Losing weight while already depressed
noosagirl replied to littlefroggy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just remember you only live once, no one ever went to their grave saying I wish i'd worked harder. Work is not everything, find a job that you like and with people that you enjoy. Congratulations on your weight loss. Hope everything works itself out soon. -
My first fill (2ml) was at week 7, my second fill (2ml) week 8 and tomorrow, week 9 i'm getting my 3rd fill, maybe (1ml)? I still don't have restriction except for the band itself, I can eat maybe two cups of food, I ate Wiener Schnitzel and sauerkraut for lunch yesterday. The scales say I haven't lost any weight for 5 weeks and the doctors office said if I haven't got restriction its ok to get other fill. My question is, am I going to fast? In two weeks are my fills going to suddenly kick in? Please tell me what you all think.

Which Way Do I Go George ?
noosagirl replied to doc1857's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know which is best for you but the thing I like about the band is that it can be removed if necessary or your fill can be taken out if you become seriously ill and then put back in. I hope i'm making some sense. Anyway good luck to you which ever direction you choose to go! -
I think a BMI 31 might be to low for NHS unless you have health problems relating to your weight, but I am only guessing as i'm from Australia. I went to India for my lap band,so if the NHS doesn't cover it and you can't afford to get it done in the UK I can give you my surgeons email address.

You just won't physically be able to eat like you used to. So you might find that when you become emotional you end up doing something else, maybe have a plan. I was a big time emotional eater and when I was bored I ate or celebrating, any excuse for me. Even though I have only been banded two months and don't have a great deal of restriction compared to others I am eating about 1/5 of what I used to eat. You'll be fine.

I live in Australia and consume Optifast chicken soup and it says on packet product of Germany. Couldn't find anywhere on box or in product info about being made in China.

If I had candy around me and I couldn't eat it I think I would cry and throw a tantrum like a two year old. I think you are doing really well, I don't know if you've tried Optifast chicken soup, I personally like it better than the shakes. Good luck!

I would say a definite yes! Maybe give up two months before and two months after surgery so that your healthy going into surgery and you can heal properly afterwards. I'm sure you know the effects of smoking so I don't need to crap on about it. I like a cigarette now and then but luckily I really hate the smell on my clothes and hair.

sounds awful! Trying to understand...
noosagirl replied to willowcat's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have only been banded a couple of months, had two fills and I can eat anything just not in the same quantity as I used to, I would like to have more fills and be more restricted though. Just because you have this surgery doesn't mean you have to have as much restriction as others, so just don't have as many fills. Having said all that I don't think you should do it if your gut feeling is saying "no". Listen to your heart and do what is best for you both mentally and physically. I wish you good luck in what ever you decide to do. -
Just GOOGLE lapband or gastric banding. Different countries and different doctors have minimum and maximum BMI (body mass index). If you have any questions just post threads. I hope this has helped a bit.

No restriction with .6? Is this normal
noosagirl replied to targa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe your band holds 14ml. My band holds 9ml and I had 2ml 1st fill and 2ml 2nd fill. I had my second fill five days ago and I still haven't got restriction like others talk about, I can eat anything. Like you, I hope the 3rd fill does it for me. -
Why is Protein so Important?
noosagirl replied to gracie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the same as you, pre-op most days I would get around 30 grams of protein, but now I aim for 60 grams as a minimum. After reading all the posts I think i'll chill out about being fixated on protein and start having cereal for breakfast and increase my vegies. -
I say go for it. Your mother only cried because she loves you. Heaps of people on this forum have been banded in Mexico and you are sure to find a great Surgeon there. Find lots of success stories to show her of people banded in Mexico. Good luck!

WATER...How many mins before eating do you have to stop drinking water?
noosagirl replied to noosagirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Does this mean that if i want to eat less, all i have to do is drink cold water before eating? -
I had my 1st fill(2ml) last week on Wed which was 7 weeks after surgery and had my 2nd fill(2ml) on Tues. My band holds 9mls. I still have no restriction except that which comes with the surgery itself. I was banded overseas in India so I have to pay for my own fills, but I get most of it back from Medicare (I live in Australia). I think I can get a fill when I need it, I am going to wait two weeks this time to see if the fill kicks in at all.
-
You need to do whats right for you. As for the surgery, its really not that big of a deal.
-
I have huge boobs and if you want you can have mine but I live in Australia so i'll have to post them to you. I have lose skin thighs and butt and after i've lost all my weight I reckon i'll need my boobs hoisted up. PS Big boobs always make you look bigger
-
Yes I had diarrhea for about 2-3 weeks, but I was more worried about the opposite so it didn't bother me.

Recuperation time, what's your experience?
noosagirl replied to Nat0526's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will your work be understanding if you ask for a week off and end up needing to take two weeks off if your not feeling well? If not take two weeks. PS You have a great attitude and I think when you have a positive outlook you tend to heal quicker.
