    Itchy all over

I was itchy, too, but I think it started sooner than yours did. But, it lasted for a really long time. For me, I think it was just a reaction to the combination of the anesthesia, the Hibiclens, and the hormones. I started taking Benadryl and that helped a lot. If you're worried, get in touch with your team.

    Stomach feels weird

Eggs are hard for a lot of people. I've found that egg salad or fried eggs sit better in my tummy than scrambled eggs do.
  3. Don't beat yourself up. My surgeon said that obesity is like cancer, it wants to come back. That's why 95% of people can't keep the weight off with just diet and exercise alone. And that's why such a large number of people don't keep it off, even after having surgery. Yes, our chances of keeping the weight off after surgery are better than not having surgery, but the weight still wants to come back. Hugs!

    Pregnancy like symptoms

Yep, I had the smell aversions after surgery, too. The first time I ate beef - it smelled disgusting while it was cooking. It tasted good, so I was able to eat it. But the smell was awful. For a few weeks, I was super-sensitive to perfumy smells. Scented candles and incense were the bane of my existence. I'm still a little sensitive to perfumes, but it's gotten a LOT better.

    Does it get easier?

Hang in there, you're doing great! This too shall pass. It might pass like a kidney stone, but it WILL pass!
  6. Congratulations! We all have different tastes. And like @kcuster83 says, don't stock up before surgery, because your tastes might change. Mine sure did. After surgery, I could only drink the Fairlife shakes. I bought a case of the Premier Protein Chocolate Mint shakes to make ice cream with. They're pretty good. I don't really drink shakes anymore - I'm pretty much on to real food now. Really, I only drink a shake if we have to be in the car and it's time for me to eat and I don't feel like bringing actual food.

    Holy moly!!!!

    Great job!
  8. At 5'6" and 233 pounds, I *barely* met the criteria. And that's with diabetes and high cholesterol. Sad to say, you might actually need to gain some weight in order to qualify. It's all about your BMI.

    Post OP Pain

I'm sorry to hear that you're in so much pain! Try to remember that it's temporary. Maybe you can alternate your narcotics and tylenol..? That's what I did, while I was taking the narcotics.

    When to stop...

Same. This is exactly what I do. I portion out my meal and then either stop when the food is gone, or until I feel like I might be getting full - whichever comes first.
  14. My goal weight was decided between my Medical Weight Loss provider and myself. She asked me what I thought. I told her that I thought 145 would be good, because that's where I was after having 2 kids and not losing the weight. She told me that because of my age, 155 would be a better weight for me. So, I split the difference and came up with 150. My surgeon said that he believed I would be at 163, in my first year. And really, I think I would be super happy with that, even. So, my declared goal is 150. But, I think somewhere between 150 and 160 would be fine.
  15. I'm sorry to hear that you're having infection issues. But, great job on the weight loss!

    old habits

Unfortunately, the surgery only effects our stomachs - not our brains. I would suggest therapy. That's what I'm doing. I've found that chewing gum helps. I know some people find that hobbies that keep their hands moving help. Sewing, things like that. Really, I suppose anything that can distract you would work.

    Right side pain

I'm 7.5 weeks out - gastric bypass. I still have a lot of diaphragm discomfort. Wearing a bra makes it worse. I think that wearing bottoms with a high or snug waistband, does too. My surgeon's office has referred me for an upper GI series. I reckon it will come back "normal". I think my problem is just what I've been wearing and the activity I've been doing.

Diaphragm Discomfort 7 Weeks Post Op

The PA has scheduled an upper GI series for me at our local imaging center. Hopefully they call me sooner rather than later to get me scheduled.
  19. Hey Everyone! So, I am 7-weeks post op, robot-assisted RnY gastric bypass. I have recently had some increased diaphragm pressure and discomfort. No real pain, but pressure and it is quite uncomfortable. I'm able to eat and drink. I haven't had any nausea or vomiting. I'm going to reach out to my surgical team, but I wondered if anyone else might have had this, too. It's possible that this was caused by wearing elastic-waist pants that were too snug - I did that for a couple of days in a row. Thanks! Jeanne

Diaphragm Discomfort 7 Weeks Post Op

So, the surgeons PA told me to go to the urgent care. She said she didn't think I necessarily needed to drive all the way to the ER - 45 minutes away, but she wanted me to be seen. She was concerned about pulmonary embolism. Well, urgent care took my vitals - all were fine. I really don't think this is a lung issue - I think it's a tummy issue. Urgent care couldn't do anything else for me. I'm not going to go sit for 6 hours in the ER, just to be told that everything is okay and to go home. I asked the PA to refer me for imaging. My hope is that it's just a pulled muscle, or something. I've been doing a lot of heavy lifting the last week.

Diaphragm Discomfort 7 Weeks Post Op

I'm taking omeprazole, once a day. But the thought did cross my mind that it might be something like that. Pre-surg, I had SEVERE reflux.
  22. I'm almost 7 weeks post op and I don't feel like I've missed anything. I did a LOT of research - for probably about a year, before my surgery. I started therapy - before my surgery. I have a great team and am quite pleased.

    October 2022 surgery support

Mine started at 2 weeks, too and it just broke a few days ago. About 3.5 weeks for me, too. I noticed that during that time, my ring started slipping off my finger. My favorite skirt started slipping down my hips. I'm definitely losing inches, even if the scale isn't moving. I also started working out - running on my elliptical - 30 minutes a day and I'm going a little over 4 miles. My abs are still sore, so no weight lifting for me, yet.
