    Stomach spasms??

Happy to report the spasms are much less frequent today. I'm done with full clear liquids now and I think sipping this protein shake is bringing me back to life.

    Stomach spasms??

They got in touch with my surgeon and he said it is likely just the inflammation inside causing the spasms. He said to keep walking as much as possible and if the pain worsens to let them know.

    Stomach spasms??

They called to check in on me and said they will have a nurse practitioner call me back. I did google a little bit about the spasms and it seems like a pretty common thing right after surgery. I finally started passing gas a little while ago and I feel a little better since then.

This is what they have had me doing in the hospital. I am getting discharged now and am taking a sleeve of 1 ounce cups with me

The surgeon came to see me and turns out I had a 3 for 1 surgery - VSG, gallbladder, and hiatal hernia repair. Makes sense now why my recovery feels so brutal

I'm 8 hours post-op. I also had my gallbladder removed so I'm feeling pretty rough right now. The gas pains are real and I unfortunately am one of the ones plauged by big time nausea. Only was able to walk around once and so far have managed to sip 2oz of water. I have a great nighttime nurse making all of this bearable.

    October 2022 surgery support

Same! I anxiously cried myself to sleep for a few hours last night. It's now 6:45am and I'm headed to take my last Hibiclens shower. I gave up on trying to sleep more and figured I'd be sleeping all day post-op anyway. I have to be at the hospital at 11 and surgery time is at 1:20. Wishing you a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery!! 🤗

    October 2022 surgery support

Tomorrow is my surgery day and I am only allowed clear liquids today. I haven't really felt hunger during the liquid diet until today. Doesn't matter how many sugar free popsicles I eat, bottles of water I drink, or cups of broth I sip. I never thought I'd crave a protein drink but here I am wishing I could drink a chocolate fairlife 😅 Trying to stay positive and keep my hands and mind busy. Journaling to remind myself why I'm doing this in the first place. Good luck to everyone who is also scheduled for tomorrow!

Thank you for the update and I hope you're recovering well! It's really helpful for what to expect because I did indeed get my period yesterday, just in time for Tuesday 🥲 Good idea on the period underwear, I'll definitely add them to my hospital bag. My biggest qualm at the moment is only being allowed to take Tylenol for the cramps- sadly it does nothing for me compared to Advil. Having to come to terms with having period pain forever is harder for me than giving up carbs 😅

Only 3 days left for me pre-op! I'm not feeling nervous yet. Feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Tuesday to get here. I took Monday off of work to stay stress free and have more time to prepare. To all the other October folks - we got this! 💪
  13. I'm also interested to hear other low BMI weight loss surgery experiences! I am having VSG in 6 days and my starting weight (before liquid diet) is also 205.

Good luck you'll do great! Im in the same boat, It's super likely I'll have my period next week during surgery too 😬 I'm hoping the worry and stress leading up to the big day will cause it to show up later lol
  15. My last nutritionist appointment was 23 days ago. I recieved a surgery date of October 6th, and I was under the assumption my paperwork would be submitted that week. I called the surgeons office today for an update and she said they will submit closer to the surgery date, "in about two weeks". Is this a normal time frame? I get more approval anxiety by the day! My pre-op EKG and labs appointment is scheduled for September 12th but they're not even submitting my claim until around that time? My patience is running low 😮‍💨🥴
  16. I got the call this morning, I'm approved!!!!!! Woooo!!! Never felt a bigger sigh of relief in my entire life. 😃
  17. I kept calling my surgeons office last week for updates and they continued to give me the same excuse that my case is still "pending"... BUT after calling Blue Cross on Friday they explained that my surgeons office had to resubmit my case because they didn't add the codes for surgery the first time!!!! This made me so upset because no one at the office bothered to inform me of that. I reached back out to the office and the coordinator said she is requesting BCBS mark my case as urgent now. We're down to the wire (surgery is in 8 days!) And I could use all the well wishes and fingers crossed that I get approved on time 😔

  19. I'm scheduled October 11th for VSG and due to a history of gallstones my surgeon is going to remove my gallbladder at the same time. Has anyone else had a double procedure? I have a list of questions for my surgeon at our last pre-op appointment, but I'm curious to hear any similar experiences from someone whose gone through it.
