HELP!Antidepressants,do I have to stop pre-op?
noosagirl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My lap band doc told me to gradually stop taking Zoloft over text three weeks (I am taking 100mg), but I am anxious more than ever about my op in three weeks. I only just found out to stop taking and it was a shock as I have heard that other people took antidepressants pre-op. Please everyone give me lots of advice!:whatchutalkingabout -
If you don't have much time to exercise just do weight training. The more muscle you have the faster your metabolism.

Eat lots of vegies and a couple pieces of fruit day. I know in the States they have a real thing about protein but focus on fresh produce no prepackaged stuff.

Husband doesn't notice weight loss
noosagirl replied to Humming Bird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did not notice in a 5 year period that my husband put on about 45 pounds (20kgs) and lost it again. It wasn't till I was looking at photos that I realized, cause all I see is a man that I am very much attracted to. He unfortunately noticed when I put on weight though. -
How difficult that must have been for you. I can't eat eat rice or chicken anymore as it always gets stuck. When things get stuck I find pineapple juice the best thing, for some reason it brings the food back up.

Constipation....holy ^&*%*
noosagirl replied to tke100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every week I make a massive amount of vegetable soup. Add all different colour vegies, add low sodium chicken stock to taste and use a hand blender when cooked. I have 2 - 4 cups a day. That way you get extra vegies in, its a great snack and it keeps you regular. I also blend frozen fruits with yogurt, its just like soft serve ice cream. -
CLEANING your house thats physical just do it with more vigor!!! I personally love exercising, always have and always will. The only thing is I never think of walking, dancing, gardening as exercise, its just something I like to do. I do weight training as well but I think of that as exercise, but I get the best results from weight training, so I just do it and the more muscle you have the faster your metabolism. What i'm trying to say is find something that you find fun or things that just have to get done like cleaning and mowing and you might enjoy them more and put more effort in cause you know its great exercise.

WOW a year! So much has happened to me the last year. I separated from my husband because I just couldn't cope with his meanness any more and he stepped up and is really trying and making positive changes so we're back together again. I found out that I am still ADHD, I was diagnosed as a child but I just thought it was something you grow out of and it is a huge relief to know this as now I can take action. I was down to around 55kg but have been on holidays the last 2 weeks, so I think i've put on a bit, but it will come off again. The last year for me has been full of positive change and I know there is more to come. I have also booked myself a 2 month holiday next year to India because I deserve it. This lapband has been more like a lobotomy. HAPPY LAPBAND BIRTHDAY EVERYONE!!!!

A gastric band is one of the most dangerous and painful operations you can have.
noosagirl replied to elcee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thats just funny, but sad if people believe it. I have to say being over weight and having a bad back because of it was far more painful. -
Cruising with the band????
noosagirl replied to Jenfs5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You lucky thing, a cruise! Focus on the ships activities and at dinner time focus on getting to know everyone and having a good time. I went on a cruise pre-band and I know I would have a better time now because my focus would be on fun instead of food. -
Try juicing vegies and fruit and take suppliments if you can afford them. If your not eating your not getting any nutrients. Try meal replacement soups or shakes. I hope this helps.

noosagirl posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I keep reading that most people are told to not snack in between meals, but I was told 3 meals and three snacks. Is snacking an Aussie thing or just my docs advice for me. Can everyone please tell me what they were advised. -
a non-supportive spouse...
noosagirl replied to katwmn63's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep I was the same. I dropped hints for a few months and he thought I was just crazy and lazy with no self control. But I had made my mind up and I got banded last september. I only told few people about getting banded and those people few people are still the only ones that know i've been banded and those few people think that it is such an extreme thing to do. Getting banded is one of the best and smartest things that I have ever done and has made me very happy lady. -
Does your bra cause more restriction?
noosagirl replied to OneHotMama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It doesn't matter what bra I wear it always sits on my port. It is always more comfortable if I can undo my bra when I eat a meal. -
Does your bra cause more restriction?
noosagirl replied to OneHotMama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes I am the same. When I get food stuck the first thing I do is undo my bra and its a huge relief. Why is that anyway? My port sits right on my bra line. -
Is it cheating or eating like a normal person?
noosagirl replied to JENNIFER7375's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pretty much the only person amongst my family and friends that is, or I should now say, was over weight and I can tell you that all of them eat junk food from time to time, they don't deprive themselves. -
Your not a bad banster your just learning. If I were you I would see a dietian that can work with you organize a eating plan that is realistic and that you can stick to. Try planing what your going to eat the day before or plan a week ahead. My helpful hint is ALWAYS remember to get in 2 1/2 cups of vegies and 2 litres of Water no matter what.

Cravings for Sweets - What do you do?
noosagirl replied to irishgal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wait 20 minutes. Then if you still feel like something sweet have a small portion of tin fruit and yoghurt. But if its only once a week have what ever your craving for. -
Fun Poll: How do you like these baby names?
noosagirl replied to Anyalee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think when you see your baby and hold him in your arms the right name for him will just come to you. -
Its one of the best decisions in life that I have made. I went half way round the world all by myself to India, I only told a couple of people and no one was supportive. I had issues with my weight all my life, I wanted to be free. I used to eat and eat and eat and now I can't cause i'm banded. I find it fantastic being banded as I can only eat a small amount of food. Eating is no longer a hobby but going to the gym, zumba classes and walking are. I enjoy food now. I find a great sense of freedom having my band. PS Its not till you have the right amount of fill that your band really kicks in. I have 9ml in a 9ml band. Was banded 3rd Sept 2008 hit my sweet spot Early Jan this year.

Have you tried any of the meal replacement soups, there are a lot on the market like optifast chicken soup or optislim tomato soup.

Should I be mad at my husband for looking at dirty pictures?
noosagirl replied to Carrie_C's topic in The Gals' Room
Men need to step up, grow up and have a bit of respect for women. I am about to offend so many but hear it goes, WOMEN ARE FAR SUPERIOR TO MOST MEN. -
