My surgery is tomorrow, too! (If that's what you mean by Tuesday). The things you're worried about, are temporary issues. Once our tummies settle down - by about a year out - we can pretty much eat anything we want. That's why some people regain all their lost weight - because they're able to go back to their old eating habits. Yes, things will be hard at first. But it will get better.

How many calories each person needs is going to be different. There is no amount that fits everyone. If only it were that easy! It's going to depend on how much exercise you're getting, what medications you're on and what illnesses you may have. It also depends on your height and weight. For instance, a heavier person will burn more calories just sitting still than a lighter person. And someone with more muscle mass will burn more calories just sitting still than someone with less. Also, certain foods make me gain weight. If I eat two low-carb tortillas, I will gain two pounds that day. It never fails. I reckon certain foods cause me to retain water and LC tortillas are one of them. LOL! But everyone else I know can eat them and still lose weight. You need to experiment and see where your specific body is successful. Write down everything you eat or drink. Weigh yourself regularly. If you see that the scale is going up, review what you've been eating since you last weighed in and make the appropriate changes. -
So exciting!!! Please let us know how it goes!

I hope you're okay!

You're only a week out. You really should clear exercise with your surgeon. However, walking is usually a safe thing to do.

Yes! I'm scheduled for Tuesday. It's so surreal... I kind of feel like I'm in a dream, or something.

This too shall pass! Hopefully your body will adjust quickly. Great tip about the popsicles. Thanks!

I'm glad I could help.

You're doing great! I've heard to stay off the scale for at least 5 weeks. Your body is freaking out right now and trying to find stability. Your weight is going to be going crazy. I've heard that hunger often continues until you're on solid foods. Once you start solids, you'll start feeling restriction. This video might help with the portion sizes.

Yay! My last hurdle is today. I have to go get a Covid test. That's the final step, then surgery on Tuesday!

Same! I'm happy and nervous, and excited and terrified. I'm all the things! LOL! But, I know this is the right decision and that I need this. I feel so blessed to be able to get this surgery and I have a job and family that are supportive. Good luck to you!

Thank you!!! I shall keep everyone posted, for sure!

Yay! I haven't gotten the call yet, so I'm not sure where I'll be on the schedule. I think our hospital calls the day before.

I heard someone else say that she got some little 1-ounce cups and filled 6 of them. She lined them up in a row next to where she was sitting. Her goal was to drink 1 cup every 10 minutes. Doing this all day, she was drinking OVER the amount they wanted her to be getting in a day. Maybe give that a try?

Rough now, but you are going to feel so much better after you heal up!

Awful doctor experience

Asperger's. Those at the top of their field have terrible bedside manners and I think it's because they have Asperger's. But, that's okay, because we're not trying to be their friends. And to the OP. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. But remember why you're doing this. -
Hugs!!!

Yay!!! Congratulations!!!

How much are you drinking? Dehydration is easy in the beginning. Make sure you're drinking everything you're supposed to. Some tiredness and weakness is to be expected. You're not consuming very many calories. As long as you're staying properly hydrated, this will pass. I'm still pre-surg, but I will be on full liquids for 2 weeks after my surgery. So, I'll be where you are, in 8 days.

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Please come back and update us. I'll be in your position in 7 days.
