  1. Just curious about what experiences you all have had with the bariatric multivitamins? Do you all have any recommendations for or against any particular ones? The nutritionist I met with recommended the Bariatric Advantage Chewable Ultra Solo with Iron.

I'm so glad to hear everything went well! Hopefully, you don't have too much discomfort.

I don't have my surgery till July 27th. However, I see where you might have thought that lol. I meant that "today was the day" for you 😂. Sorry for the confusion, but thank you for asking!

    Best Multivitamin for Gastric Sleeve

My nutritionist did go over a vitamin regimen with me. They recommended the Bariatric Advantage Ultra Solo w/ Iron. They also recommended that I take a calcium citrate supplement either 1x or 2x daily. She said that it depends on if I supplement with a protein shake, whether or not I need to take 1 or 2 of those.

    Best Multivitamin for Gastric Sleeve

Thanks for the heads up @Tony B - NJ! I too have heard the chewables are disgusting, but didn’t know about the capsules being awful too. I wish there was a way for me to try an assortment of them before I bought a 1-month or 3-month supply.

Yeah, I think to be honest they may get a kickback from Bariatric Advantage (which is fine). Luckily, I’ve been on a decent supplemental regimen, so this shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience.

    Best Multivitamin for Gastric Sleeve

Thanks for the information and recommendations. I’m sure as time goes on that I’ll figure out what works. My nutritionist and surgeon are very understanding, informative, and knowledgeable. I’ll be sure to look into that spray you mentioned.

    Working out after surgery

Yeah, I won’t lie, I’ve definitely started to slack at the gym. I used to go 5-6x/week. Now I’m lucky if I go three times. As soon as it’s “taken away” though, I know I’ll miss it instantly.
  10. Good Afternoon All, Was wondering if anybody had any advice on working out post surgery? I am an avid gym goer (average 3-5x/week). I know for the 1st month you're not really supposed to do anything but walking. After that though, what did some of you all do and how long did it take for you to get back to some form of normal in the gym?

    Best Multivitamin for Gastric Sleeve

As I too am pre-op, I'm not totally certain... My nutritionist told me to take the multivitamin (which should have the Vitamin D, Iron, and B12 in it) and the calcium citrate. However, she told me that if I drank a protein shake or drank milk, that I didn't necessarily need 2-3 of the citrate chews, and just to do one. That being said, I'm sure your doctor/nutritionist would be happy to guide you in a more medically focused direction.

Thanks for the heads up and advice. I think I'm going to try both Bariatric Advantage and the Bariatric Pal multivitamins and then see what works and what doesn't.

    Shocked? Yes I am

    Great job!

    Working out after surgery

Right. I'm under that same understanding that nothing but walking for the first month, then cardio, and eventually resistance training with weights.

    Working out after surgery

Walking and bike riding are great for anyone. I think a lot of people discredit walking and just write it off. I think that's a big mistake! Walking is a lot easier on your joints and still burns a lot of calories over time.

    Working out after surgery

Water Aerobics is a great way to exercise for sure! Practically no wear and tear on you, but you get that added resistance from working against the water. I'm glad you found something that is working out for you.

    Working out after surgery

I'm sure working out feels a lot different after surgery. I know it's going to be a big adjustment compared to what I'm used to do vs. what I'll be able to do post surgery. I think once I'm able to eat a little more "normal" foods, I think I'll feel better working out then. Time will tell.

    Working out after surgery

Yeah, I'm sure it's going to be quite a shock for me. I'm 6' and 320+ lbs, so I tend to lift heavier than a lot of people. I can only imagine how I'm going to feel eating so much fewer calories than I currently do and trying to engage in strength/resistance training.

    Upper Endoscopy

Ahh I see. So just a waiting game now? I hate waiting! lol I do have a surgery date, July 27th, next month. I'm looking forward to it, but also am a little bit nervous. I'm more so worried about the immediate recovery phase right after the surgery than anything.

    Upper Endoscopy

Glad to hear all is well. I felt the same way afterwards, I was like "that wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be." When is your surgery date?

    July 2022 peeps!

Nothing wrong with looking forward to the future. However, as we all know, there will be some tough, trying days ahead, and regrets and confusion. Use this time as a time to reflect on the choices and changes you'll be making in the next few months. Then, use the possibility of plastic surgery as a motivator to put in the hard work following your surgery. You got this!

    Upper Endoscopy

Good Morning, I just did my EGD a few weeks ago. I too was nervous, but the hospital staff (nurses, doctors, etc.) were very nice, calming, and reassuring. The procedure only lasts like 15-20 minutes. When you wake up, you'll probably feel like you just took one of the best naps of your life. I know I did! Just be calm (I know, easier said than done) and it'll be over before you know it! Just breathe and think that you're one step closer to your surgery.
