I'm drinking Fairlife shakes because they're easy and taste good.

I had my first post-op appointment today. My doc says I'm progessing nicely and to keep aiming for my water and protein goals. The only negative is that they determined that I'm allergic to the suture tape so they removed it all today and my incisions are not healed up yet. I'm going to keep applying EltaMD silvergel and gauze until they're 100%

Sorry is this is TMI, but yes, I had diarrhea starting post op day 3 until post op day 7. I added some benefiber in my shakes and it went away. I was expecting the opposite problem.

Congrats Kevin! You're steadily dropping the weight. I'm only a week and a half post-op but I'm looking forward to getting out of my 3XL shirts also!
-
You're past what was the hardest part for me! Hopefully it just gets easier from here on out!
-
My doc doesn't allow tomato soup either! I thought maybe I was the only one.
-
I'm not hungry either after the surgery. Starting off I could only take two small sips before I felt a tightness in my chest. Now I can take three large sips. If I overdo it I feel like I need to stand up to help the liquid go down and I get a pain in my left top shoulder. Then I just feel uncomfortable for about 20 minutes. I realize it's different for everyone.

Yay! Sending you good thoughts and hopes for a speedy recovery!

Yay!! I'm so happy everything is going well!

I'm so sorry. If it makes you feel better I haven't hit my daily water goal ever yet. And those first few days were mostly Swanson's sipping broth. I also went and had IV fluids on post-op day 3. I think that helped a lot.

I'm 8 days post op and my incisions are so itchy! I had to buy guaze and medical tape to put over them and it helps a little. I've also started wearing my binder to sleep so I don't accidentally scratch them in my sleep. Otherwise, everything is going great! I've lost 9 pounds since surgery day and I'm able to tolerate the chewable vitamins so far.

Yes, so true! I thought it would help me sleep one night but it just ended up making me loopy and dizzy that whole next day. I'll stick to my liquid Tylenol.
-
That sounds like the perfect setup! I do start to fade by the afternoon.

I'm getting around really well. Last week I walked a mile every morning with small breaks to stop and rest. I was prescribed gabapentin. The one day I took it, I did not feel safe to drive. Except for that I could totally drive now one week post-op!
-
Yes! I had mine on Monday, Aug 8th and I was back working remotely from home by Friday. By 3pm I was really tired, but I feel like I have much more energy this week.

Good luck to everyone who is having surgery this week. You've got this. You're going to do great.

Diet right after surgery?
heartofmercury replied to KaitlynAnne93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not allowed anything to eat or drink on my surgery day. They had some lemon swabs I could use to moisten my mouth, but that was it. The 2 days after surgery were clear liquids only. Starting day 3 until day 23 I could have "full liquids" like protein shakes. -
You've got this. I was also really nervous before and even cried in the pre-op waiting room. Everything ended up fine. Remember a long phone charger and a heating pad! Some other things I was glad I brought were single use face cleaning cloths, chapstick and an eye mask. It all goes by so quickly and before you know it you'll be discharged from the hospital. Sending good thoughts your way!

[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] I find comfort in the fact that we're going through this together!

Yes! Same with the fantasies about greek yogurt! I had a dream last night I was eating Malt-o-meal. I haven't had that since I was a kid.

I had my surgery on Monday and had a really hard time the first day at home also. I barely got any liquids in and had a bunch of gas pain. On post-op day 3 I went in to my doc's office for IV fluids with vitamins and that really helped! I'm trying to hit my fluid goals every day now on my own, but I get really tired and feel water logged. Just want to let you know you're not alone.
-
Just wanted to report back that IV fluids helped tremendously! I had a ton of energy yesterday.
-
Congrats! Take the time you need to recover and keep reminding yourself of your "why".
-
Yes. You 100% have this. I haven't tried KaChava, but it sounds like a good plan.

Thanks @ Sunnyer! I appreciate the advice. I'll try that tonight. I'm such a wimp about my sleep.
