After surgery...fill experiences
noosagirl replied to creed2474's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it doesn't tickle. You feel a bit of pressure, but it only took one or two minutes for me. I was shocked after I had it done cause it was so quick and I said "is that it" so I would say don't stress at all. -
My Mom was all for me getting the LapBand until..........
noosagirl replied to Rdy4ANewLife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think most people swap one addiction for another, wether it be healthy like gym, drawing, tap dancing or bad like sex, drugs and alcohol. I'm getting addicted to life and my relationships are changing around me. Other people might think that i'm changing for the worse but i'm getting a back bone and not putting up with other people walking all over me. Hope this helps. -
My Family Member Said I can Do It On my Own
noosagirl replied to mollymai's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only been banded for 2 months, so i'm no expert. I personally have no problem losing weight, its keeping it off that is the problem. In the past it didn't seem to matter how much I ate I just always craved more and could always eat more. With the band I just don't feel ravenous like before and can't eat as large portions like before,I used to be able to eat a family size pizza, couple glasses of red wine and have desert, a large piece of cake never used to touch the sides so I would have two, I just never felt full. So I reckon go on your gut instinct, listen to what everyone has to say both good and bad and then make your own mind up. -
I was banded 3rd sept and the gurgling and little monster trying to get out I am familiar with. But funnily enough after my first fill a week ago it got better and I had my second fill yesterday and haven't gurgled yet. I guess the little monster got scared and ran away, or I swollowed him.

"Do I eat more that I should at meals?" To me, I would think there would only be a problem if you answered no cause other wise we would think it normal to eat large meals. I'm not very good at explaining myself I hope you know where i'm coming from.

Do you have to plan your meals? As in, do you "diet"?
noosagirl replied to dietpeach's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Funnily enough at the moment I plan my husbands meals for the week ahead and have it up on the fridge, but do not really plan my own, its so much easier to have a plan though. I eat about one in three meals I prepare for my husband. Hope this helps. -
Why were YOU overweight?

Why were YOU overweight?
noosagirl replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my dads eyes you are probably more excepted if you kill someone than be over weight. All of my cousins on my dads side, of which there are nearly 20 are all intelligent, athletic, very skinny and most are tall (the biggest girl would be my sister who would be a US size 8!) I was hyperactive as a child so from the age of two I was on a diet. I remember hiding sweets in my cupboard at the age of five. Going to kids parties I was watched like a hawk so that I didn't have any "junk" but as soon as backs were turned I was like an out of controlled animal. I went to stay with my grandparents one time and I snuck some lollies in my suitcase which were found, I got in a lot of trouble, the same visit I sneakily bought a Mars Bar (chocolate),was caught eating it and the shit hit the fan, got in so much trouble that my grandma wouldn't talk to me for a whole day, I was only 10years old! I ended up marrying someone who, surprise surprise feels the same way about anyone being over weight as my dad does. I guess you can see that in my life BIG=BAD. I have waisted 35years thinking about my weight and I thought I just can't do this anymore, so I got banded 3rd Sept 2008 and i've promised my self to trust in the lap band and start living my life. Two weeks ago I started back at the gym, I love to dance so i'm doing Zamba classes and pole dancing as well. I also told my husband to pull his head in last week and i'm not putting up with his put downs any more. I am going to work up north for 3 weeks in Dec and I am going back packing around India for 2-3 months end of next year with or with out my husband (if he is good he can come). -
Saying goodbye to my clothes....
noosagirl replied to CorvetteFerrari's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe you can give them to a theatre so they can use them for productions. Or keep the out fits that you love the fabric of and get it made into something else or just get it taken in. You could even start a new hobby, dressmaking. -
A change in perspective
noosagirl replied to BethFromVA's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hear ya all! I want a good sleep, not snore and for my husband to sleep in the same room as me. I want my back not to be in pain even if just for a day a few days would be even better. I just want the life I deserve to have. -
1st fill yesterday, I feel no different!!
noosagirl replied to mermie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded 3rd Sept, had my 1st fill Wed and i'm embarrassed to say i'm eating more. I personally am not making the best food choices at the moment, I thought I would have restriction after 1st fill but then again it could be the food i'm eating. I am finding it hard not to eat and drink or wait the hour till after i've eaten. But I haven't put any weight on and i'm going to revaluate my eating right now. I didn't want to, or think i'd need to keep a food diary but maybe I should. -
My goal is 110-114 (BMI 19-20) because I have a really bad back (I have big boobs). But I know that I will have loose skin at that weight. Or my other goal is 123 and a breast reduction. Haven't decided yet.

Stomach spasms??? Or hunger?
noosagirl replied to JamieNP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My stomach makes strange noises, it kind of gurgles from time to time, mainly after I eat or drink, but I thought that this is normal after banding. -
I am really sorry that your going through this, I personally find it nearly impossible to make healthy choices when I'm starving. It must be so hard to do this knowing that most other people don't feel any physical hunger. I wish I had some great new advice for you, but I don't. I would listen to what everyone has to say and go back to square one and just give everything a go that everyone suggests, hell it can't hurt. GOOD LUCK!!!

I was banded on 3rd Sept 08. I had, stitch/cramp in the left side when I walked which was really bad for the first week impossible and then it hung around for another 3 weeks after that. It was only uncomfortable when walking, couldn't walk for more than 15 mins. BUT apart from that I felt great. I saw a lot of movies in the first 3 weeks.

I guess everyone is different, some might feel fine after a few days, others a few weeks. Are you taking any kind of vitamins and minerals, that might make a difference. Hope your feeling better real soon.

I'm resigned that it will take 4 fills....
noosagirl replied to jkend50035's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Was just wondering why sometimes it takes up to 2 weeks for a fill to take effect. I know it is a little off the topic, sorry. -
I think that is a great wake up call. I was banded 7 weeks ago and had my first fill yesterday and after reading your post I don't think I really needed it. You know its true what your saying. We do have to take responsibility for the types of food we intake, make sure they are healthy and also move our bodies, wether it be gym, walking, cleaning the house or chasing your kids around. It is so much easier to blame it on the band and forget the bands guide lines. THANKYOU

Please Explain "Bandster Hell"
noosagirl replied to tracie30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't know if you have tried OPTIFAST chicken soup but I like it better than the shakes. The shakes did my head in after a few days, I guess cause I don't really like milk shakes anyway. -
Told my MIL- that was a mistake, LOL

Its funny I have no problem telling strangers and aquaintances but family and some friends, thats really hard. I know I will never tell my husbands family, not in a million years! -
Am I making the right decision?
noosagirl replied to brittneylee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sounds like you've made your mind up to have the surgery anyway, so yes I think you're making the right decision. You are not just jumping into it, you have been thinking about it for a year. I say go for it! -
Mine is on my bra line, I have been using gel sheets for scars, so maybe try that and that way you'll have minimal scars and no irritation from bra.
