    Has anyone tried Alli??

Thanks to everyone for your honest opinions - it really helps me avoid that one. I just need something to help me eat less. The more research I do, the more the band sounds like my answer. When I exercise, I get hungrier, so I can't lose a pound! Thanks again!
  2. I am about at my last resort, which would be the lapband, but I want to make sure I'm making the right decision. I exercise regularly, but can't get my appetite down, and don't seem to have the will power to not eat something I shouldn't very often. I am 5'10" and weigh 245. My BMI is 35 according to the formulas, but my personal trainer says it's actually 40. I am frustrated because nothing seems to work. Have any of you tried Alli to stop your appetite? If so, did it work? Did it have any bad side effects? Thanks for your input!
  3. Thanks for all the input everyone. It all makes sense. I'm sure I'll adjust - IF I get approved. I'm still waiting!!
  4. Calipso, you bring up what I've been wondering for weeks - how do you get past the habit or urge to eat for taste, not for being full. If we're all so "addicted" to food, how do you get past the psychological need to taste food when you can't eat it? Or does it just go away when you're full? My biggest fear is missing eating the food - will there be a big void in my day? Anyone's input would be appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Hi, there! I'm a low-BMIer also. I have been lurking here for a few weeks now, too. I am waiting for my first consult with Dr. Malley in November, but hoping they will move me up sooner, since there will be a new Dr. starting this month. I have been going back and forth with diets since my twenties, and feel burnt out on all the things I've tried. Most recently, I hired a personal trainer for 6 months, and lost no weight, working out 3 times a week on weights, and 4 times a week on cardio! I lost 4% of my body fat, but no pounds, and am out over $2000. My BMI is at 35, and I have had problems with my knees, feet, heart palpitations, and high cholesterol off & on. No "official" co-morbidities, but hope for approval, since I have UHC insurance, and the nurse thought I'd probably be approved with a letter from Dr. Malley. :biggrin2: Have any of you had feelings of not being sure you deserve the Lap Band? Being on the border of the BMI minimum, I wonder if I should pursue it at times. Your thoughts would be appreciated! This is such a great, supportive place - I feel lucky I found it!
