I first attended the Lap Band Seminar at Memorial Hospital the summer of 2008.  I knew I didn't want gastric bypass... I had a friend who'd went through gastric bypass and she died.   She was only in her 30s. :( 
Due to insurance and my own personal finances, it was necessary to wait until after the New Year rolled around before I could persue the procedure.  I met with Deborah Young, the fitness coordinator, and she is such a nice person!!  She showed us exercises we could easily do without straining ourselves, which I really appreciated!! :)   I had appointments with Jody every two weeks.  She monitored my weight and discussed with me my eating and drinking choices.  Jody is a great person, and she always reminded me that I was free to call anytime I had any questions, no matter how "silly" I thought they were.  For my psych eval, I went to go see a Dr Bernstein.  She was really really nice.  It went smoothly,  although it literally took me a full hour to answer the questionairre!!!  (literally)

At Dr Baptista's office.... sitting in the waiting area and talking to the other patients was always great.  After all, we were all in the same boat and it was great to hear of their experiences and hear their advice.  I learned a lot in that waiting room! :)   One thing was clear though... we all thought Dr. Baptista was the best!!  Not a single complaint!   None of us could say enough good about him. :)  
My surgery was July 24th.  Dr Baptista came to see me before and after the surgery.  He is awesome!! :)

Now it's the end of July and I am 4 days post op.  I am looking forward to my one week follow up appointment on Thursday. :)
