A question for you all
illinoishusker replied to fatgirlinNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get this pain. I think it means I probably overfilled my little stoma and I'm suffering a bit till it goes through. I think it's normal, well at least I hope it is. -

Hey Amber, That is where I had my surgery and it went really well. It's an older hospital and that surprised me, but it went well and fast. Don't use the bathroom when you get there, cause they will need to do a urinalysis thing, I learned that lesson the hard way. It's also outpatient, so be prepared for being surrounded by other people afterwards. Feel free to ask me any questions if you have any! Good luck! -

I was a Coke Zero Addict pre-band. Now I do not drink it. I gave it all up on Oct. 24th and haven't gone back. Now I feel like it's a mission, I can't believe I kicked the caffeine and pop, so i hate to give in. My dr. says I can have it, but really I get enough gas without it, I can't imagine with it. I cannot drink anything with food, it gets stuck, ugh. -
Hey Janis, thank you My good friend made it for me. She uses photoshop. If I learn to make them, I'll make one for you, ok? Might take this summer though.

I have a question about the muscle milk. It says 195 calories with 50 coming from fat and 25g of Protein. Is that decent? I just use a Protein shake in the morning and am running out mine and would like to try something new.
-
Popcorn is no problem for me either.

My dr. only does a 10CC band. He says it's easier to fill the band exactly where you need it to be.

I'm kind of in the same place as you ladies. I think times of the month can change tightness too. I'm tighter in the a.m. and looser in the evenings. It's so hard to get used to not eating what you want. It's totally what we want, but amazing how you think about food. I feel some discomfort with Protein shakes going down in the a.m., but it does loosen up. Talk to your dr. hugs

I know it's been done, but it's still new to me. I am at 5.5ccs and I'm finally feeling some restriction, but I'm hungry in the a.m. and am struggling there. After reading many of you, you are eating way smaller amounts of food than I am and you must be feeling satiety. Is it normal to eat ... Protein shake 1/2 cup of cottage cheese/fruit for lunch then 3 oz of meat Cause I can eat a lot more, and I'm not losing weight fast, so I'm thinking I need a fill. I'm way hungrier at the end of the day too. I guess I'm babbling, but I'm trying to gauge what it feels to hit a sweet spot. I don't want to eat more ,but I'm HUNGRY, so I eat more than many of you. I just want to know what is a pretty decent normal bandsters menu if they want to lose weight.

Questioning food amounts and fills
illinoishusker replied to illinoishusker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
See I'm babbling, I knew it. I was looking at other people's menus and they resemble that on many of these threads. I'm not losing weight fast at all. like 1lb every two weeks if I'm lucky. I've just had my 3rd fill and for the first time feel some restriction. I guess, I'm thinking I should feel more. -

overeating episode and still paying for it?
illinoishusker posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok, I'm on fill #2 and no restriction. Went to a party and they had flat Iron steak. I ate too much. I knew it once I finished. Ugh. lesson learned. I was miserable all night, full, gassy just awful. Never threw up. The next day I ate nothing but Protein shakes and Water. HOrribly gassy and icky feeling all day yesterday, woke up and felt better today but still horribly gassy and kind of icky feel. Ate a pretty bland diet today, and still just felt off. Has this happened to anyone? Is this abnormal? -
I am this shallow?
illinoishusker replied to Maranda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it's shallow. I think it's normal to want your support system and your family to be excited for you and to give positive reinforcement. That just sucks and I'd be pretty disappointed too. Just know that you are doing a great thing for yourself and you will be the winner in the end! -
Ok for Christmas, Dh and I got a gym membership. Good part, we know the owner (friend of dh's). Bad part: My self confidence and fears that I have about going to gym is getting bigger and bigger. I'm a big girl and I'm so nervous to go there. I just want to get used to going and doing aerobic activity. What should I do? How do you overcome your fears? HOw did you start out? I wish I could make the fear go away!

Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?
illinoishusker replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Went for my 2nd fill and up to 4 ccs without restriction. I think this is the worst part, right around the holidays and all the temptations. I go back in Jan. 15th. for another fill and pray it will cause restriction. -
$82, 000 LapBand Bill
illinoishusker replied to TQUAD64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I would have fainted on the spot. It's amazing how much they charge. -
Thank you all! This is such a stupid fear I know. I was extremely athletic half my life until age 28. I know how to work out, I think I'm surprised at how much I can't do and I get disappointed. It'll take time, and I will do it. I just hate the thought of starting, kind of like getting a shot. lol

Not sure what to do now???? Help please.
illinoishusker replied to ~Mauriah~'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the above. I moved onto sf pudding, cottage cheese, soups, chicken salad, tuna salad. -
I just had my 2nd fill 2 days ago. Now I have 4ccs in my 10cc band. I'm not feeling much restriction if any at all. Although, I'm really proud I handled myself well. I am a bit of a needle weenie. The first one:It was no more than a bee sting and some moving the port around to get in the middle. This one: bee sting, found it, added and over. Try not to be too nervous, b/c I'm a big needle freak and I handled it.

Mine was bulky too, but it was just swollen. I can't see it now and it doesn't hurt. I slept on my side about 9 days out.
-
This is a concern for me too. I'm 2mths out and only down about 22.5lbs. I just had my 2nd fill today and I'm at 4ccs and not feeling much restriction. I go back jan. 15th for another one. sigh.

I have a date and am ready to go! I'm excited and nervous. I can't wait to join the gang!

Another one for people banded around 10/22/08
illinoishusker replied to Catherine55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Luckily I didn't have shoulder pain, and I've had one fill this last week of 2.5ccs.
