  1. You might want to see if you can get them to cover the panniculectomy. Start with your primary doctor. If they won't cover that then as of this time last year they quoted me (San Diego) $11,000. I paid $5,500 because I upgraded from the panniculectomy, Hope this helps.
  2. Some of this should have been put in bold. "But make sure you like your surgeon's work. Often plastic surgeons who take insurance aren't always the ones with the most pleasing outcomes."
  3. So my insurance will cover the panniculectomy however the Plastic surgeon recommended to just do the tummy tuck. (for less than full price) I really don't know what to pick. Is there a big difference? If you had either procedure done are you happy with your results?
  4. Hi, I'm sure that last bit of weight will eventually come off. Just wanted to drop by and say Wow look at you! You look great!!!!!
  5. This is very true of Kaiser. Your pannus has to hang down pass the mons area. Kaiser did cover my panniculectomy but I upgraded to the tummy tuck ($5500 in San Diego) so because some of it was covered I got half off. I'm now two days postop. Hope this helps.

    Is it just me or…

Just try and ignore what is being said and keep your eye on your goals.

    Constipation 😭😭

I'm so sorry you are going through this but like others have said it will get better as you eat more. I used to take daily Fiber and bought protein shakes that had fiber in them to stay regular. Now all I use is a daily protein shake with fiber in order to reach my daily fiber goal since I'm getting more fiber from food.
  8. I had issues trying to take pills because I always had to use a lot of water so that was out. Now I can take pills but usually opt for chewable if I can. I was also told no NSAIDs ever again.

    One year!!!

So, today It's been officially one year since my surgery. Yay! I am very happy about how much I lost. I started at 264 and am now at 154 and still want to lose a little bit more so my doctor can refer me to plastics. It's slow going but it's going. I wasn't sure what I was going to write but decided to just go with how I was feeling. One of things I love is I'm much smaller and have more energy but I am also a bit resentful. Bigger people aren't taken seriously sometimes by doctors. I complained of chest pain before the weight loss and was told your blood pressure is too high. Now that I am smaller I was told well that shouldn't be happening and got a CT scan done on Thursday. I had to take prednisone and Benadryl because I'm allergic to the dye contrast. Well they did find two blockages in my arteries one at 70% so tomorrow I have to go in and get a stent put in and I'm a bit pissed off that this could have been taken care of earlier if they had taken my concerns seriously. I haven't done any exercise in a month cause I'm too scared I'll keel over with a heart attack. The moral of this story is to pay attention to your body and if you have concerns speak with your doctor and be insistent if you need them to listen.
  11. I'm just really depressed about my hair. I knew I would lose some hair but I just didn't expect to lose so much. Even a pixie cut (which I wanted) wouldn't look right. Only saving grace is that the hair loss has slowed down. But not gonna lie I feel at a lost.

    Getting frustrated

I am going to second what Catwoman7 said. I have had and sometimes continue to have stalls. I'm almost a year out and have had so many it can sometimes be ridiculous. Just stay on course and it will pass.
  13. I dropped two dress sizes and didn't realize it. I always buy pants and skirts with elastic and decided to get a skirt without elastic I really wanted. Tried it on and it could slip past my hips and had to get a smaller size. Not a big victory but I'll take it. I also had my feet shrink down a size. So none of my shoes fit me right. Guess its time to go shopping. 😃

    Horrible Constipation

Sorry to hear you are having issues with constipation. i too had it pretty bad and remember those days well. I ended up using an enema for relief. The secret to the enema is to (TMI) try and wait to use the bathroom for a few minutes after you have finished the enema. Miralax did nothing for me and since I can't swallow pills the stool softeners were out. I just made sure to use benefiber every day. You will soon learn how much fiber you need to take in to stay regular and once you start to add more fruit and veggies in your diet it will get much better. Hope this helps.

Tea actually does satisfy some cravings

Hmm...maybe I should give this a try. I find I crave things to eat in the late evening. I miss having tea. Chamomile was always a favorite.
  17. So I have been around the same weight for a little over a month. Sometimes gaining a pound or two then losing it back. My question is once your weight loss really starts to slow way down like mine did will you continue to lose weight? I am eating around 900 calories per day with 30 minutes of exercise. Is this enough or do I need to revamp my calories down? Thanks

    So depressed about my hair

Update* I finally went ahead and had my hair cut above my shoulders. The exact style isn't exactly what I wanted but I love my wavy hair. There is some small growth but I still have a way to go.

    SO FLIPPING COLD!

I'm using a small portable heater, wearing heavy clothes, socks etc. I used to love the cold and looked forward to this time of year. Not anymore. I hate this. While my body is warm my face is cold and nose runs constantly. Not to mention a lot of people will pass out if they saw my electric bill. Thought I never would say this but I can't wait for summer!

Working from home after gastric bypass

I took ten days off and wish I had taken a bit more time. If I needed to rest it was easy but trying to make it through the day when you feel weakness was a bit hard. Overall only you know your own body and what you are capable of and speak with your doctor to find out the average time off most patients take and go from there.
  23. For me this was the hardest part to deal with after surgery. My issue is and was that I had already had some hair loss before surgery and now I see a lot of scalp. My plan was to get a curly hair cut and once I see my stylist she may be able to still do it though I'm not holding out hope for that. My hair is finally starting to grow back though I still have a lot of scalp showing and the hair loss has slowed down. Hang in there it will get better.

do you ever just feel huge? lol

I feel this way every time I look in a mirror. Even though my clothes are huge on me it still feels like I haven't loss anything. People will tell me oh you lost weight and look smaller and that small part of my brain will think they are just being nice and playing along. Like others on this topic my weight loss has slowed down but I keep trying and moving on.

    eating out at pureed stage

My first time out on the puree stage, we went to a Thai place. I ended up getting Tom Yum soup. I didn't eat the veggies but the broth was great. I went back a couple of days later to get more to take home.
