    Help! I'm vomiting :(

Yes bands slip. But it's not as simple as it sounds. Typically the band will migrate up and over your esophagus or the lower stomach can migrate up through the band causing the pouch to dilate. Burps or hiccups are far too mellow to cause anything like this. Violent vomiting can cause it. Eating too much food and overfilling your pouch can cause it. Sometimes it just happens. Our bodies can do odd things to foreign objects in our bodies. But, slips only occur about 6% of patients.
  3. Enjoy can answer for her own success but I like braggin on her just cuz she's so awesome. There are others here who have found success too. CarolinaGIrl, Gowalking, catfish to name a few. Here's the link to her post about achieving her goal with pictures, recipes and how she did it. Enjoy(pun intended) http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/305070-i-cant-believe-it-is-this-reallty-happening-for-me/?p=3445432

    pain under ribcage

I would call your doctor and ask him what he thinks? What you're feeling is not normal. jmo
  5. You're diet consists of mainly slider foods you know? You're not using your tool if this is what you eat. A consult with your nutritionist might help you out?

Lap Band feels like someone is strangling me

If you google some anatomy images you will see that there's no way the band can strangle you. Your wind pipe(trachea) and esophagus part company about where you larynx is. So, your band is placed around your stomach about 8" away. When does your band hurt? Is it constant or just when you eat or drink? The band is placed about 3 cm below the lower esophageal sphincter. Any higher and it would be around your esophagus. But, bands have been placed there mistakenly by surgeons and sometimes the band can slip above the sphincter. Better check with your doctor?

Reflux? Coughing? Can you eat anything now? Could have been something as simple as being stuck and you're swollen?

    Banded July 2013

A consult with a nutritionist seems to be in order? You should be losing 6+ lbs a month. Do your clothes fit looser? Are you hungry between meals?

    Wake the sleeping bear

Success in small doses is like an aphrodisiac. For most of us, it's much more powerful than the anesthetic effects of food.

    Banded July 2013

We're going to need a lot more information than what you've provided? Why are you not losing? Most people know why or suspect they know why? What do you eat? A typical daily meal would be good to know? How much did you weigh? How much now? How many fills and are you in the green zone? What does your doctor or nutritionist say? Do you exercise? Do you count calories and how many do you consume a day?

    Help! I'm vomiting :(

You said in another thread your band slipped? I'm confused if your appointment isn't till Wednesday, how did you verify your band slipped?
  15. The link takes me to a subscription page. They want money? Too bad, I'd like to read it? Oh, Never Mind.. The 2nd time I clicked on the link it took me to the article.
  16. Usually cold is preferred to reduce swelling. Hockey, football and baseball athletes ICE swollen joints or muscles.
  17. You're not going to lose much weight till your band is adjusted properly and I read where they missed your port. Make them do it under fluoroscopy so you know they're doing it right?

    if band has slipped...

Bands don't corrode. Slipped bands can be removed, repositioned, have saline removed and hope the band returns to it's position. Why worry about it?

    Fill before a vacation....

My opinion, wait till you get back. You should still be feeling some restriction/satiety from your band so why risk the swelling and possible overly tight band for just a week or two? You have years to make this work, no need to panic over a few days.

    4 days after lap band

You're feeling the swelling under the band from eating the potatoes. There are 6-8 sutures securing the part of your stomach that the surgeon pulled up over the band to secure the position of the band. The swelling is normal and can be exasorbated by eating mushy foods at this stage. Go back to your liquid diet and you should be fine. But it's always wise to alert your Dr to any excessive swelling.
  21. I meant to post this yesterday but are there any Survivor watchers here? Watching Tony(a-hole) wolf down that pizza made me feel like a little alien was in my chest and was about to chew it's way out It was hard to follow but I think he was taking one entire slice and folding it 4 ways and shoving it all in his mouth at once. Maybe I'm over-reacting since I can't do that anymore or I don't think I ever could, but it was disgusting and painful to watch. Is it just me? tmf

    exercise!

Look in your nutrition guidelines? Do they allow caffeine? I was asked to avoid caffeine for the first 6 months(I didn't). My nut said it was OK to drink one cup of coffee a day. I think they want to make sure we aren't guzzling coke.
