    Pain in ribcage area

Also, how long before you should get to feeling better. I have read where some had no problem and when back to work the next day. I am 5 days after surgery and I still feel horable.

    Pain in ribcage area

I had my surgery on the 15 of Sept. and I am still super sore on both side of my lower rib cage. It hurts when I strain to get up from a chair or roll over in bed. I can't hardly stand to lay on my sides yet, it hurts too bad to try to even roll over to get on my side. Is that gas pain?

    Ask Dr. Schulman...

Dr. Schulman, I have read alot of post where people were able to get up and go only after a day or 2 after lap band surgery. Even going back to work the day after surgery. I had my surgery on Monday the 15th of Sept and today is the 20th of Sept. I am 5 days out. I am starting to wonder if I am o.k. I am still SUPER sore and it hurts when I strain to get up out of a chair or roll over in bed, I cannot hardly lay on either side. I am still not feeling up to anything! I am bad diabetic and usually heal slower, but am I healing too slow?
  5. Missymoo, I just noticed that you are from TN. Do you mind me asking where?
  6. Juliana, Thank you so much for the encouraging words. My husband said the same thing to me. He is so supportive. I guess I just needed to hear it said. The Dr office did call me back and told me that everything was approved now and cleared for the insurance and she was passing my chart on to the nurse for scheduling. She said that the nurse should be calling me in 4 to 5 business days. That I would have to see the surgeon again for final details before the surgery, so I'm waiting. But also thank you for your prayers! I believe in prayer! My husband also reminded me that we had put this surgery in God's hands and he had it under control and in His time! After I wrote this message, I also noticed your weight chart. I was so encouraged by that too. I have lost 12 pounds this month, but my last weight at the Dr.'s office I was 320 too and my goal is 150. I am so proud of your loss so far and I appreciate your support. vsnowrn, I will be praying for you Thursday morning too! Let us know how you are doing! missymoo78 I am so glad that you have a date! Do you have to do the two week liquid diet before surgery?
  7. Hi Juliana, it is nice to hear the positive response. I am so glad that you are doing good. I am starting to get a little discouraged. I had hoped to have a surgery date by now. I have just got off the phone with the Dr. office, after alot more paperwork last week and they still do not have a date yet for surgery. I was all built up and now that is starting to fade quickly. Eight months is a long time to wait getting everything done. They are nice enough and have reasons for everything, but just not getting it done. It is starting to make be doubt doing it.

    Waiting for a surgery date!

I am going through the Weight Loss Center at the hospital in Chattanooga. But my insurance requires a psychological evaluation performed by a psychologist or psychiatrist not associated with the surgical program. Which includes 1. Documentaion of the individual's willingness to compl with both the pre and pos operative treatment plans 2. Interview and evaluation 3. MMPI 2 4. EDI-2 or EAT - 26 Everything else is through them. But I was not aware that I had to get the psy Dr. myself. They give me a list of 3 that I could contact that they could recomend, only one of them accepted my insurance but they were so booked up that I had to wait 3 weeks. It was orriginally 6 weeks but I had them put me on the cancelation list and they called me and moved it up. I even tried calling several out of the phone book, but most of them did not do the testing that I needed done or would not accept my insurance. Anyway I finally got it done and hopefully he has sent in the result to the surgeons yesterday like he said he would. I live on the state lines between NC, GA, and TN, so my insurance gets complicated alone with the medical Dr.'s being able to cross the state lines. Like I live in Murphy, NC but my insurance will not cover me at the Murphy hospital or the NC Dr.'s. ????????? I have also had to have surgery approval from my lung Dr., heart Dr. and diebetic Dr., and they have required alot of test of their own to give me their approval. I had all of that ready when I got to he surgeons visit because I knew that I was going to need that. I am a very high risk patient for surgery. Boy this has made me tired just talking about it! hahahaha I am really glad that all of it is over now. Now I am ready for the surgery!
  9. Hi everyone! I have been working on getting all of the Dr. appointments, tests, paperwork and aproval done for 7 months now for the surgery. As of yesterday I completed everything and I am now waiting on them to call me to set the date. As so many say, I am excited but I am sooo scared! I will have to go on the liquid diet 2 weeks before the surgery, and that seems like it will be hard. But I am so thankful to have a very wonderful and supporting husband and family. My husband and 5 others of my family have volunteered to go on the 2 week diet with me to support me. Between the Lord and them I am very blessed! :w00t:

    Waiting for a surgery date!

I started with the siminar in Jan. and then to my insurance the next day to see if they would cover the surgery. My insurance required a 6 month weight management progess before they would cover the surgery. So I made my appointment with the surgent for 6 months out. Then in the mean time I worked on all the other test and process that I had to do. I also have heart problems and I am diebetic so they required me to have more test than normal. I would have had the psy evualtion already done but I thought the surgents office had to do that, and did not find out until I got to the surgents office that I had to do that myself. But then not all psy will do the testing required for the weight loss programs. I went through 7 before I found one that could do all the test required and that was the fastest they could get me in for the testing. So I have not been able to rush thing, combined with the fact that I live in a little town and I have been having to go 2 hours one way back and forth for most of the testing. I has been a long process for me to say the least. But I am finally there! Just waiting on the call now. ( and I have already called both Dr. offices today to make sure the paperwork is getting there!)

    Waiting for a surgery date!

Melboyd, That is one of the same reason I chose the band. Also, I am diebetic and I don't like the risk of the other because of the complications of healing. I want to lose weight not kill myself. Good job on losing the weight too. I have lost 12lb. and I am so ready to lose more.

    Waiting for a surgery date!

Melisa1, Good idea to go ahead and get the psy. app. I had to wait 3 weeks for that appointment. I had that done this past Tuesday. It was unreal. There were almost 600 question on one of the test. It took me almost 2 hours just for that one test. I was there for almost 4 hours for everything that day. They were suppost to have all my paperwork graded and sent to the surgeons office today. They will set my appintments for the blood work and gi during my 2 weeks diet before surgery. I am ready for a date now!! 7 months has been a long time working on this.

  16. Hello, I just joined 2 days ago. I have been working on all the Dr. appointment, test, paperwork for 7 months now. I got the final approval from the surgeon 2 weeks ago. I had just one more thing to do as far as paperwork and I finished that Tuesday. That Dr. said that he would have the paperwork to my surgeon tomorrow. Then they will call me to set my surgery date. I will have to go on a liquid diet for two weeks before surgery. But I am ready to go! Boy am I scared! haha
