I woke up yesterday and my port area and scar are kind of prickly painful. It feels like it did when it was healing and scabby. It doesn't really hurt inside. I haven't thrown up in ages. I'm probably ready for a fill, but I have put it aside. What could cause this? I start getting myself all in a bunch, b/c I haven't had issues in a longgggg time. Oh no redness around it either. I feel my port, but it feels like a lump, I can never tell if it's flat or not. It feels normal.

So what's for dinner??
illinoishusker replied to missgypsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so taking these crockpot ideas. We had tacos. -
People are very weird. It's like they aren't happy if you aren't suffering with them. lol I think you have the right to be hurt and concerned about the friendship. I think I would plan a night and ask can they come. If not, maybe then talk to each one and voice your concerns. I know it's not fun to make waves, but not knowing and just hoping it'll work isn't always the answer. Family stuff can get in the way, but they didn't invite you to a party? I'd be ticked. I think I'd tell them that you miss them and are worried that something happened b/c we just aren't doing things anymore. Maybe they are jealous and not liking the new you? Are you talking about the lapband all the time? I think being honest is hard like ripping a bandaid off, but asking them will get you an answer. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Prickly port and scar pain 2 yrs out.
illinoishusker replied to illinoishusker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok, I'm trying not to freak or anything lol. It's just really sensitive, like if I lightly run my hand over it, it's a bit painful, like a fresh scab. No extra workout, it's not an inside pain, it is clearly an outside feel. I've been too dang gassy lately.hmmm Thank you all for responding. -
Healthy foods that go down a tight band?
illinoishusker replied to amlus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yogurts, crackers with tuna salad or chicken salad. Chili is good and so is taco meat with beans and cheese. -
My doc said I could chew gum. I don't because it causes gas in my stomach.

Women, were you told you'd become more fertile?
illinoishusker replied to Kristy29's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think the only way you become more fertile is the weight loss which would regulate your estrogen and hormone levels. If you happen to have other issues causing infertility then it wouldn't affect it so much. I think it's smart to wait to get pg so that you can lose as much weight as you can. Any weight loss could possibly make you more fertile. -
Phrenic nerve pain to left shoulder blade
illinoishusker replied to MargenOhio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I get that kind of pain around my back on the left side. If I've waited too long to eat or if I over eat. I get gas pains or some kind of pains right there. I have to gasx myself to death. lol -
I'd be ticked too. 1st off, stand up for yourself. If asked, I'd say, "I didn't tell you, b/c you treat me like @$@#$ and make me feel like @$@$#@" "so why would I expect any support from you?" Then I'd lay down the rules. I'd tell them that you will not allow any disrespect and/or persecution. YOu will not put up with it. Don't let anyone treat you like crap. YOu don't deserve it.

Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?
illinoishusker replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm still here! I'm from Mt. Zion, near Decatur. I'm down 75lbs and kind of stuck here for awhile, but I don't think I've been working as hard as I need too. So really it's my fault. It's been slow, but I've never felt better in my life! -
I did not have any co morbids really except for the obesity factor. I didn't have to jump through anymore hoops but the 6mth diet. Check with your dr. and the office staff to see if they know your insurance.

Free online devotion for dieters
illinoishusker replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Awesome, just what I needed! -
Ok, I've checked gall bladder stuff, and it says all the pains are on the right side. I'm having pain (aching pain) on the left side behind my port in my back. I have had lots of gas and no food change. I haven't had a fill for over 5 weeks, and this just started 2 weeks ago. Someone mentioned, weight re-distribution. Could that be it? I have scoliosis (wore a back brace when i was in 8th-11th grade). My back was used to my old weight and now it's getting used to lighter me? I wonder if I am not holding my posture correct. Ugh, I'm sorry, it's just really bothering me and I want an answer. sigh.

The Card...Do you have one?
illinoishusker replied to Yvette1026's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. gave me the card, it is like a little library card. I have saved money when it comes to a nice breakfast buffets. I haven't tried many places. -
Ok, question, how do they work with wide widths? Do they come in wide or are they wide already? Do the shape ups fit normally. So if you are a 7.5 you should order a 7.5?

I am filled to roughly 6ccs. I've had the fill for 2 weeks. I'm waking up at night with severe reflux. I'm already sleeping on a slant and it's still waking me up coughing and with the nasty taste. So I'm planning on calling to get an unfill. HOw much do I ask for? When I got filled the Water went down just fine, but it's a night time issue. I'm not eating anything too spicy or saucey, and I eat around 5:30 and go to bed around 10. I am losing again and that makes me happy, but I cannot sleep and that stinks. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

10 CC pouch WHAT? Does my doc want me to shrivel away?
illinoishusker replied to AlienBandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10cc is the band not the pouch. IT holds the saline. The pouch above is the Stoma and it holds the food as it slowly passes through, which gives you a full feeling. You don't lose a stomach and the whole point is to eat less. -
Losing hope...what now?
illinoishusker replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that is hard. I'm sorry. I would go back and demand answers. Plus if the port has flipped I would want him to fix it FREE! He should have it anchored and if you haven't done anything to flip it, then he should fix it. I bet you are frustrated and upset. I hope it gets figured out. does he do it while you are standing up? My dr. can find my port super easy when I stand up and it falls away from the scar tissue. -
Exactly what I was worried about, the acid burning my esophagus. So hopefully at 9am it will be better. :blushing:

Ok, going in on Monday, soonest I could clear my schedule and it worked for them. Ok, so how do you check that? If I drank Water and was fine prior, hmmm.

Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?
illinoishusker replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok, SArah, you haven't give up hope because you are still trying! I do think losing weight could knock some sense into your ovaries, it can work for sure. My insurance made me prove that I was on a diet for 6 mths. So I had to go to my gp and weigh in each month..blah blah. I didn't have 6 mths in a row of Weight watchers and such. good luck! -
Champaign Illinois Anyone? Central area?
illinoishusker replied to simmons775's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I went to a gyno who said that and then I went to another one. There are RE's that work out of Carle Clinic in Champaign. Dr. Fay is the main gyno there but I think mine still comes in from Indy. It's been 7 yrs, but I'm pretty sure he still comes in. I weighed 265 lbs when i got pg. I had to take clomid and to take glucophage. I have a mild case of PCOS. I got pg both times. He never once said anything about my weight. Have you charted? Do you know if you ovulate? Have you tried ovulation kits? I used a fertility monitor both times I got pg and it worked along with my meds to tell me if I was ovulating. There are things you can do while you chase this journey. It is not hopeless. Oh and I was 34 and 37 when I got pg with my kidlets. Keep the faith!
