    Failed

Could be a case of dilation of the pouch or esophagus? Can I ask what your normal daily diet looks like for you to not lose weight. Be back in the morning btw.

    First time food stuck

I've been stuck a lot over the last 2 1/2 years and have never had pain when I ate again soon after. But, it's conceivable that you caused some swelling and bruised the stoma. Remember to eat very small, eat very slowly and chew to mush.

    sick of 'IS THIS NORMAL'

I know sometimes it's just a head shaker but most of these folks have no clue how our bodies work and how we lose weight. Nutritional ignorance is one of the main reasons many people are obese. They've buried their heads in the sand for a long time. But this site is designed to help all who want to post so buck it up and reply with a smile if you can. I've probably answered hundreds of these posts and it is repetitive but so many didn't listen in the orientation or nut classes they truly have no idea. tmf

    lap band removal

So sorry for you. I've told myself that if my band lasts 7+ years I'm OK with that, but to not have the tool is a nightmare to me. Keep us informed as you progress?

    Stoamach gurgeling

You don't want to tempt the flu gawds by filling your stomach with stuff it can throw up if you think you might have a bug? Vomiting is one of the main concerns for band slips in the first 30 days. The convulsion can tear the sutures away and cause the band to migrate. Stick to Water or other benign fluids if you're feeling ill. If you're not ill, gurgling is normal and won't stop now or maybe ever. Mine still gurgles, swishes, rumbles every day.

    Please help!

Relax, it's all normal and happens to many bandster's. And trust in your doctor. He's right, you don't lose much fat till your band is adjusted properly. The weight we lose post surgery is mostly Water so when you start up on solids again, your body restores it's previous water retention level. Body temp problems!

Don't be concerned about bothering the doctor. You just paid him $3K. Make him earn it. And if he's a professional, he'll welcome the call and want to make sure you're OK.

    Port site discomfort

I think you could be right about the less fat idea. And, if you're active, this could irritate some tissue too?

    Nutrition & Nails

Check with your nutritionist? It's always a good idea to meet with the nut once every year or two anyway.

    Sudden Pain in Port area

Call your doctor on Monday morning unless he has a call anytime policy. Were you able to feel your port with your hands before this and if so, has the form changed at all? There are several stitches holding the port in place and one of the stitches may have torn? No biggy but you should let your doctor know?

    3 weeks post removal

Good for you. So good to hear you're moving on after such a disappointment. Did you see this post later in the day? You're just one of a few who might be able to answer her questions? http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/305589-lap-band-removal/?p=3450683

    lap band removal

Most of us can't help you but here's a few who have similar experiences: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/305584-3-weeks-post-removal/?p=3450636 and search for Bandarella http://www.bariatricpal.com/user/198018-bandarella/ And we all feel for you and harbor similar fears
  14. Justwatch, If you convey to your doctor what you just posted, he will know what to do and I'd bet he'll have you wait 4-6 weeks to get your first fill.
  15. In my mind there are two types of stuck that I deal with. One is, the large chunk of bread or chicken that is lodged in your stoma and that feeling has some pain and discomfort associated with it. It can produce a lot of slime and I attempt to PB it but usually fail. The other feeling is eating too fast and not allowing the mushy bolus of food enough time to be pushed through your stoma. This feeling for me is a soft-medium push under my breastplate/sternum and may or may not incorporate a little slime. It means I need to take longer between bites to allow my esophagus to do it's job. If I'm eating dry foods I may use a glass of water between bites so that I don't get stuck because let's face it, there are some foods that don't want to cooperate and some days my band is fussy and hates everything.

    Confused

I'd add a visit to your nutritionist too.

    Having trouble finding appetite

Just make sure you're loading up on vitamins and protein. You don't want to start losing hair.

    What the heck!

My doctor, all the different manuals and YouTube videos I've been exposed to have never condemned any particular food in regards to the band. In fact, the entire idea behind the band is that we can enjoy the foods we love but enjoy them in much smaller quantities. My question to those who state their doctor or nut said no to certain foods, are you interpreting their statements correctly? We got a lot of information thrown at us in seminars, orientation and nut classes. It would be easy to confuse "no beef or shrimp" for the first 6 months with no beef or shrimp ever?? Or did the doctor say, "many patients don't tolerate beef, hamburger or shrimp so I don't recommend eating these foods till you're familiar with how your band will react? For me, the beauty of the band is that it gives me the satiety with very small amounts and with any foods(except sliders of course). Food eaten as we bandster's have been trained to eat, should include most all foods. However, there are those who prefer a very tight band and some meats, breads and consistencies will never work.

    What the heck!

So, your band is empty now and you got stuck on hamburger. Did you take a very small bite and chew it to mush?

    Knees.

Just my opinion and I have a lot of experience with bad knees and exercise equipment, but your Doc and your Hubbie are for a better word, WRONG! Excess weight on bad knees equals you grinding off what's left of your cartilage and an early visit to the orthopedic doc for knee replacements. BTW-I'm only 5' 6" and my wife is 5' 3". She rides our recumbent bike with no problem so you're not too short. Heck, even my daughter who is 5' 2" can ride it. It's a Schwinn and I got it off Craigslist for $75. If all else fails, quality knee braces will help take a few lbs off your knees. But, good knee braces cost more than a stationary bike. You can't just buy them off the shelf and get great results. imo tmf

    Knees.

Elliptical, stationary bike, recumbent bike, regular bike would all be so much easier on your knees. Craigslist has some great bargains and there's probably hundreds of people who have given up on their New Years resolution by now? I can't walk 1/2 mile without my knees killing me. But, I can ride up to 40 miles on my bike. I routinely ride 10+ miles a day. I lose about 600 calories in less than an hour. I should have pulled the trigger last fall to have my knees replaced but I chickened out. Not this fall though.

    I really do have legs!

    Aren't you the pretty one?
  23. Focus on Protein like Mikee said. I always have a baggie of mesquite smoked turkey in the fridge to take the edge off. There's this new cream cheese with extra protein in it that you can lather up the turkey or even some deli ham and that's a good snack that sticks with you. I feel your pain too. I was banded 11/28/2011 and I was in Bandster hell for 4 months. Right where you are. But my doctor was much more aggressive. It pisses me off that some of these docs drag this out. I understand the reasoning for taking 2-4 fills to find some restriction but your doc's one of those who is overly cautious.. It's tough, but you might have to get assertive with your doc and tell him you aint waitin no longer. Let's launch this rocket now!!

    Scale not moving?

I should have posted this link. It explains why we lose 10 lbs right after surgery: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html

    What the heck!

Meatloaf works for me but I still have to eat very small bites, chew a lot and take my time. Sometimes catsup helps it slide through.
