Hello All... I have been approved for Lap band with Dr. Garcia... After doing alot of research and talking to people who have had him he has good bed side mannor and is very supportive during the whole process... If anyone has a different opinion of him please let me know. Thank you in advance for any feed back.

Congrat!!! I had my fill yesterday..My first fill was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. He was very compassionate and supportive. I love him.... He put in 5.5 in my band he would put some in and take some out... He said that was average. Good luck on your journey....:biggrin:

I was banded on July 20th and it went very well. I went to the hospital at 7:30am very nervous. A very nice nurse assisted me with IV and made me feel very comfortable. My darling Hubby stayed until they told him I was good. I went into the surgery room like about 9am and that is the last thing I remember until a nurse kept asking me" How do you feel" You need to get up. I really could not even see her let a lone get up.. She left me alone for 30min and I was able to come to myself and then the Orderly came to push me to my room. Two very nice ladies. I was placed in my room ALONE..(Thank Goodness). I had to stay the night but my family came and I really felt better. I slept a lot when not visited by co-workers and family. They all said How good I looked just having surgery. The hospital really kept me feeling comfortable. By the morning I was ready to go.. I just closed Escrow on my new home..(WOOHOO). My hubby came to pick me up when he got off work that morning. I went home with a pillow...(Thanks to previous banders who stated that would be great to have for the ride home). We picked up my meds and to bed I went. I slept a lot the next day or so. By Wednesday I was feeling back to myself but didnt get to leave the house until Thursday when I went to Costco... Dang I miss the samples... After I return I was tired.. Back to sleep again. Friday I went to Walmart and Home Depot to buy paint for my home and back to sleep I went... By Saturday I was able to drive myself and I went to my mom's house I was feeling good. Sunday I went to Church and stayed pretty comfortable. I have not taken pain meds since Wednesday... Today is monday and I am feeling a little tired as I have returned back to work and let me tell you it was a lot of work for me. I cant wait to get home. This was my band experiences... Hello gang... Im just a week away from my new birthday..:thumbdown:...I have an appt with my surgeon on Wednesday the 15th and a visit to the hospital on 16TH...I am so nervous but yet so ready to start living a new banded life. I have been on liquids for the past week and let me tell you...:crying:..I am dyin..(at least it feels that way) but I just keep looking forward to the reward.. I was wondering and dont know if you guys could help me.. when I went to see my doctor for my last visit before surgery (7/10/09) he said I have fatty liver due to the diabetes...I was wondering if they will be able to do the surgery with the fatty liver... I will ask the surgeron on Wednesday just wondering if you wonderful people have been in this situation? Thanks and any advice will appreciated.:biggrin:...Oh yeah... I found out how to do the signature...Check me out!!!

Hello Nelli... I am taking of a week.. I am having the surgery done July 20th and returning to work on July 27th.. I have a desk job as well.. So I think I will be fine. Good Luck:thumbup:

I guess we are all on this sinking boat!!! I started my liquid diet July 5th so Im on the fourth day...Goodness... I called my nutri. and she said that I could have a light meal as long as I stay within my 1200 calories. So I have elected to have a light dinner and walk afterwards.. So while Im at work Im dying smelling everybodys food:cursing: but when I get home...Move out the way!!! Good Luck to you all. My surgery date is July 20th..:smile2:.

Hello Gang!!! I have some Phentermine pills and I have read all the posting that the pre-op diet is really difficult and I was wondering if anyone took them during this time to help them with the pre-op weight loss? Can you please let me know what happen, if anything. I am set to start diet on July 5.:rolleyes2:

Hello Ladies.... I have a question... I currently take the Depo shot for birth control and was told by my doctor that the birth control makes it hard to lose weight.. No that I am getting the Lap band I was wondering if some of you ladies have used this method and lose weight with the Lap band. I just dont want to end up Prego and just lost this weight....No way!!!:thumbup:

Hello Gang its me Hottie!!! Well yesterday 6/24/09 I met with the nutrition Lady ( she was real nice and helpful) I start my Liquid diet July 5 and then July 19 Clear liquid since I have surgery July 20!!! I have never felt so crazy before in my life to be so excited about something but at the same time be so nervous:blink:..Crazy uh...Anyways I am noticing the hospitals will be full all over with Lap band patients....We are taking our lives back from Fat!!! woohoo:thumbup:.Good luck and congrat to all of you guys.. The one thing I don't see is prayer...I battled it as well but when I started to pray I started to sleep. I hope this helps.

Does anyone know of anyone who has died due to the lap band or complications? Not really something I have seen talked about but just wondering...

My date is July 20th..woohoo

Today I had the Upper G I completed.. Here we go.. Changed into two gowns back and front covered.... Had to take some kind of crystal and chase it with water..which help but air in the stomach so the G I meds can be seen below the air.... Very gassy..:smile2:. Then had to drink this white milky looking liquid...big gulps..6 tims...Yuck:eek:...Not tasty but not really that nasty either... Then they took X-RAYS of my stomach...very interesting..very nice guy at Mercy Hospital... Then we wait..and wait...and wait for the darn liquid to flow to the intestines which took so long... Then finally it starts to flow..10 mins later...goodness I was there 1 hr for the whole process....Then Left to eat... No food or drink after midnight...Glad thats over..6 more appt till my Big day...July 20,2009...HOOORAY!!

I'm in california...upper g I was not too bad....I hope that's the worst...lol

Wooohooo we are being banded on the same day....I am really nervous and excited...I have waited and researched so long That now that the approval has come through I'm like ahhh....I have appts almost every week unitl My surgery date...I'm not sure when liquid will start but I meet with nut. On the 24th of june... Good luck and keep me posted...

Hello You banded folks...I just wanted to ask you guys a question... What would you do differently if you knew what you knew now about the band? It can be anything...ie.. eating, drinking, exercising...ANYTHING...Im being banded next month and would like some imput.... Thank you in advance.:biggrin:

There is so much going through my head....anixety...panic wonderiing what the iother side of the band will....mostly excited to know I might one day be comfortable in my own skin.

Congrat!! How exciting for you to have your date.....I have my date as well mines is July 20,2009...Now I am loaded down with appts and getting everything down so that things will run smoothly.. Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress...:confused:
