    Question on hair loss

This was the same for me. I already had hair loss before surgery but it stopped and now its been shedding alot for about a month. Did you cut your hair or just let the new growth play catch up?
  2. Sniff...sniff. I tried on a smaller shirt today. I officially have a waist. I haven't seen one in a very long time. Yay..

    Question on hair loss

Ok, so I'm back. Need some advice. I'm wondering when I should get my hair cut, if I should wait until most of the shedding stopped or do it now? If I get it cut and its still shedding I don't want my new haircut to look bad because of that but on the other hand I'm getting annoyed with the shedding. My hair is very long (waist) and the long strands all over the place is not fun. What would you do?
  4. I think I have an ulcer. I've had pain midway between my belly button and sternum (i think that's what it called) or breastbone. Whatever. Pain is worse when my pouch is empty and goes away for a bit after I eat and I have called the surgeon's office 3 times, its always she will call you back. Yeaaaa At this point they can kiss it where the sun don't shine. I left a message to my primary to see what she can do to help me out. I started taking Omeprazole (OTC) to help and low and behold no more pain or rumbling tummy. So symptoms are managed. Only thing I noticed is the weight loss has increased. I usually lose up to 3 lbs per week and it's about 1 lbs a day so that's a bit concerning. Not complaining but just a tad concerned. Anyone have an ulcer? How long did it take to heal?

    Head hunger is real....OMG

I also get pretty sick if I overeat. I have come to learn when to stop and walk away from the plate because I want to avoid feeling that way again after eating. Once your signals start you will learn to stop as well.
  6. Umm yea so what happens when your Ferritin levels are too high? Do they have you stop taking your vitamins? Mine is at 583 ng/mL. Test results say this is the standard range 3 - 126 ng/mL

    Fatty Liver almost Cirrhosis

He is doing ok now, he's about 3 years out from transplant. Now all I have to do is get him to eat healthier. Your boyfriend can really help you after you see the liver clinic especially with the diet they may recommend. Or if your eating plan is ok then he can be your cheerleader to help you stay on course.

    Fatty Liver almost Cirrhosis

Hi, I'm going to say the same thing others have written. Only you can decide for yourself. One of the things that pushed me for surgery is that I had a fatty liver and didn't want to go through being sick because of my liver. One of the hardest things I have ever done is watch my son go through end stage liver disease and the subsequent transplant he was able to get. I would never wish having to get that sick on anyone. I'm sure your boyfriend is concerned about you but when you go to the clinic ask the doctor what can happen if your liver reaches the tipping point where it won't regenerate and then make your decision based on the information you get.

    Trouble eating

I can't eat as much as I did a month ago. Normally I would eat around 1.5 to 2 oz of meat (usually chicken) and 2 oz of veggies. I can't finish either. I weigh all my food and nothing has changed at all. I am having to drink more shakes to try and make up for the loss of protein. Has this happened to anyone? What did you do?

Gastric bypass stall in weight loss

Only weighing in once a month! I don't think I can do it. I think that's the hardest thing to do. I'm down to weighing once a week now but will admit I was weighing everyday. I had to go down to every other day then twice a week and now I'm at once a week.

My brain still thinks I'm a size 28

My bigger clothes are still sitting in bags waiting to go to Goodwill. I can completely understand the struggle to get rid of your bigger clothes. What helped me somewhat is to go and try on some new clothes at the store. Now if I can only get myself to buy them. LOL

    3 months out

I just saw my dermatologist yesterday morning and she said exactly the same thing you did.

    Stalls??

I really wish more doctors and Nutritionist would give more detailed info on stalls. Mine only gave us a paper saying stall will happen with a pic of a staircase. I would think this board would see a lot less posts on stalls if they only explained it better.

    Stalls??

I think I might be a close runner up to Queen of the Stalls. LOL we will see. I had my first stall two weeks after surgery that lasted about two weeks. I have since then had one every month since surgery. They usually last up to two weeks with the main one lasting 3 weeks. This last one is still going on. Meh It will drop eventually.

    I was gonna gripe

But now I'm not. I was super pissed about being in yet another stall, pissed I haven't lost any more weight. Extremely pissed about the amount of pain I am in. Pissed that I ran into coworkers and friends, one of which accused me of lying about getting the surgery. (sigh) Then in today's true fashion I open up Facebook and find out a close relative just passed. There went my opportunity to see her again. There went opportunity to hang out and do some fun stuff and spend quality time with her. We always think there is plenty of time left but sometimes there's not. I decided my petty issues were just that...petty. Time to focus on what's in front of me and having this surgery is allowing me to do things I couldn't a year ago.
  17. I got so busy baking a pound cake for my son to take tomorrow and doing laundry that I forgot to snack. Here rolls around dinner time. I had broccoli and chicken. I ate too fast due to hunger. I got about 4 bites in and my stomach felt like it had lead in it. I then sneezed five or six times in a row and knew I ate way too fast. All I can say is oww, oww, oww. They told me to eat slowly and I have been following that rule but not today and I paid for it. It hurt. So here I am an hour later sipping on a protein shake because I didn't finish eating. Gonna make sure I follow that rule particularly. Lesson learned. When they say eat slowly they are not messing around.

    Liver Problems

Sounds like you got some good info. I hope it gives you some comfort to find its not uncommon for whacky liver numbers after surgery. I think your going to be ok.

    Liver Problems

Sorry you are going through all this. Since they don't know exactly what is causing such high numbers the biopsy is a good thing. It will give them a good look at your liver health and if there are any problems. My thoughts are try not to freak out so much, take a deep breath. Better that they check you early rather than late so they can figure out the best way to help you. Signed Mom of a liver transplant patient.
  20. Yes, this is quite true. I stopped two weeks before surgery and ended up having my oxygen levels drop during the surgery. From what I heard it probably wouldn't have happened if I stopped vaping sooner rather than later.
  21. Try lowering the amount of nicotine you are vaping in. So if you are at 6mg go down to 3 mg and then move on to 0 mg. That's what helped me.

    Food intolerance after wls

Mine have been eggs, beef and plain water. I ate eggs almost every day before surgery, now I can barely tolerate them. Beef just sits super heavy in my stomach. I used to drink plain water before surgery and now can barely stand it. I use flavored water now except for the fruit punch flavor. I just can't with that. I'm still kind of early in so we will see.

    Low weight loss

Don't feel bad it will come off. I loss 15 lbs my first 3 weeks out. I started at 264 and was 249 at 3 weeks and I lost nothing before surgery.

    Question on hair loss

I've been eyeing a pixie cut but I want it curly. Would be nice if my new growth comes out curly.
