    I band!

I believe it's band w/plication. Plication is where the surgeon folds the lower stomach inwards so there's less space for food.

    Beginning Plateau

You might want to edit your dates? 5/14? Oh yes, it's very normal and almost all WLS have a similar experience. But 4 lbs in 10 days is incredible. Most of us would die to have this kind of loss!! It's not a plateau if you're still losing weight especially 4 lbs in 10 days. Here's an article that explains why we plateau right after surgery: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UqP7uBLn-Uk

    Day 6 Post Op

Nap Time? I think I did the same and laying on the couch for hours the next day sure helped.

    I band!

CarolinaGirl did and she's lost hundreds of lbs. Wish I would have known about this when I was banded?

    Blew it today

Plenty of people have been on clear liquids as long as 6 weeks so shut down the pity party and stop cheating. Sorry for the tough love but your sutures are still fragile and you could cause them to tear away by eating solid food so early. You may have gotten away with it this time but next time, maybe not? It's not worth the risk and it is risky eating solids so soon. Picture your pouch. Your stomach just below the band was pulled over the band and sutured to your pouch. It has several very small sutures in it and overfilling or even making your stomach go into peristalsis could cause those sutures to tear away. And Chasing Dreams is right. Don't beat yourself up. Just stay away from temptation for the next 2 weeks.

    Feeling Defeated

Been a while since I posted this! So I'm sorry to be too graphic here but remember, someone filled your body cavity full of gas, they pumped fluids, medications, antibiotics and anesthesia into your body. They punched 5 holes in your abdomen, moved all your inner body parts around, shoved a tube down your throat, took an electric scalpel and burned away excess fat and tissue wrapped around your upper stomach, then wrapped a plastic strap around your stomach just below the lower esophogeal sphincter, stitched it in place with 5-6 sutures bringing your lower stomach up and over the band and then snaked a tube out of your body and then sewed another plastic piece to the muscle tissue on your rib cage. Now, thinking about all that has been done to your body, you're doing quite well aren't you?

Go to a PC and look at this page. At the top and bottom are surgeon search engines. Look up surgeons in your area and start calling.

    1lbs down

It can take many adjustments before you feel enough restriction to avoid being hungry. You're in Bandster Hell now and all you can do is either diet and eat healthy or give in. Don't give in. It took me 3 fills before I started to feel the satiety and another 3 to get to the green zone. Keep getting fills.

    Bad knees

I hear ya. I can't walk a mile anymore without severe debilitating pain. I'm heading for both knees being replaced this fall. Should have pulled the trigger last fall but I chickened out. I'm big on biking and my knees can tolerate a bike ride but they still swell afterwards. I'm thinking I'm going in for one of the big three injections to get me by till October. Euflexxa, Synvisc and Cortisone injections can mitigate your pain while you're losing weight. It can help you move around and exercise if that's your goal? Cortisone only lasts 2-3 months for me but the other two can last up to 6 months. Check with your PCP?

    Happy Bandiversary to Me!

Congrats! You look great! As one who has been here for a long time, the forums have really shaped up and the band bashing has slowed down to a crawl now that Alex stepped in and laid down the rules!

    Munchies, Munchies, Munchies

I have lots of fruit and cheese sticks around if it happens.

    swelling by port

It's usually the last to heal and can take up to 3 months. Sorry, it will probably always protrude since it's weaved into your abs and it is thicker than skin.

    Help with last stone,

cheese is high in fat and not so good on Protein. chicken, fish, low fat beef and pork, eggs, Beans and rice are all good sources of protein. Do you have access to a nutritionist or dietician? A good bariatric nut can guide you to eating a healthier lifestyle with your surgery?

    Hassle of getting approved

There's a search engine on this site for surgeons near you. On a PC it's at the top and bottom or click on this: http://www.bariatricpal.com/surgeons/

    Help with last stone,

Carbs should be the last food you eat after Protein and vegetables.

    Hassle of getting approved

You should get a 2nd or 3rd opinion from a surgeon who does Lapbands. The FDA approved the band for BMI's of 30+ recently.

    Am i loosing my mind!

We don't shoot for full, we shoot for satisfied. But, at this stage you may not have any restriction so you may be able to eat anything in any amount? Till your band is adjusted properly(could be up to 6 fills), you're still on a diet if you want to lose weight. You'll know your food won't go down when you can feel a large golf ball size bolus of food directly beneath your sternum and your nose is running and phlegm(slime) is gurgling up your esophagus.

    A Dilemma

I can understand. FYI-I lost 12 lbs the first two weeks after surgery and then nothing for the next 3.5 months. Then, my 3rd fill and a consult with my nutritionist filled my sails and I was off and running(sailing?) on my weight loss journey. Till then I was pissed off too(never depressed, just angry). But that's all behind me now and it sounds like you too might also be ready to launch? Chin up, ramp up that exercise program and follow your doctor's or nutritionists dietary orders and watch the weight fall off!

    A Dilemma

How much weight have you lost overall and how much in the last 30 days? You might want to update your profile or install one of the weight loss tickers on the site. You will need to use a PC to do this I believe?

    Am i too tight ?

Yes, I've had the stuck episodes in restaurants, home and other parties. It's just something we banders have to deal with. I'd like to say I always eat soup or something soft but I don't and it's easy to get distracted and gobble our food or eat too big causing food to fill our pouches and food backs up into our esophagus. It's uncomfortable I know, but so is being fat so I'll take the weight loss over the discomforts and side effects of being banded.
  23. If you understand how your body works you can weigh yourself every day or twice a day like me and not be discouraged. I know if I consume too much sodium or too many carbs my body is going to retain some Water which is going to show up on the scale. Much of the weight you're losing now is simply fluids your body is holding back. Your journey or whatever you want to call this, will be like a saw blade. There is not a linear line from day 1 to your goal weight for most WLS patients. So, just relax and don't sweat the small stuff like daily or even weekly setbacks. Maybe once you don't lose any fat for two or four weeks you can panic just a little.

    Am i too tight ?

As you describe your normal eating pattern, it would appear as though a very very small unfill would help you so you can consume more Protein and more solid foods. Many of us struggle to get anything more than a shake in the mornings. Most of us are also tighter in the morning. My band is probably a little looser than most and I like it that way. I rely on being able to feel those soft satiety signals to tell me when to stop eating. So, for me, there's a lot of willpower going on(sometimes not much at all ) to keep from eating too much. Yes, you may be a little too tight? And fills performed under X-Rays(fluoro here) may look OK at the time, but we all react a little differently to fills and your stomach lining may have swelled more than some others have which means a smaller stoma.

    Feeling blue

DD, you posted something similar to this just 5 days ago. Nothing's changed. You're still in Bandster Hell and won't feel any restriction or satiety till you get enough saline in your band to feel like you don't need to eat for several hours after each meal. Relax, almost everyone goes through this phase. It's like your nurse said, it's perfectly normal. You haven't failed yet and won't as long as you keep eating healthy and keep getting fills. Ask your doctor if you can get an early fill? It took me 3 fills before I felt any restriction and a total of 6 to get to the green zone. Just keep going in for fills till you get the feeling?
