Hi, I was wondering if there is a mushy thread somewhere. I couldn't find one in the nutrition area. I want some variety and I know many of you have great ideas. Can someone give me some recipes or point me to the place to find the mushy ones?

what is the ricotta bake? Thanks SIL, the signature came from a friend of mine. She designs them using photoshop. She's really good. I need to learn photoshop soon. I appreciate the ideas. I just want to find something that will keep me full. I teach and have limited break time so lunch is at noon, and then I get out past 3pm. I start school at 7:50, and that is a long time. I just want to plan well in advance. -
Why were YOU overweight?
illinoishusker replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a carbaholic and have pcos. But it started in college when I moved away from my mother who is controlling and a freak about food. She taught me to hide what I'm eating or she would judge me from age 8 on. when I went to college I met pizza, beer, and frat parties. I enjoyed it immensely. I gained 50 lbs in 4 years. ugh. I lost 10 gain 15, etc. repeat, relather... I believe I've always rebelled and ate what I wanted b/c of my mother's behavior. But I'm an adult and I'm responsible now. Losing weight got to hard and I've been raising small children. I gave up. Now I'm ready, and I'm now 3 days post op. I pray this works for me. -
Having Relations
illinoishusker replied to hottie66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, as a mom of two toddlers, just had surgery...etc. I'm ok to avoid it. Plus just b/c someone wants to avoid doesn't mean they are just fine, unless of course you are judging them. As a parent of young children, some days my sleep is way more important than sex. oooh I must be headed to a bad place. blah! I like the idea that you have sex when you feel healed and want to. -
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
illinoishusker replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay, I'm glad you are doing well!! 2nd day post op. I've had water, a little broth, and some protein water. I'm off pain pills, but just at night I do take one. I'm going to have egg drop soup tonight, and I'm so excited. I took my bandages off and just have bandaids over them. I read the follow up instructions from the hospital. I hope that is what the dr. wanted. -
Got banded yesterday! question
illinoishusker posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm moving along pretty well. I will say I'm stiff and sore. They have this clear bandage on them, and I can see the blood from yesterday. They haven't gotten worse, but looks icky. They say I can take a shower tomorrow, and take off my bandages. Should I put other bandages on? Any input? -
10-24 was my surgery. I went in at 5:30 a.m. and surgery at 7:30. I was stressing b/c I went to the bathroom before I went in. Yep, I go in and they wanted me to do a freaking pg test. aaaaaaaaaagh, I'm 40 and my dh has a vasectomy. So I had to wait for the IV drip to add to my Fluid, and finally went and of course it was negative. lol I tell you, the blood thinner shot in my stomach stung more than anything. ugh. I was out, and ready to go home by 1pm. I was fuzzy all day and sore. Drank my Water sip by sip. I'm able to walk around a lot more today, and am feeling pretty good. Now I'm just hoping I feel some restriction. lol

2 more days! I'm starting to get nervous, antsy and irritable. I'm down about 11lbs from the beginning of liquid diet. I think it would be more ,but I was allowed protein and veggie for dinner. I may have splurged a couple of times also. I am sending good thoughts for all!! -

Outpatient surgery on Friday, what should I take

Thank you ladies! I'm about 45 min. away, and my dh will be bringing me home. -
I'm so depressed, I think this was the worst mistake ever.
illinoishusker replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok I skimmed a lot. First off if you are being real with yourself and honest about what you eat, I can see why you are totally frustrated. I do know it takes time for restriction, so you will hopefully get it soon. Maybe talk to a nutritionist about switching up what you are eating. Also, have you ever checked to see if you have pcos. www.soulcysters.com is all about pcos and such. It can really hurt with losing weight too. -
Had to have my "infected" band removed two weeks after surgery

Hi - New with Question
illinoishusker replied to gracie78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It always depends on the dr. office. I just have to do a liquid diet, not clear. -
Cigna denied my surgery....
illinoishusker replied to sfwaitinginma's topic in Insurance & Financing
Ok,I find this frustrating. I'm sure you went in there and told them you are doing the diet for the lap band and they didn't write good notes? BS! ugh. I was a pain in my dr. arse. I kept saying, um make sure you document everything discussed, like exercise, nutrition, portion size..etc. I hope they'll do it. -
and I'm so cranky. food is all I think about, and I'm so hungry. I know this will get better, but I think I may need to call the waaaahmbulance. My poor kiddos, I'm such a crab. just wondering if any other smashing pumpkins are joining in my pain and general gripeiness.

Lost control!!! :(
illinoishusker replied to midwestchickie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so worry about this too! I'm still preop for a couple of weeks and that bandster Hell could kill me. All you can do really is move forward. If you put more guilt or resentment for it, then a cycle will start. Don't make it a vicious one. hugs. Hey, Ex Nebraska girl here and living in central IL now. go midwest girlies! -
I don't know for sure. I know they did say that it had to be for 5 years for me. What does your surgeon's office say?

Pre-Op eating behaviors vs. Post-Op eating behaviors
illinoishusker replied to Lauren448's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a huge concern for me! I, too, am a carbaholic. For me it's breads, bagels, chips, brownies..etc. I swear I'm making myself crazy. i start the liquid diet on Saturday and I"m being horrible now. -
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
illinoishusker replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I swear I blink and this thread gets bigger. lol I start my liquid diet on saturday and I'm ok with it. I've done a short stint of a month on liquid, so I know I can do it for a little bit. I'm starting to get nervous, not scared, just uneasy. I have to go get an EKG, chest xray and bloodwork for preop b/c of my age. I just turned 40. I love hearing that so many of you are doing well after surgery and that calms me down. Wishing us all luck. I know it'll be hard, but I love the quote. "There are no triumphs without struggle" So those triumphs will mean so much to us b/c we fought for them!
