How often do you weigh yourself after WLS?
Joshmaul replied to Possum220's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't, mainly because my bathroom scale doesn't handle going above 300 all that well, heh - most of my weigh-ins have been at either my PCP's office or the weight-and-wellness center where my surgeon is based. They properly calibrate their scales. -
6 weeks out - I'm very worried - could I stretch my sleeve with this amount of food??

It's pretty much a case of "your mileage may vary". I was told of all kinds of things that could happen - feeling overly nauseous, hair falling out in clumps, things like that - but I never ran into any of that. And when it comes time to eat food, I generally do not have an issue. That being said, I confess to being a little surprised that six weeks out, you were able to take in that much. Most of what I've been getting from the surgeon or the nutritionist is "take it slow". I'm just over nine weeks post-op myself and still testing the waters (I had potatoes - shredded "hash brown" types - for the first time since the surgery this past weekend, and I managed okay), but what I would suggest would be to dial it back if you're not 100% sure you should be going at the rate you are, regardless of whether or not you can. "One day at a time" and "it's not a sprint, it's a marathon", and all the other one-liners my surgeon's office has given me, heh heh. -
California originally, Massachusetts currently. (How that happened, I'm still not sure, heh.)

Please tell me I haven't failed.

I myself don't trust the scales outside of my doctors' offices. (Mainly because the one in my bathroom doesn't handle 300+ all that well, heh heh.) And there's usually maybe only 1-2 pounds difference between the different facilities - my PCP's office, the hospital for whatever reason, or the office with my surgeon, nutritionist, case manager, etc. -
Does eating still take 20 mins months down the road?
Joshmaul replied to Vivis's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Depends on what it is. The softer stuff (eggs, ground meats, etc.) disappear fairly quickly for me. How much of an effect it has on my stomach depends on how fast, but the food is usually gone in about 10-15 minutes, depending on whether or not I'm distracted by something at the time - i.e. right here at the computer. But I still keep up the 30+ minute separation of drinks, even if a small tidbit happens to go down the wrong tube for whatever reason. -
