. I actually find it hard to get everything in with all the liquids. I occasionally feel pretty tired but then not long after I get a burst of energy and take advantage of it when I can.
  15. See that's what is kind of throwing me for a loop, according to the booklet I received I am able to have additionals aside from liquids. I have my final group nutrition class in a few weeks so I'll get more information then. Just surprised I could have more than liquids. Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. August 2nd! I was told I start my pre-op diet on the 19th. Has anyone seen what their pre-op diet is looking like? Curious to compare.
  17. This may be a silly question and truthfully I'm just impatient. Anyone that has gotten any tattoos pre/post opp, what was your time frame? I'd like to get a small forearm tattoo in memory of my brother that passed a year ago. I haven't gotten my surgery date but I know they will be contacting me this week to set it up in mid-late July. I clearly don't want to risk any hold up on my surgery, but I'm also just trying to get a time frame. Any insight is appreciated. [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Tattoo Timing

I'm not really concerned about being asked about it as much as possible risks. The body is already trying to heal one thing and then adding another on top of it, ya know. That time frame def. helps, thanks! It will help too when I actually get a set date, but again... just impatient lol.

    Post Surgery Dreams

Ah, that breaks my heart. We are set to go to Disney at the end of September and the thought of that happening to me has been motivation. Most of their rides are accommodating but my daughter is small and it's so dangerous on the roller coasters when the bar doesn't meet the other person properly. It sucks the the things you plan out in your head of happening and how to avoid it. I look forward to not having to do that anymore. Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post Surgery Dreams

The restaurant booth is one I look forward to as well. There were so many times I cringed going out to dinner for the simple thought of being put in some of the booths. Seatbelts on planes as well. I've never had to ask for an extension but I'm ready for not having to have it fully extended to its max. Jeans... I haven't worn them comfortably in about 4 years and I look forward to feeling good in my clothes again. Sent from my SM-G991U using BariatricPal mobile app
