    At my Wit's End

Wow, this gives a new meaning to the phrase, "Don't crap where you eat". Do you alienate your husband by tattling to his doctor or nag him till he leaves you or let him harm himself with a slip or erosion? Hmmm? If he starts to vomit, PB a lot, stop losing weight or experience pain, I would tattle. But you should let him know you're going to tattle. If he continues to lose weight it's hard to argue with success though? Still, his over all health is the most important isn't it? tmf

    NSV???

I'm the cook in the house and I did the same as your wife. Two kids, not finishing tater tots, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese etc. Someone had to eat that crap right? Throw it away!

Help please. Is my band to tight?

Like B52 said, people use vomit incorrectly here all the time. Vomit: Violent rejection of food in lower stomach. Full blown heaving where the stomach convulses and shoots food out your mouth. PB: Productive Burp...This is where we mildly regurgitate food that has not passed through the band to the lower stomach. Still not something we want to be doing but is much less harmful than a outright vomit. Usually a sign we've eaten too quick, too much or failed to chew properly. Which is it?

Help please. Is my band to tight?

Vomitting over a long(or short) period of time can cause your band to slip. Even though you have a pouch and a lower stomach, they are still one organ. Vomitting causes your stomach to convulse violently to eject food in your lower stomach. This can rip the sutures holding the band in place away. Your band can then migrate up or down. PB'ing is a different story. "Does vomiting actually make the band tighten?" Every time you get stuck or vomit you're stomach lining presses hard against the band. The band does not tighten but the lining in your stomach can swell from the trauma of vomitting in the band area. The swelling makes the stoma smaller, i.e. extra tightness. tmf

    Learning how to eat again

It happens to many of us. I'm over a year out and I was stuck at lunch today and I was paying attention. Just keep working at it. tmf

    Weight gain

I'm surprised this is only the second time you've had a small plateau? Sorry, but I copied one of my posts from earlier in the day and I'm just going to repost it here: Your post is similar to so many every day. So yes, nearly everyone(99%?) has experienced going a few days and did not lose weight and maybe even gained a lb or 2? Losing weight vs losing fat are two different things entirely. The band is not a magic wand where we lose fat or weight every day or even every week. Your scale does not separate the two main factors of losing weight. Fat vs fluids! The scale does not know that it's your TOM or that you ate chinese with a 1/4 cup of soy sauce, or a lean cusine with 750 mg sodium, or 2 cups of chicken Soup loaded with sodium. Your scale does not know you've exercised rigorously for the last 2 weeks adding muscle to replace lost fat. You can lose 3 lbs of fat in one week but the scale may not indicate any loss of fat at all if you are retaining fluids. It's so easy for our bodies to retain 3-5 lbs of water/fluids if the environment presents itself. Eat a lot of sodium, TOM, medications or illness make our bodies retain fluids. That's weight and lots of it. You can expect wild 1-5 lb fluctuations every day or week. No one is immune. jmo

    Newbie!

No one in my circles know anything about the different WLS methods but if someone was aware and asked me, I think I would say that I've thought a lot about my choices and I'm leaving the vertical sleeve choice as my ace in the hole. If the band fails me, I still have the option of the sleeve where if I would have went with the sleeve or bypass, I would have no other choices. With the band, I can eat the same foods I ate before WLS, only now I won't eat as much. tmf

    I need some advice...

    Ugh Plateau...

Losing weight is a simple matter of burning more calories than you consume. You will slow this process if you don't eat enough calories though. Your body will go into a starvation mode and slow your metabolism down. I see most of the successful female losers on this forum try to stick to around 1000 calories a day. If you can exercise and burn 300 more calories a day you should lose 4-8 lbs a month. So, track your calories, track your calories burned, track how many calories your body needs a day just to maintain and then do the math. tmf

    First stick. Help

Please fill in your profile so we know more about you? Time will be your friend or enemy? Takes me about 45 minutes to pass food when I take too big of a bite, don't chew properly, eat too fast.
  12. Here's a great video that confirms why our weight loss slows down around month 2.

    Help! Weird Symptoms (slip?)

Watch any sports event and the first thing they do is ice a sprained ankle, tendonitis etc. Sometimes, it's good to use ice and hot but that's on joints. The stomach might be different but cold has always been a way to avoid inflammation.
  14. All cream soups are good. If you like chinese soups, I recommend egg drop soup. Very tasty and full of protein. There's some soup mixes in the asian food isle.

    Need advice...potential problems

Take it easy over the weekend. liquids, Soups, real soft stuff. If you have swelling try not to drink hot liquids as hot will only make swelling worse. Try sipping ice Water or icy drinks. tmf

Don't Know What Is Going On

You left out a lot of information? Do you exercise? How much and what kind? Do you count calories and how many a day do you consume? What is a typical day of meals for you? Are you eating slider foods? Do you feel any restriction? Do you feel any satiety after a small meal? This lapband thing is a simple math equation. Burn more calories than you consume and you should lose weight. More than 20 lbs though?

    Help! Weird Symptoms (slip?)

One more thing. Heated liquids can make any swelling worse. Try to chew on ice or sip ice water or liquids more than coffee or tea?

    Need advice please

If you have some inflammation from a stuck episode, heat will only make it worse. Sip on ice Water or even chew on some ice. But I would go back to liquids and Soups over the weekend till you can go to the doctor. Avoid solids like chicken or beef. Chicken noodle Soup, tomato soup, Protein shakes till you can see your doctor. I'm no health professional but this is what I would do in your situation. tmf

    Help! Weird Symptoms (slip?)

    Workout at Work!

    Love it. Great animations!
  24. First, please don't underline your text. It's annoying to read. 30 lbs is more than most in just 2 months. Until you get enough fills to give you adequate restriction the band wont work it's magic. It can take up to 6 fills before it really starts to work. What you are experiencing happened to most all of us. No reason to fear since you're doing better than most. "Until there's restriction...It's just another diet"---B-52
