Get fill even though not sticking to diet?
sandra267 replied to SlicedBread's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We all have our issues with food. I believe that if you don't get your fills you are just on another diet plan. To have this tool and not use it is a waste. Good luck. -

Anyone doing Medifast diet with the Band?
sandra267 replied to sadie11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
IMHO, medifast/optifast is something that is hard to stay on. If you have the band than it would help you stay on it. I might be doing the medifast because I love to just pick up something and go and isn't it high in protein? I have issuses with thining hair. I will not be doing medifast for the rest of my life. After awhile on medifast don't you slowly intro. other foods. When you go off of medifast the band will help you in your maintence phase. I have an upcoming surgery so I can't do anything until February. Sadie, where are you ordering your medifast from? -
Why does discovery health do so many reruns? I love the show I Lost It. Why don't they make new shows?

I had lap surgery that turned in to an open procedure. So a six inch scar/ 3 small incisions. I use shea butter and thye are healing well. I am having another surgery soon that could leave me with a 12 inch scar across my stomach. But in time that will heal too. I am nervous about hanging skin.

Get fill even though not sticking to diet?
sandra267 replied to SlicedBread's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Regardless of what she eat, after a fill hopefully she will eat less of it. Since she has this tool IMHO she should use it by getting a fill when needed. -
wondering about the insurance and if you all would do it again?
sandra267 replied to violakaake's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would do it again in a heart beat. Insurance approval was fast and easy. I ended up staying in the hosipital longer because they found something that would not have been found if I did not have surgery. This surgery was a blessing. I had my first fill today and it was painless. -

Is it possible that when you go in for a fill...
sandra267 replied to health4life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just had a fill today. I did not have to stop eating. I had a turkey bacon sandwich before I left. I only had 4cc because of an upcoming surgery. I had a cup of chili soup and could really fell it. My surgeon did not give me any special diet today, but I will take it easy. -
I work at a school. An elementary school where everyone is in your buisiness. I do not want to tell people at work that I am having the lapband. I have to submit a request for sick time for the surgery to my principal. My doctor would give me a generic note. My principal would not let up until she knew what was going on. She can't keep a secret. If I tell her I would have to tell everybody. Anyone have any suggestions about what to tell her and my coworkers?

Thanks guy, I just told everyone I was having the lapband. No one has been negative. I was wasting too much time and effort thinking about people finding out, and for what? Thanks again. Sandra

Surgery is tomorrow... Im starting to get scared...
sandra267 replied to h@rt*s mommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am nervous too. My surgery date is 10/23. I could not sleep last night. You will be fine. This time tomorrow it will be over. -
Jazzy4health, If I only used castille soap on my hair when I was natural, my hair would have looked like a brillo pad. I have sisterlocks. When I was natural I condition washed and used a lot of products to soften my hair. Being natural slowed down the alopehia (sp?) I haven't had surgery yet. I am one of those people that love to prepare for thing, so I have been preparing for surgery. Good luck Sandra

I have upped my protein, doing hair and nail vitamins from GNC. I hoping that my system will be so strong that my hair will not fall out. My hair is finally started filling in with these locks. I refuse to have it fall out. Yes sisterlocks are exipensive but I am going to take the class and do it myself. I also don't buy any other products, only castille soap for shampoo. I has been worth every penny that I have spent so far.

Where will YOU shop?
sandra267 replied to skinnyoneday's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I love me some ashley stewart. They just came to my area. I don't see myself going beyond a 12 so I will continue to shop there. I am really not a shopper. What I want to do is go and get measured for a good fitting bra. And hopefully my feet will go back to a size 10. -
Thanks for all the help. Peace and blessings Sandra

Good Complete Liquid or Chewable Mutivitamins and proteins
sandra267 replied to Sistergrl25's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I got centrum chewables at wallmart. I also brought chewable calcium called oscal. I have been looking for carnation sugar free but have not found it. GNC has something ( I am on vacation and don't have the name of it with me) It has 40-50 grams of protein. It comes in fruity flavors. You might want to check that out. -

I didn't get the bypass because of the hair loss too. I just got sisterlocks in June. I have been doing protein, and taking biotin. I have not been banded yet. I will watch my protein and hopefully keep my locks.

Serious problems with the lap band....
sandra267 replied to Shauna80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would guess that there are more people coming in due to weight issues than wls issues. My mother's doctor asked her, "How many senior citizens do you see who are obese?" Obesed people don't live as long as people who are not obese. My sister had a stroke at 34 years of age. She had a baby/high blood pressure/and gained 150 pounds. She has a pace maker and can not use her right side of her body. She has since lost the weight but she is my biggest supporter. If this surgery was available 15 years ago she would have did it. I will take my chances on this surgery because as I see it there is a bigger risk for me if I don't do it. Peace and blessings
