    I did it! Now what.

Congrats! You're doing much better than most. What food do you want to eat and don't say cake or ice cream, that's a given Most of us just try to eat healthy and occasionally we all fall off the wagon for a day. Before band many of us would spiral into weeks or months of staying off the wagon. But now, the band helps to curb those cravings so it's so much easier to climb back on that wagon and pick right up where we left off. Don't beat yourself up if you fall once. It'll happen someday, just pick yourself up and start again.

    Scared of being STUCK!

Kaela, it's common courtesy here to at least like or acknowledge when people take the time to respond to your comments/questions?

I still have 1 1/2 nanas left in the freezer and will try the PB next time.

This turned out much better than I anticipated except there's no need for the honey and the honey just coagulates as soon as it hits the cold banana so it doesn't blend. Either way it was very tasty except the banana makes the calorie count skyrocket. I guess that's why it tastes so dang good?

    Weight..

Your BMI is under 30 so it's going to be a struggle getting approved. You can gain weight or get shorter to make that BMI higher. Many people fudge on their height??
  6. "to specific modified rules that only apply to me" I cherry picked your post but must say, well said. Some of us adapt to our band to allow it to work for us. Some stick to the original rules. But we all have to seek ways to make this little piece of plastic work it's wonders. Follow the band, when the band says no, I don't like that food, don't eat it. When the band tells us it's OK to have a beer, one beer, don't question it. Flow with what your band tells you. Don't fight it. Very good Point B-52!

    Change in food taste

I'd never heard that before but it appears it's true and Jack Daniels was related to Felix Waggoner. Check out this link? http://www.fohbc.org/PDF_Files/JackDaniels_Cauwels.pdf J"asper "Jack" Newton Daniel was born on September 5th, 1846, the last of ten children born to Calaway and Lucinda Daniel. Jack’s mother died a few months after he was born. When his father later remarried, Jack could not get use to his new stepmother, and after a lot of thinking and talking to his siblings, he decided he would leave home and live with a neighbor. On his sixth birthday, he said goodbye to his favorite sister and told her he wanted to go live with their Uncle Felix. Jack then moved in with Felix Waggoner and his family on a very large farm on the banks of Mulberry Creek in Lincoln County."

1 day post op for the Lapband

Make everyone wait on you. Don't be a heroine. Be lazy and let yourself heal. Don't eat anything you're not supposed to eat. You may feel hungry and feel like you can eat anything, but don't. Your sutures need to heal. BTW-Most of the gas was pumped into your abdominal cavity and will take several days to dissipate. And yes, walking and heating pads can help. That's all I got. Welcome to the other side and lots of luck and well wishes.

    Change in food taste

I was born a Waggoner in Nashville Tn but my Mom remarried and I lost the name about 55 years ago. I don't see Waggoner much our here in Colorado.
  10. "prison of obesity" I'm using this phrase! I aint askin, I'm doin it Yes, we love our pictures and you should be proud of yourself as I know you are. Amazing what this does to our confidence!
  11. "but if there is an underlying sugar or food addiction, the weight will be re-gained" Well, not always, but it sure makes the journey a much bigger struggle. We see this here all the time. People falling off the wagon and then inquiring how to get back on? I seldom see where these addicts were given counseling prior to having the surgery but the patient goes through with WLS only to find the new panacea isn't a panacea at all. tmf

If this isn't good, I'm adding rum
  13. I went to a few Xmas parties in December and the amount of food and the size of the bites people take is alarming? I know I was right there with them for many years but it's no wonder there's an obesity epidemic!

    Just Curious

I don't track carbs but I try to avoid them as much as possible. Rarely do I eat Pasta or sliced bread. I'll have a couple of Oroweat flatbreads a week and also some brown rice. But, I'm a sucker for fruit. I love watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, apples, blueberries. Those I struggle with.

    Change in food taste

My taste for some foods changed and I've read others who voiced similar thoughts. Mostly it's fast foods and some red meats that taste different, not as good. And that's a good thing. W-What part of the country are you from?

    Pneumonia

I don't see how coughing can cause a slip. Your lungs and stomach have little in common. I agree, sit it out a few days and see if everything calms down?
  17. I hope I'm just another chicken little?
  18. No, never had that feeling but I've been reading here a long time and quirky events like yours seem to precede a band slip, dilation or erosion. The plication complicates it though. Most patients with plication have wide open bands so they seldom have slips? Read this: http://www.bariatric-solutions.com/wDeutsch/for-patients/lap-gastric-band/pouch-complications.php?navid=52 BTW-I am by no means a physician and this is something your doctor should evaluate but sudden onsets of painful or uncomfortable gastric complications need the attention of a real doctor.
  19. I don't want to scare you but that's one of the signs of a band slip or erosion? Don't wait for an email, call now. Hope I'm wrong

    Lost on what to do.

What does several fills mean? How many? And when was the last one? What are you eating, what is a typical meal plan for a day? 60 g of carbs is a lot? 100 g Protein is also a lot? What does your surgeon and nutritionist have to say and how long has it been since you've had a follow-up visit?

I believe the plateau is over

    Can you smell one-derland?

    Band Slipped and unfilled

Lucky you, this sounds nothing like a slip. Don't worry about a slip. If you have reflux, severe eating problems or gastro pain see your surgeon. Otherwise see an orthopedic M.D. and not quack-o-practor. jmo ofcourse.
  23. This has been a hotly contested topic for quite some time. Most doctors want us to follow the guidelines you speak of but others don't. If food only stays in our pouch 1 minute, why do we have to wait 30 minutes after a meal to drink?? I usually don't drink with meals at all, but if I'm having leftover chicken or fish that's a little dry, I'll sip as I eat and if I don't, I'll get stuck. I do drink shortly after a meal though. Here's a link to a video of one leading surgeon who is OK with drinking while eating. The entire video is very informative: http://youtu.be/ZZCE8pGJHG4

Firts fill apt = no fill

Question? Did you have plication with your band? I think they call it I-Band?

You bully I went to my local support group last night. I exited the hospital a different way and discovered they'd opened a brand new Dairy Queen/Orange Julius. Oh man, I wanted to pull in there so bad but I didn't. Agreed on the Ice Cream/Kryptonite analogy Recipe? Coconut what? Coconut flakes, real chunks?
