Everyone can feel their port. And please try to avoid dry heaving or full blown vomiting with the band early on and even later on. It's one of the major reasons bands slip. But since there was nothing in your stomach and your doctor isn't worried you must be fine.

Much more confident and excited about my decision to have WLS!

Yeah, we have to eat a lot of Protein like fish, chicken and beef. They stimulate the vagus nerve to give us the satiety we need. Other solid foods stimulate the vagus nerve too, like broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and other solid veggies. But, they, the docs want a lot of protein consumed so we're not losing muscle with the lbs we lose.

Throwing up is one of the main reasons bands slip and pouches dilate. You should call your doctor asap. Why are you throwing up?
-
What are you eating that made them delay your fill?
-
Yes it is if you've put too much pressure on your pouch, stoma or esophagus. Some minor swelling can be a little uncomfortable. Most of us just go on a 24-48 hour partial liquid diet. Maybe a few shakes to replace a meal or two? Or, healthy slider foods for a day or two? Something like a lentil Soup or some other soup or food that requires little chewing so that your bruised area has a chance to heal. Just stay away from chunks of chicken, beef or pork till you feel better? tmf

I posted this earlier today on another thread and it kindof fits here: "Last week I went to Boise to see my Grandkids. Great time and great kids but I ate like I just got off Survivor Island. Over 2 1/2 days I ate: 2 bags of chips and dip Appetizer and a plate of Pad Thai at Thai restaurant 3-4 country donuts see video! Ham sandwich and more chips 2 bowls of Cereal large bowl of frozen yogurt(various flavors) 3 pancakes smothered in syrup, two eggs, pile of hashbrowns and 4 sausages Red Robin fish and chips, 4 deep fried onion rings and a large pumpkin pie milkshake 2 helpings of lasagna 12 small snicker(Halloween size) bites I had gained 9 lbs by time I got home Monday. Every day since, I've lost weight(not fat) and I"m back down that 9 lbs. It was all Water retention. Processed foods will do it every time. Slime is just saliva/phlegm your esophagus produces to aid stuck food to pass through. If you're sliming, you still have food stuck either in your stoma or esophagus. The slime won't go away till you can drink some Water but drinking water when you're still stuck can be very painful. My sliming/stuck episodes only last about 45 minutes. If yours continues and you can't drink, you may have caused some esophageal dilation which has caused some swelling which makes it difficult to swallow anything? tmf

Filled last week -- no weight loss this week!
2muchfun replied to ChelleChi1969's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Perfectly normal. You won't lose 3 lbs every week, in fact, you'll be lucky to lose 1-2 lbs per week. Two glasses of Water equal 1 lb so don't make the mistake that every day is a day to lose fat. It could be a day/week you retained water due to TOM, sickness, meds, sodium, stress or you may have consumed a lot of processed foods high in processed carbs. Here's an article that explains the 2-3 week plateau. And again, you won't lose weight(fat/adipose) every day, week or even every month. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UqP7uBLn-Uk -
The PA was right to have you drink your Water that way. Almost anyone can sip water even if they're too tight. It sounds like you're judging the efficacy of your band by restriction and not satiety. IMO, that's not how this is supposed to work. I can eat anything too but I watch for the satiety signals. Waiting to see if I get stuck or throw up is not how this is supposed to work. I've seen far too many people post here who have lived their band lives as you do, and now their bands have slipped, pouches dilated or have their bands removed or revised to sleeve. jmo tmf

Why can't you eat chicken? If you take small bites and chew to an applesauce consistency it should be OK with your band. But, there are many recipes for chili using ground turkey or ground chicken. I also like to use chicken tenderloins and don't overcook them or they get dry. Chili made with turkey or chicken is so good. So many things you can add to it. Green chili's, southwest frozen mix with black Beans, numerous vegetables and even ground pork works. I also buy shredded rotisserie chicken from costco. There's a lot of it so it's a good idea to break it down into 2-4 bags and just pull them out of the freezer as you need them. They make great enchiladas that will keep for up to one week. Or, chicken salad, good for 5 days. Or, chicken alfredo over spaghetti squash.

My, that was quick wasn't it? Congrats and look forward to hearing your journey.

Learning How to Eat Slowly After Weight Loss Surgery
2muchfun replied to BaileyBariatrics's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Eating small, chewing to applesauce consistency is vital if you're banded. Not following these rules can cause major complications. We see many failures and band slips from forum members who can't cope with this rule. -
3 weeks in and still battling "wanting" not "needing". HELP!
2muchfun replied to thesooz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think the silver lining here is, once your band is tweaked so your hunger is assuaged for longer periods of time and, you start losing weight consistently, the mourning dissipates along with much of the head hunger. For most of us that is. tmf -
Hope your surgery went well. I can relate to the therapist click. I had to go to one to get surgery and she was a nut case herself. Tried to sign me up for 6 months of therapy and exercise instructions. Said she could help me lose my weight with her therapy and exercise routines. DUH! Been there, done that.

Post op, pre first fill, SUPER hungry!?
2muchfun replied to malps0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in BH for 4 months before my 3rd fill gave me enough satiety to not feel like I was hungry all the time. I managed to not gain any weight by eating healthy foods but not the 1 cup they recommend. I ate twice that but healthy foods are not as fattening as pizza, tacos and cheeseburgers. tmf -
Insurance Approvals / Technicalities for Low BMI Bandsters?
2muchfun replied to gin765's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't be vain about your height if they're relying on your own height testimony? For instance, my daughter is 4' 11.5". She says she's 5 ft tall but she's not. If your rounding up, don't. Round down. 1 inch can make a big difference with your BMI. -
Perfectly normal body response. A hard workout will usually result in one hour of anorexia. Your body has depleted all the glucose in your muscle cells and now your body turns to burning fat and muscle. This is when you really need Protein, and whey protein absorbs much faster than meat and seafood. So, it's always a good idea to consume a high protein(24 gms) shake like muscle milk, elite, premier etc. This should satiate you for up to 2 hours. tmf
