Maybe if you ate something or drink some cold Water?? It's just some kind of vagus nerve reaction and you might want to try to re-stimulate the nerve with something?

Still not able to eat
2muchfun replied to Crystal76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crystal, you are in the minority of people who struggle getting Water down. I could have eaten a pizza 3 days after surgery I think. And I've always been able to chug my cold water. It will get better but your doctor should be taking any Fluid in your band out entirely. imo -
Going to have surgery soon

I had mild apnea and it's mostly gone now. I assume you're on your pre op diet plan now? -
That is a stuck episode and you might want to slow down your eating or eat smaller. I assume if it was soft foods, chewing isn't a problem? Eating too fast is very common and I speak from experience still to this day and I'm 2.5 years out.

Exercise? It does sound like you could use a small fill if you think it wouldn't make you too tight or get stuck a lot?
-
You just pick up where you left off. You start eating like a Bandster and obey the soft stop signals. A fill may make a difference and it may not? If it takes you closer to the green zone it will be more of a mental shock than physical. You will have to learn how to and commit to a different lifestyle if you want this to work. It all depends on how badly you want this?

When did you last see your surgeon for a consult or fill? How many calories do you consume a day and what are you eating? Do you get hungry between meals?

What exactly is clear broth? And some other stuff

Never heard of the decaf coffee for pre op. Some docs want you to give up caffeinated coffee after surgery so maybe this is just a primer to your post op diet. My doc was fine with just one cup or so a day. X-Nay on the carbs. That's usually the one thing they want you to avoid so your liver shrinks. -
Complications With Band..Scare Tactics?
2muchfun replied to HalloweenBaby24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If she wants someone else to pay for it(insurance co), she has to be terribly sick. Otherwise, anyone can pay to have their band removed. The simpler solution is to simply remove all the fluid/saline so the band is not longer squeezing her stomach. Then she can go back to gorging and bingeing. -

You should be proud of yourself. We all know how hard this is and you're already a success. -
You may have to use an ER to get the Fluid removed or see an X-Ray/fluoroscope to see your plumbing? If you can't pay the doctor yourself you have very few choices?
-
Having band surgery is just the beginning. Your weight loss journey won't start till you get the fill or fills you need to feel restriction/satiety. Until this happens, it's just another diet. Your stoma is wide open so you can still eat as before. Your hunger will not go away till you get enough fills to take you to the yellow-green zone.
-
Yes, and as long as you continue to lose weight you may not get a fill. Are you feeling hungry between meals? If you're dieting to lose weight, some of these docs think that's just fine and won't give you a fill till you stop losing or scream loud enough that you're starving.

One more resource. Enter your information in the surgeon search engine and find surgeons near you? http://www.bariatricpal.com/surgeons/

When did you last visit your surgeon or bariatric nutritionist? And do you think your band is filled properly? How long do you stay satiated after a meal? Have you heard of the 5 day pouch test? www.5daypouchtest.com It's actually designed for Bypass patients but can work for we bandster's. I've done it twice now to restart my weight loss. The very most important thing for anyone banded is to have the band adjusted to the green zone. Otherwise, you'll be dieting if it's too loose or puking if it's too tight.

The whole BariatricPal community can be your buddy/mentor. There are many here who have lost 100+ lbs. I doubt anyone can say they've walked in your shoes, but most of us can understand how difficult this truly is? What are your weaknesses? Cravings, sugar, Pasta, binges and are you able to exercise? Don't be afraid to lay it all out there. If anyone is rude, we'll reign them in. Now, if your issue is you walk to the corner DQ every day for a large blizzard, yeah, we're going to let you have it But, speak up, we're all here.

I'm going in this week for my semi yearly Synvisc injection. Synvisc and Euflexxa are injections that go under your kneecap and add a cushion of synthetic synovial Fluid. They don't eliminate the pain completely but I'd say the pain is about 40% of what it was before injections. Check out the synvisc link: http://www.synviscone.com/what-is-synvisc-one.aspx

1 year, 50lbs...only?
2muchfun replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If I didn't exercise, I'd still be up around 230 lbs. -
Not all surgeons are as forgiving as your nurse so it's good you were mostly good. And if someone does cheat, eating carbs should be the last thing you eat. The idea is to squeeze out as much Water out of your liver so the surgeon has access to your stomach.

I'm having the Gastric band tomorrow!
2muchfun replied to messagetosiobhan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome and stay on the pre-op diet. I've read where some docs will close up and not do surgery for people who failed the pre-op diet. You need to shrink that liver so the surgeon can get to your stomach safely. And, you'll still be able to enjoy food, just not in the same quantity as before surgery. -
Shredded chicken is one of the foods most of us struggle to eat. If you're adding some kind of sauce to it that would help it slide through the band but the reason for liquids and pureed this early is so your stomach doesn't have to work too hard to pass food through. You could cause the sutures holding the band in place to detach causing a slip if you eat solid food too soon. Maybe you should follow your doctors orders so you don't injure yourself or the pouch?
