I just had my first fill on Monday. I didn't get numbing at all. bummer. It stung a little, but I assume to put the numbing, it's using a needle too? It didn't hurt too bad, but man did they push around to get it jabbed in the middle of the port. I felt a bit sore there later. I only got 2.5cc's, and i go back dec. 22nd. I'm not feeling anymore restriction? are you? I've been on liquids for two days.

Fertility? Or not fertility?
illinoishusker replied to Princess4174's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a PCOS'r too, although I was able to conceive prior to the band with the help of a great Reproductive Endocrinologist. Have you all been going to one? I'm assuming you have. I would assume with weight loss it might move some hormones around and hopefully eggs will be flying. Can I ask what your FSH level is? Did they test your LH levels too? I would never take the word of a general practitioner for fertility or an OB/gyn. Go above to a specialist. I was on Clomid, and ready for an IUI when the combo of metformin and Clomid worked for me. Sending you loads of baby vibes. Oh and I was over 250 when I conceived, so I know it's way possible for you! Good luck! -
Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?
illinoishusker replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok tomorrow is my first fill! eeek. I'm excited but nervous about needles. I'm sure the apprehension makes it worse. You know I was kind of disappointed in the lack of time that Dr. R spends with his patients. I saw in the surgery room for one minute before I was under and then I was sent home without seeing him. I'm totally fine, but that is the last time I saw him? Isn't that weird? hmmm I thought so. -
Help! What can I buy My Doctor for Christmas?
illinoishusker replied to anonymous_frnw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would say a sincere thank you card is sufficient. You could bring muffins and a fruit tray to his office. -
how to protect incisions from my child?
illinoishusker replied to 2b-banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a physical 3 yr. old too. lol I told her I had tummy surgery and have boo boos, so no jumping on mommy. I can hug or lean into it, but no jumping. She got it. I was healed pretty good at 3 weeks and I told her I could have a good hug. She says, "Mommy, can I jump on you now!" lmao I alway turn to the left, so she's really coming into my right side more. Ornery kiddos. -
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
illinoishusker replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 10/24 and am healed I think. I'm on soft foods and I can eat anything if I choose to. I hate that. I'm holding to 21lbs down, but have not moved it in over a week and a half. My first fill is dec. 1st and I really want it to make some difference. A very proud moment for me is that I've been off of Coke Zero and caffeine for 23 days. This is huge for me. I miss it a lot. I need to exercise more. It has gotten cold and I don't want to walk outside. Plus I want to join this gym, but I've always failed that and don't want to waste money at this time of the year. sigh. On my port site, where the scar is, I feel like it's thicker there. Doesn't really hurt, just feels bulky. hmm? -

What's everyone eating on Thanksgiving?
illinoishusker replied to Catherine55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded on 10/24 and no restriction. First fill on Dec. 1st. Turkey for sure a 1/3 cup of mashed potatoes 1/3 cup of stuffing veggie one roll, not a butter fan, so all good there. I'm sure later I'll have one piece of SF chocolate pudding pie. -
Soft Moist Food Ideas
illinoishusker replied to rennaisance_woman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 3rd week out and I am on soft foods. I'm doing chicken with a lot of marinade so it's juicy. I'm doing Tilapia. Yogurt, oatmeal, sf pudding, I had pork loin with bbq sauce, I am still doing Protein shakes. Tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad. I'm worried though, b/c I'm hungry now. ugh. I need more ideas. -

illinoishusker replied to Sunny Skies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This seems just like an ad. I don't believe it's real. -
Good luck to you. They didn't deny me, so maybe you'll get lucky too.

Hi ladies, I wanted to pop in and say I got my band on 10/24 and am filling good. Although no restriction, but I think I'm eating less. I'm starting to walk around. -
Did your dr. talk to you about doing liquids after a fill? I'd start now for sure, make sure you are taking it easy.

I lost 100 lbs.

Restriction following surgery???
illinoishusker replied to Neugene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think I healed very fast and didn't feel much restriction at all. I am trying hard to pay attention to fullness, but it's hard for sure, just like dieting. lol darn it. -
Ok, I've never been a huge Water consumer, but I'm way bigger now. I have a water bottle by me all the time. My mouth is dry all the time! Is this normal? I'm not dehydrated, I use the bathroom a lot, and I'm drinking a lot. I'm newly banded (10 days out) and this is a huge surprise to me.

Those banded 10/22/08 KEEP ME POSTED
illinoishusker replied to mcornejo1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't get how we can stretch something? We don't have any kind of stoma/pouch b/c we don't have any fill. I thi nk you are to go easy on your stomach so it can heal and you dont cause the band to move around or slip? Is this not correct? -
Where shall I begin?

NO will power came with band
illinoishusker replied to partyrx2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think therapy is great. You are right will power doesn't come with it. You need to look inside and really think before you choose. I wish it were easier too, cause I get hungry, but you can do it! Dig deep!! -
Puzzled by my band!
illinoishusker replied to Iatetheskinnyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd call for sure. You'll want to continue with the met in my opinion until you lose enough to keep that pcos away, hopefully. good luck! -
Those banded 10/22/08 KEEP ME POSTED
illinoishusker replied to mcornejo1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Michelle, I'd keep up with the miralax, but you may want to call the dr. and ask what they suggest. I think it's important for you have a bm. I also have no problem drinking anything, so I think that is good. -
Level with me re: surgical bandage removal
illinoishusker replied to tomatogirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had clear bandages like you are talking about. Mine came off no problem and less painful than a bandaid. They looked gross, but that was just dried blood. I just pressed down on the skin and removed gently, not a big deal at all. good luck! -
Those banded 10/22/08 KEEP ME POSTED
illinoishusker replied to mcornejo1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI all, banded the 24th too. I'm down 20lbs presurgery and post op total. I think I'm healing quite easily. I had my follow up dr. appt and they were pleased ,so I am. I am able to sleep on either side with pillows wedged under me. I found a heating pad really helps too. I also feel more pain at night, mainly b/c I think I'm pushing harder during the day. I'm on mushies, and it's going super easy. Almost too easy. I feel real hunger and this disappoints me. I get full fast, but grrr. -
6 days post surgey - and a new problem - please help!
illinoishusker replied to Kritzz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 10/24 and I'm good, but my port size is tender and kind of bumpy? like maybe swollen in different areas around it. -
ok, I've done a search and I can't find a thread regarding ideas for the mushie stage. I'll be there in about 5 days, so I was wondering about unique things I could eat besides creamy soups and yogurt. Help please.
