This too shall pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass.

I know this post is quite old and I hope that you're doing well now and living your best life. I have a fear that I'm going to lose too much weight. That I'm not going to be able to stop losing weight, when the time comes and I reach goal.

21 day fix with lap band / post tummy tuck
Jeanniebug replied to srahjean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've wondered if Portion Fix would be helpful after bariatric surgery. It seems to be a very healthy way to eat - very clean. I just wonder if one would alter the container counts..? -
New / From Oregon / Surgery in Nampa Idaho
Jeanniebug replied to jmkmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, my surgery isn't tomorrow. Boy, do I wish it was! I'm waiting for the call from the scheduler, any time now. I was told it will probably be either September 12th or 30th. -

I hear ya. Hearing people talk about their complications gives me anxiety. I'm ready to just do this and get it over with. LOL! My insurance is paying 100% too. We are blessed! Do you know if your friend saw Dr. Archer? That's who's doing my surgery. -

Hi! I'm in Central Oregon, having surgery in Bend. I just completed my requirements. My insurance is an instant approval, so I know I was approved on Friday. I was told that my surgery will be either September 12th or 30th. I just have to wait for a phone call from the scheduler this week, to confirm! Jeanne -
So how much can you really eat??? 1 hear from now
Jeanniebug replied to Supafly82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist says that I will eventually be eating about 1 cup at a time. -
I've started therapy to try to get some of my issues figured out, before I head into surgery. If nothing else, I can at least get the relationship established, so I'm comfortable talking to the therapist after my surgery when the stuff is really going to be coming up.

Pre-surgery in the era of telemedicine
Jeanniebug replied to vikingbeast's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My initial consult with the surgeon was in person. I've only talked to him one time since, and that was to do an EGD. My initial consult with the nutritionist was in person. We've been meeting on Zoom every month. My final visit with her will be in August, and it will be in person. I meet - in person - with the medical weight loss gal, about every 6 weeks. She's prescribing me some medications to help me lose weight before the surgery. They have one of those scales that scans your body mass and gives you a cool little printout with your fat percentage and stuff. I like it. My psych eval was on Zoom and it was 2 visits and a phone call for feedback. My surgeon's office has monthly support group that meets on Zoom, as well. These are interesting times that we're living in! -
My husband has said the exact same thing. He loves me just the way I am. He doesn't want me to do this in order to look good for him. He doesn't want or need me to change. But, he understands that I need to do this. He knows that I have diabetes and high cholesterol and I'm a heart attack waiting to happen. He has watched me struggle with diet after diet and he's seen the tears and frustration. Your husband loves you. He loves you just the way you are. He doesn't think you need to change and he doesn't want you doing this for him. It's okay. He's still supporting you. He's still there. When he says that, just smile and say, "I know and I love you for that."

The threat of dumping and the reduction in reflux were the two main reasons why I've chosen the bypass.

Up your protein and make sure you're hitting your water target. Stalls are expected.

Start of my weight loss surgery
Jeanniebug replied to Cnl061714's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! That's so exciting! I still have two more nutrition visits to attend. Everything else is done, though. -
I remember those days, of being a single mom with no support. Tough decisions. Thankfully, I do have a vacation time bucket that will cover one week - close to two, by the time of my surgery.

My doctor said, "You should be able to go back to work in 3 weeks. Wait, you work from home... You should be able to go back to work in 2 weeks." I'm asking for 3 weeks off, anyway. I'm thinking that I need a buffer, just in case. I can always go back to work early, if I don't need all 3 weeks.

I haven't had surgery yet. Hoping for this fall!

Mine will be laparascopic robotic, as well. It's still laparscopic in that they don't cut you from stem to stern, it's done with cameras through small incisions. But, they use a robot to manipulate the tools.

Thank you! I am so appreciative of all the information that I'm getting from my Nutritionist and the weight loss surgery team in general. I do think that the education component is very important - I would say it's as important as the surgery itself. The surgery is a tool. The education is a tool. When both tools are used at the same time, success comes easier, I'm sure.

I wish I didn't have to wait quite so long. But, it hasn't been too bad. I've joined the support group that my surgeon offers and the other members have been a big help. The wait has also given me time to practice some of the things that they want us to do after surgery. I've been trying different protein drinks, practicing not eating and drinking at the same time, trying to get away from soda, eating slower, etc. In addition, it's given me time to acquire some post-surgery things that I think I'll want, like tiny little baby food jars to store my food in, freezer molds, I plan on getting an abdominal band, etc. If I had to buy all that stuff in a short period of time, I think it would have been financially difficult. So, yeah, it would be nice to have it done and over with. But, I think there's also some good things about waiting.

Mixing protein in water or other?
Jeanniebug replied to mrsjo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein powders are definitely an acquired taste. I prefer to mix mine with almond milk.
