  1. I had dry heaves after coming home and was not meeting my hydration goal. Definitely let your medical team know. The nurse upped my nausea medication, and I am slowly getting to where I should be. I found warm liquids caused less cramping. Have you tried broth yet?
  2. Wishing you all the best! The first day was definitely the worse for me, the next day was so much better! Rooting for you!

Any Feb surgery peeps out there?

Had my sleeve on 2/8 and it went well. Very low energy, but aside from that doing well. I did have a lot of nausea and dry heaves the first day, the nurse told me to up frequency of nausea meds and no problem since.
  4. My sleeve was on the 8th as well!
  5. I've heard so much about head hunger on this site. So far, I'm just not interested in food at all. It's been hard to meet the calorie and protein goals. I am 5 days post-op, anyone into the pureed stage? When did you really start wanting food?
  6. Are you pre or post op? I am 5 days post op, and not hungry at all. Very low energy. Thankfully, my hubby has been cooking for the kids, or picking up food, to let me rest and recover.
  7. Two days post-op, feeling better today. The day of surgery and the following were really rough going. Struggle to get my water down. The nausea medicine has been a life saver. Tomorrow I start full liquids.
  8. Kept busy all morning. Checked in for pre-op and keeping my nerves under control. My tween gave me a stuffy and a card to remind me that I am strong and I've got this!
  9. Me too! Same feeling, the excitement and nerves. Last June, I was set for surgery, admitted and had my IV. At that time my husband was not able to be there, I had a panic attack and cancelled the surgery. I've had so much regret - this time we made sure he would be able to go with me. I think it really got into my mind that this is an elective surgery, I needed to recognize it's a necessary surgery.
  10. Can't believe just two days until my surgery!
  11. Anyone have the surgery yet? I'm so nervous about after surgery.
  12. Hi everyone! I'm scheduled for a gastric sleeve on February 8th. Excited and nervous at the same time.
  13. I am scheduled for February 8th. This is actually my 3rd date. The first go was cancelled because I tested positive for covid. The second, I was in the prep room with an IV, within minutes of surgery, and had a panic attack. The only reason I could think of was a very traumatic hospitalization after complications from colon cancer surgery. Over the past 6 months, I have had so much regret at having backed out of the surgery. I have spent a lot of time self-reflecting, and just hope that I can overcome the nervousness.

I'm in Southern California and have Kaiser. My surgery is in two days - the hospital is outpatient at this time. Just wondering if anyone can share how long you were at the hospital before being released (outpatient)?

I'm 43 and 5'6" with CW of 212. It took years to get to the point of accepting I need this surgery. With major calorie restriction and constant exercise, I can get to about 210. I always end up rebounding to between 240-250. I wish you good luck on your surgery!

Originally, I was scheduled for 4/20 and tested positive for covid two days before. I had to wait at least a month to be rescheduled. The positive was the realization of how disappointed I was, all the second guessing is gone this time around. I KNOW that I want this opportunity.

Went for my pre-op today, surgery date is June 7th. I'm so ready for this surgery - just nervous about the recovery time. My surgery is out-patient because of covid. Has anyone here been released the same day? How was your experience?

The nutritionist from my program made a great recommendation once you are able to drink coffee - use the vanilla or chocolate premier as a creamer.

My gastric sleeve is scheduled for June 7th! I'm ready for this chance to change and improve my health. I was originally scheduled for April, I tested positive for covid in the required screening. I felt so defeated finding out the day before surgery. The positive was that it affirmed my decision.

    April 2022 Surgery Buddies

Just received a call that my COVID test came back positive. My surgery is cancelled for at least a month. This is an emotional rollercoaster 😭 Last night, I just kept repeating to myself all the reasons that led me to seeking the sleeve. Sad and discouraged at having to wait, to keep having the "what ifs" cycle through my head.

I've read on the forum many revise to a bypass if they have hiatal hernia and acid reflux. This wouldn't be an option for me, I had colon cancer and need to have yearly colonoscopy. Makes me feel its higher stakes with the sleeve as I won't be able to revise.
