    Fat Shaming

Now that was interesting and I've read on this very forum where some people have complained about their own doctor. What I found interesting were the comments below? Some people completely missed the point of the article. Here's a gem: "However, I think it's really condescending of you (and everyone who thinks that way) to think that these folks need doctors to point out to them that they are obese and that it would be better if they were not obese" It's not like the doctor walked up to someone in the chips and cookie isle at the grocery story and said you don't need those fattie!! When I go to my doctor I want the truth, and I can handle the truth. tmf

Vasovagal Syncope ( Fainting ) episode

I missed this thread when it started I used to have similar bouts with nearly passing out during bike rides. Seems that I'd ride for 30-40 minutes and if I stopped and stepped off the bike, I'd get dizzy and have to take a knee. Doc told me to stop taking my furosemide and HZG pills for high blood pressure. He said with my weight loss I didn't need them any longer. Good luck with the diagnosis. tmf

    Where do i start.

If you're on a PC, at the top and bottom of this page are search engines to find surgeons in your area. Read here as much as you can but try to go to 2-3 seminars in your area. Most surgeons talk about all the different WLS techniques at these seminars and usually you can schedule a consult while you're there.
  7. I was going to say something but everyone said exactly what I was going to say jk The fear of not being able to eat the foods that gave me comfort held me back for about 2 years. I never cried over it but those fears kept me from pulling the trigger sooner. But like inchik said, you don't have to give up those foods(unless it's sugary pop and ice cream). Still, you can have those foods but in much much smaller quantities. I always like this quote from Pinkdahlia: "I'm so stinkin' thrilled with my weight loss i dont even care about what i cant eat!" And she's so right. Once I got the fill that started my journey, I could care less what foods I shouldn't eat. And, moreover, those foods no longer gave me comfort, my own personal confidence is what gives me comfort. And confidence sticks with you much longer than food ever will. tmf
  8. Hi I need some advice.I had my lapband on 2/3/2014 and I am on normal foods but I can eat like a horse.I am trying to stay on the right portions but I am always hungry.Any advice You should always start a new thread or topic if you're going to change the direction of a thread. There are only 5 people following this thread and if you start your own topic, hundreds of eyes will see your topic and many more will/can respond. You're in Bandster Hell. That's the period between surgery and getting the proper adjustment(fills) to allow your band to work it's magic. Most everyone goes through this and this is the period where your journey is just another diet till you get enough fills to feel satiety/restriction. The best you can do is to consume more Protein and consume protein first. Good luck.

    Why I'm Here

ger, you're the 3rd patient in the last 3 days to report a botched surgery. If you seek help here we'll need more info? Date of new surgery? Beginning and current weight? Height? Fills? What are you eating now? Do you track calories and how many calories/day do you consume? Do you exercise? Any other co-morbids?

    4 years post-op and fill

Oh yeah, we see folks fall off the wagon and get back on 7-8 years out. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

    Lap Band Removal Surgery

Yes, I had my band removed several months ago. Port infections can originate at the band site and migrate along the tubing to the port. I had band complications that included achalasia like symptoms. I have no plans to revise on the advice of my esophageal specialist. Best of luck to you! _______________________________________________________________ 2muchfun: #2 I think you can find much support and info here: http://www.bariatric...eeve-revisions/ Like This Fat loss vs. muscle gained: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=PBJziqgrQgk You assumed the OP was interested in a revision, specifically sleeve. That's pretty silly. You're one of the very few X-Banders who lurk here offering advice so I sent her where the numbers are. Now she has the benefit of your story and the opportunity to explore many more bandless patients.

    Just wondering

I've never heard of a size 8 band? Most bands are 4 cc, 10 cc and 14 cc.
  15. This is true. It's just the mantra that's spewed by surgeons who try to sell their personal choice of surgery. If you say something enough people will believe it. You know Sandy the funny thing is I was told by my weight center that they would prefer people do not get banded anymore because of the amount of aftercare required and the amount of failure due to non compliance. I find it rather sad that Surgeon's cannot be bothered. They're almost as bad as non complaint patients. What's is even more sadder is they still offer the band even with that attitude because they don't want to turn away the money from people who are set on being banded. Nice to see an honest reply from a doctor as to why the band isn't recommended any longer.

    is this normal?

    I'm not understanding your question?
  17. If you go to the top or bottom of this page, you'll find a link to a search engine for finding surgeons by zip code, state and city.

    Can you shrink the pouch

I wouldn't assume your pouch is stretched/dilated without a barium swallow. Here's a site designed mostly for Bypass patients but can work for band patients too. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ I sometimes wonder if I'm stretching/dilating my pouch too. But the mere fact that sometimes I get stuck on one or two bites of food tells me that my pouch is most likely right where it's always been. Gaining weight is simple math. If you're eating more calories than you burn you'll gain weight. Being able to eat more food than you did a year ago is most likely you're not tracking calories and/or eating slider foods?
  19. No need for this kind of speech here?

    How many did you get

You're a worrier aren't you? LOL...No need to worry. I've never heard of anyone stretching their pouch on liquids or mushies. I think you may have a misunderstanding of how your band and pouch operate. When you have time, watch all of these videos. They're much more informative than any seminar I went to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa3Lwt6ElIs&list=UL Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4jYJipQ7vc part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbdhf44ZweI&feature=relmfu Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF3TCKUn3YI Part 4

    Band Slipped and unfilled

Unfilling the band is the normal Protocol for minor slips and yes it can go back to its original placement.

    Third day after lap band....

Your band is inside your body and you will never see it. It's underneath your sternum/breastplate. The bulge you speak of is probably the port where saline will be injected. The swelling will go down some but there will probably always be a bulge there. You can sleep anyway you want to as long as you're comfortable. Laying on the incisions could cause some irritation though?
  23. 2muchfun

    How many did you get

I didn't know either. Thought the journey started as soon as I had surgery but for me, it didn't start till my 3rd fill 4 months after surgery. Disappointing but you get over it.

    pop

Stop buying pop and recumbent bikes work for me. Elliptical too, but it will depend on what type of knee injury you have? Rowing? If I have girl scout Cookies in the house, I'll eat them. If not, I don't. No pop in house, no pop in tummy. tmf
