Thats awesome, congrats! I feel like I'm always pushing those final oz's at night. 😫

I was shocked when she told me about the Iron because I never miss taking my supplement and always make sure I take it right before bed. Vitamin C is to help absorb so hopefully no more concerns. Thank you! Was feeling a little defeated but they are always super encouraging.

I think that is probably the issue. You weren't being very clear. "The complaints (they are complaints, right?)" - I'm not sure if you intended to be funny here or what your actual intent was. Instead of maybe showing a little compassion it just came across dickish right off the bat. My personal take of course. Even if her complaints had been going on for years maybe there are underlying reasons why and she just hadn't gone in depth. I personally went 14 years in a miserable relationship for my child and also because financially I didn't think I'd be able to make it on my own. Everyone has their own reasons. You literally never know the battles someone is going through. SpartanMaker, can I just say I really appreciate your thoughts💙 Sometimes we need just to vent and a listening ear. My daughter reminds me often when she is venting to me... " Mom I'm not looking for a voice of reason right now, I need a hype man".

I was in a relationship (married 4 yrs) with an alcoholic & addict for 14 years. I wouldn't wish that lifestyle on anyone. Last January dropped 150 lbs (officially divorced my ex-husband), Best decision I ever made. Have you ever gone to any Al-Anon group meetings? I found them really helpful.

4-week update* I went in for labs last week. Today I found out I was low on Iron even with my supplement. The surgeon's assistant told me to double my dose and add vitamin C. I also was told to lower my physical activity. I'm burning too much for what my body is taking in so it's causing my body to hold on to everything and stall out. She said once I start hitting 800 calories then I can go back to my normal walking routine (7,000-10,000 steps a day). I was pretty disheartened by that because I was ready to up my physical activity. I also got scolded for using laxatives and to only use stool softeners right now (I expected that). I'm 43lbs down from my highest. 13.8 from my surgery.

Exactly! I totally agree. Hows the saying go "we're all in the same storm different boats" or something like that. Doesn't mean I'm not side eyeing those other boats 👀😂

It is, and I'm not disregarding my overall weight loss. My post-surgery loss just has me discouraged at this point. 21 days in and I was hoping for more. The 2nd-week early stall was sooooo frustrating. I also compare myself hard by nature. I am also taking a family trip to Disney World at the end of September, just hoping to be closer to that 200lb mark. I am looking forward to having the ok from my doctor to start working out again, walking every day and not being able to really switch up my routine has me a little crazy.

I'm curious about everyone's response to this as well. I lost about 9 lbs the first week. 0 in the 2nd week. 3lbs in the 3rd week and just began my 4th. I was laying in bed super discouraged & couldn't fall asleep because I was running through everything I've consumed and my physical activity in the last 3 weeks and just feel like I should be further along.

I was in the same boat and took Dulcolax and that helped a lot. I still am taking it every few days.

The vanilla ones taste like melted ice cream. I totally agree, they def. taste like a cheat & I love that they have so much protein/

That's really unfortunate the type of care you are receiving. Tired... yes. I feel a lot more exhausted than I was before. Sometimes I get bursts of energy so I try to take as much advantage of it as I possibly can. I really hope it starts to get better for you!

Post Op Gastric Sleeve - Did they take anything out?
SHORTY_ replied to Boarderamanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly really questioned it the first week. It wasn't for a couple of days of pureed foods till I started to notice the restriction. Now I almost get frustrated because I feel like I have so little and get full so quickly. -
Post op blood thinner
SHORTY_ replied to Kpwildrose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just finished my two weeks of these and initially when I was told I totally panicked. I was basically told to stick in the lower belly, I noticed the fattier the area the smoother the needle goes in. The burning sensation isn't fun, but it lasts about 30 min and leaves the area tender. I despise needles so I feel your pain! -
5lbs in 7 days is great! Keep in mind the pre-op diet is to help you shrink your liver not necessarily lose weight.

Watch this brief YouTube. It's a great explanation for the scale stall.
-
Thats so awesome congrats!!
-
That's exactly when I stalled out for a week. I had lost about 10 pre-op & 9 post op so I was trying not to kick myself too hard. it's been almost a week since I hopped back on the scale. It's currently shark week for me so I was waiting till it ended to hop on again since I tend to be heavier. My doctor told me not to watch the scale too hard in the first month anyways.
-
You are absolutely not alone in that possible failure feeling. I've been feeling it hard this past week. I finally decided to take a break from my scale. I've been looking for nonscale victories instead. I tried on a shirt that was way too tight 6 months ago, also thinking to myself I should probably return it and never did. I saw it in my closet the other day and tried it on. I was almost in tears at how good it looked and so proud of how far I'd come. The lbs aren't going to melt off in a day, with that being said I actually am starting to feel a lot of pressure from my family that knows I had surgery. I feel like their expectations now that I had the surgery are as if I just had lipo. It kinda stresses me out that the scale isn't moving like id like it to and I feel like I have all eyes on me waiting for me to fail.

It took me about a week for me to notice the restriction. Honestly, I had felt the same, almost to the point of thinking did they really take out 80% of my stomach? By the end of the 2nd week, I started to notice more of the full feelings, and my body started to reject things that days prior I was having no issues getting down. I notice the fullness in my lower chest. A pressure but not the feeling of being overly full. Pace yourself with bites. I noticed I was taking my bites too quick at first and not allowing my body time to really figure out if I was done or not. Almost gave myself about a full min or two before I took another. Which honestly was hard because well for 32 years I've been eating the same way I always had so trying to completely change the way I eat has been a small struggle.
-
I'm on week 3 post-op. I definitely have those thoughts about buyer's remorse. Do I regret it? I don't. But I can see how many do. This has been such a mental struggle for me. I'm having a really hard time eating anything, especially cheese. I'm getting to the point I'm almost scared to eat anything that isn't a liquid.

I've been able to drive just fine personally. I also never took any of the pain medication though so that has played a huge factor.

I started back to work late last week. I was getting really stir crazy. I actually feel great and am just ready to settle into my new routine. My energy has been up by the end of the day which I was really worried about. I even got some extra steps in last night on the tredmill. Everyone is different in their recovery!

I am doing good! My water intake is at 60+ oz. I'm working on getting my protein and vitamins in. I've been dealing with esophagus issues that can be so painful it feels like what I imagine a small heart attack feeling like. Each day I seem to get them less and less.
-
Ahhh this gives me hope. I've been having this issue this week. It wakes me out of my sleep its so painful. Its only lasts seconds but sucks none the less.
-
Thanks! Surgery was Tuesday, was released yesterday afternoon. No real issues with walking, they were actually really surprised with how I was getting around so well. Right now I'm dealing with a lot of nausea and trouble getting in my water. I've been so exhausted that I'm having trouble waking up to get some oz in. I feel like my sips (no matter how small) are giving me chest pains. The nurses kept telling me my sips were to big but id take small enough sips just to wet my mouth and it would still cause me sharp pains in my chest. I woke up this morning with both hands and forearms pretty swollen. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I haven't taken any of the pain medication they prescribed me. I feel like that will only make me more tired and that much harder to get my water intake in.
