Food Before and After Photos
Sunshine Princess replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love to cook so i'm finding all sorts of ways to get creative with the pureed foods! Its a bonus when my husband who can eat whatever he wants and lose weight says "that looks good" and then tries it! -
Literally crying right now

You're doing great and this is something that will happen along the way. I wonder if the "hunger" could actually be solved with a few sips of water or tea and re-centering yourself? And the restriction will kick in over time, it just might vary from person to person. You've totally got this. -

Went to Flavortown on the puréed express with some puréed rotisserie chicken with some Greek yogurt and a smidge of honey mustard. I topped it with some mashed avocado. I split this into two portions and had it for lunch and dinner yesterday. -
Good Luck!!!!!

I had some canned chicken (2 Oz) with a little sugar free bbq sauce and it took me straight to Flavortown. My surgery was last Monday. If anyone starts on puréed foods, go small and creamy at first. Nonfat yogurt, hummus, refried beans are good starters.

Anyone else have boundless energy after surgery? I’m a little under a week out and my energy levels are through the roof. I haven’t felt this energized in nearly five years. I have had very little pain or soreness since getting home from the hospital. I feel kind of weird, like maybe my surgeon is a wizard or something?

The burning pain you feel is the nerves around the surgery site getting sensation back. This happens anywhere from four days after surgery up to a month.

Social eating after gastric sleeve
Sunshine Princess replied to TriStateSleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have an active work life that requires client meals. When I have to meet with clients and eat, i plan on grazing on an appetizer and that’s it. I’ll be six months out from surgery around Thanksgiving and I’ll be doing most of the cooking so I’ll be sure to have things i can eat before dinner and during dinner that aren’t heavy. My husband and i still eat together, he eats what he made and i eat what i made but we still share meals together. I don’t plan on excluding myself from family gatherings or social events, I’ll just eat what I can and that’s that. I don’t want food to rule my life like it did before. And i plan to refocus these times with family and friends as more social with less emphasis on eating. I was never a drinker so me not drinking wouldn’t phase anyone. -
I can’t quote for some reason on the app but @farfeldiego that’s amazing!!! Good job!!! Especially on the snoring!

You can also try a gentle massage on the area to move the gas. You may burp like crazy but it works. I use my fingertips and go in circles and it helped move my gas post surgery.

Started on purée/ mashed foods today. Hummus and avocado never tasted so good!

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

This is huge for me. I haven’t walked this many steps in quite a while. I have so much energy and I’m only four days post op. -
Throat burns post sleeve
Sunshine Princess replied to ShoppGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Correct. Those two medications are the front line for GERD and work really well. -
I just had a teaspoon of hummus with a teaspoon of avocado topped with a teaspoon of greek yogurt and it. was. GLORIOUS. I'm four days out and my surgeon gave me the greenlight to work in small amounts of pureed food.

Anyone denied AND they meet ALL criteria/co-morbidities
Sunshine Princess replied to Mariann812's topic in Insurance & Financing
I totally misread this as you were denied. Oops. But for those with employer sponsored health insurance: Read the denial letter. It will give you information on why you were denied and next steps. Common reasons for denial: 1. Missing criteria 2. Not a covered service under the plan (employers can exclude bariatric coverage from their plans or it’s not offered at certain market sizes such as under 100/small group plans) 3. Alternative treatment/step therapy required such as nutritional counseling, medically supervised weight loss 4. Procedure not covered; alternative procedure covered Example: duodenal switch isn’t covered but the sleeve is 5. Age -either too young or too old All denial letters will give you next steps to take action and appeal the decision. I suggest work with your provider to file the appeal. I’ve been in health insurance for nearly a decade and i have seen these denials before. -

Sunshine Princess replied to Mariann812's topic in Insurance & Financing
What was the reason for the denial? The denial letter should state the reason why like missing criteria, not a covered procedure (not all plans cover bariatric surgery, especially if it’s employer sponsored coverage), alternative treatment needed for x amount of time? Cigna is a great insurer, i like them almost as much as i love BCBS/Anthem so there should be a concrete reason for the denial. -

I did not mean to minimize the male experience. You are correct, men who are obese arent given a pass and are just as much a target for ridicule as women. I do find that the "dad bod" look is acceptable but women who have an ounce of body fat where it shouldnt belong are considered disgusting.

Ok, so here's some SUPER flattering pics lol
Sunshine Princess replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
These pictures were all of my expressions after surgery. My stomach looks like i went a few rounds with a boxer and obviously lost. My husband wants to get paint samples to match the blue-purple bruises for our bedroom since we’re looking for a darker color 🤣 -
How long were you off work after surgery?
Sunshine Princess replied to healthy granny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today was my first day back. If i had to commute, i would not have returned this quickly and would have taken at least 8 business days off. I was able to get up and walk around which helped immensely. Since I’m still on liquids, sipping water and protein shakes was no big deal. I used my lunch time to take a 30 minute nap and will take another one shortly. My job is pretty sedentary; needing to get up and walk will be harder when 4th quarter starts and I’m in meetings all day but i have a while away to plan for that. -
Peppers, Peppers, everywhere Peppers!!!
Sunshine Princess replied to OnMyWay1956's topic in Rants & Raves
I feel this. I hate cooked peppers, especially green peppers, in frozen foods. The taste is overpowering and they’re always mushy. -

Sunshine Princess replied to healthy granny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery on Monday and am returning to work tomorrow. I work from home and my boss understands that I’ll be stepping away from time to time to rest, walk around, etc. -
Walking, a heating pad, and having my husband run my back resulting in some burps that would cause frat boy envy has helped me with the gas pain. I also have done some gentle upper body stretching as well. My surgery was Monday and I feel great. I took a shower today and it felt like the best shower ever.
