Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?
illinoishusker replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used Dr. R last October. Their office is great. They do most of the hard stuff. They will show you exactly what you have to have done. They will also give you hints on how to make the process quicker if they know your insurance. Lovely people who really made it easy for me. Good luck! Are you going to a Reproductive Endocrinologist too? Cause weight alone won't stop you from getting pg. I dealt with pcos and such and went through infertility. Think about going to an RE who specialize in this stuff. -
The hiccup is the first clue that I'm done eating and may have eaten too much. I'm a year out and I still do it.

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
illinoishusker replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's good to see the new bandsters!! I was there a year ago! Things change so much over a year. It has come off slowly for me and really I didn't lose much until I felt restriction. I'm now down 52lbs and I feel so awesome and I have tons more to lose! I'm so glad I did it. It's like a giant rubberband that snaps me on the stomach when I want to splurge too much. -
Friendship Lost over the Band
illinoishusker replied to leftover_eidoes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly, I think she's a sucky friend. We are grown ups? Who yells at you for a personal decision? Ridiculous. Congrats to anyone who loses weight, woohoo. But come on, do what you want to do? Also, seems awfully similar to the natural birthing to getting an epidural. Lots of arguments there, for whatever reasons. YOU do what works for YOU and what you want to DO! I've had nothing but support and I suggest you surround yourself with people who are supportive! -
What do you eat when . . .

This is me exactly! -
Ok, I'm 10 mths post op. I"m down about 48lbs. It's ok  Question: I can eat popcorn easily, is this bad for me and the band? Secondly: Could popcorn be causing me extreme gas issues and pain in back?
-
My dr. would only do like 2.5ccs in the first fill. I didn't feel any restriction really. I'm at about 5.75 now. I am pretty close to my sweet spot. It takes time, but don't rush it and don't freak yourself out. It's hard when you can don't feel any restriction (bandster hell). It will come and then you'll be happier!

Ok, waiting for dr. to call me back. My back is still aching, but really it feels like aching now and I had a little sciatic pain today. I think my back is not used to this new weight. I'm down about 50lbs.

Are they insensitive or am I over-sensitive?
illinoishusker replied to MissK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, but I've never figured out family. My mother brought a container of chocolate chip Cookies to my house after the surgery. ??? WTH?? I try not to understand people anymore. {hugs} -
I don't remember when, but I do know I stay away from carbonation. So no more beer, but I now love Malibu, OJ, pineapple and grenadine. Also a nice Riesling (light white wine) is nice too.

Any body ever suffered from back pain?
illinoishusker replied to playhead's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My back has been hurting lately too and tonight my port area is sore. I wonder if I am eating too much too. -
7.5 pounds away from ONEDERLAND!
illinoishusker replied to keepingfaith08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is awesome!! I'm jealous, I have way more, but I'll get there too. You should be proud of yourself! -
What does "stuck", "restriction", & "satiety" feel like?
illinoishusker replied to ahb08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
to me PBing is just regurgetating(sp) of the food. Meaning if you vomit, you really work hard to make it come up. FOr me PBing, can be quick. I think of the food sitting in the stoma and not in the stomach yet. If I pb then it just comes back up the way it went down. -
9 months in and now gas pains?? is that it?
illinoishusker posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok, I eat fine, and then 2 hours or so later, I get what I think is gas pain. It is around my port, a little lower and around my back. It kind of feels like cramps and then I burp a lot and finally it goes away. Kind of a dull pain and uncomfortable. I'm assuming it's gas. Is this normal?? I finally have good restriction and I wonder if I'm just eating too much food? -

illinoishusker replied to illinoishusker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It seems to happen regardless of what I eat lately. It's only been for 2 weeks. I kind of thought it was a female issue, but it's not. Could it be that I ate too much and then gas X100 was created? Can popcorn cause gas? -
Belching everytime you eat or drink?
illinoishusker replied to Still Struggling's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I burp a lot! Mainly because I get lots of gas, so I do a lot of burping! -
I do wake up a smidge hungry, but not like starving. Plus I'm tight in the morning and can't do more than a protein shake or water/milk. So really not until 10ish do I need food.

I think in general it is sad b/c he was Iconic and reminds me of my youth. I think he was seriously troubled and a bit off. I'm not sure he was a molester, but it didn't look good for him. I think Farrah was iconic also, but she was controversial with her swimsuit poster and nipple showing through. I also think it's sad when anyone dies, but I don't believe anyone can take away the fact he was an Icon.

I usually have Dr. R give me the fills b/c he's awesome. The PA is really nice to me and supportive, but she stuck me wrong one time and I'm a bit of a shot weenie. So if Dr. R is there, I have him do it. Plus a bit of me is saying hmmm I pay $70 a fill so he can do it! lol I'm just about at my sweet spot, if not there right now. So I won't go back for at least 2 months. I get my fills standing up? What do you do? I believe the reason I haven't lost faster is b/c of me. I'm struggling right now with what to eat for lunch and such? I'm getting bored, so I tend to not be good all the time. Bad Lori! Did you know he partnered with Dr. Baker (plastic surgeon) and are opening an office in Champaign. I think it's cool. Cause if I ever lose enough to need plastic surgery I'd go to Dr. Baker.

I love this dip and I love that it's lower in calories and fat.

I do almonds mostly. I have to eat them slowly. I can do peanuts and cashews just fine.

Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?
illinoishusker replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good LUck Erica and Jennie. Dr. R did mine at Provena and it went smoothly! I really wish I could find a lap band support group near to Decatur, Mt. Zion, or such. I just need ideas on how to stay focused. Things are going well and I know for me, I wasn't losing more than 30lbs at a time, so I'm now down 43lbs and it's been such a blessing. I need the physical reminder! I compare it to a large rubber band snapping me. It took awhile, but once you get restriction, it just makes living easier (for me). -
It's been awhile since I have come to this thread. aaagh. Well I'm down 43lbs and doing alright, not great. I just got another fill and I'm back to feeling more tight. YIPEE. I find that life gets in the way of eating slowly, sigh. I also find that my head hunger is crazy and I really struggle with not being able to have as much food as my eyeball says I want to have. I'm learning a lot with this band and I'm so happy I got it.
