What and how much are you eating? -
BTW-I try to mix them with turkey sausage, omelettes, salsa, veggies so that they go down easier. Still, if you take small enough bites and chew it to death it should pass through the stoma. But we all struggle with bite size don't we? tmf

Eggs are often the topic of discussion as they are one of the biggest obstacles for many bandsters to consume.

Interesting article on the 3,500 calories burned equals a pound of fat discussion
2muchfun replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Very good article. I think for me it validates most of what I've already known but there were two points I really liked: "A lot of patients ask if increasing calorie expenditure through exercise is preferable to decreasing calories consumed, Hensrud explains. "What's interesting is that to keep weight off, the research shows that physical activity is more important for that phase," he says. "But to lose weight, calorie restriction is best." Good to know!! "Another important aspect of weight loss: adjusting expectations. Work to decrease calorie intake and to increase daily activity and exercise. But if you're doing all of those to the best of your ability, it may be time to readjust your idea of what weight loss looks like. "Sometimes success is just maintenance," Hensrud says." The second point is one that comes up often here on the forum. People who are in a plateau don't see a plateau as a success when if not for the band, they would be gaining weight and that's not a success. tmf -
And if you are using IE, go to tools and make sure you add the site to compatability view settings.

I started a new diet every morning the last 8 years leading to my band.

You might want to fill out your profile so we know more about you? I'm just across the border and I'm 1 year 3 months post band. tmf

Wine is just fine but only in limited quantities. Like Terry said, they're liquid calories. I had to give up wine and beer 5 days a week before I started to lose weight. And of course, alcohol will lower your inhibitions so it's easier to binge if you drink too much. tmf

Yes, it should eventually slow down to 2-8 lbs a month. I would imagine that 5 lbs is the avg. tmf

Here are 8 rules to live by. But your doctor may have a different take on your situation? Part 1 part 2 Part 3 Part 4 -
I'm not hungry but that looks scrumptous! I'm gonna make it.

Could she know you had surgery? If she might know then being honest would be the best avenue. Some people may be able to identify with your eating routines if they see you eat? Not many, but a few? I know if I saw someone(who had lost a lot of weight) eating tiny little bites of food and chewing like it was my last bite of food on this earth i might suspect something? tmf

And so often it's folks who could use the band themselves. Jealousy? Envy you had the courage to actually make a difference? Or the "I cut out french fries for a month and ran 3 miles" group? You'll never please everyone but you seem to be pleasing yourself? Good job! tmf

Eggs of all kinds happen to be one of the biggest offenders to the band. On the plus side, you know you have restriction now? -
Success feels like cheating

Almost everyone who loses weight uses a tool. According to many studies, our tool continues to work for years and years. Jenny Craig, Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Slim-fast, nutrisystem, Zone and so on and so on are all tools to lose weight. The fact is, only 15% of obese patients on these programs keep the weight off after 5 years. -
I've told this story before: I told everyone. I work from home. The Fedex guy came to the door and I pulled up my shirt and said "Look what I did"!! Yes, I know, what a maroon? Still, I told everyone I know. Wish I wouldn't have now but it's hard to disagree with the real me

WOW! That's a great NSV story! -
Welcome to "Bandster HELL"! I was in BH for about 4 months. It will get easier but not soon. A fill may or may not minimize the deprivation. You should follow your doctors orders. This stage is like being on a diet and therefore the phrase "until there's restriction...It's just anothe diet". I never liked the feeling of being deprived and being uncomfortable when I dieted. So, during my BH phase I ate healthy foods but probably more calories than recommended so I didn't have those feelings. But, not until I was allowed to eat a normal diet(30 days out). The stage you're in will be tough to endure, but you must follow the rules till you are healed. tmf

So I'm sorry to be too graphic here but remember, someone filled your body cavity full of gas, they pumped fluids, medications, antibiotics and anesthesia into your body. They punched 5 holes in your body, moved all your inner body parts around, shoved a tube down your throat, wrapped a plastic strap around your stomach, stitched in place with 5-6 sutures bringing your lower stomach up over the band and then snaked a tube out of your body and then sewed another plastic piece to the muscle tissue on your rib cage. Now, thinking about all that has been done to your body, you're doing quite well aren't you?

Need some motivation please

I don't mean to be critical of your wanting the sleeve, but you should analyze why you want to make the change? Are you expecting too much of a tool? The sleeve can be just a tool too. If you can't follow the rules now, can you with the sleeve? Not everyone is successful with the sleeve you know? Both take work and commitment. tmf -
The only way to conquer your head hunger is to set up some kind of mental system where you ask yourself before you put food in your mouth, "am I really hungry" and then you can act on that information. Do you decide to put the food down or shove it in your mouth? I'm not saying you will always make the right decision, I know I don't always make the right decision, but after 1 year I'm finally training myself to think before I eat. tmf
