  1. WOW! I saw your pics. You look amazing. Great job! I am new to this site and just starting to try to meet pople. This is my first week after the band nad I am trying to get some encouragement. I have a little problem with anxiety so I thought maybe this site would help me. I am still feeling the "right after surgery" pain and looking forward to a little more energy soon. But I am losing weight daily and that has never happened before. Since starting the pre-op diet, I have lost 27 lbs. Yeah! I was the kind who was a career yo-yo dieter. So losing weight was hard. I hope I have made the right decision and all this pain will be worth it. I feel badly for my kids (4 and 5) though since they are stuck in the house while I recuperate, but thank goodness for my 17 year old stepdaughter who really has been a help while doing this.

  2. I have to say that I agree with speaking to your husband and making that decision together. My insurance covered most of the procedure, but I still had the 20% I had to pay up front. It was tough just getting that money together. This is my first week, and with some of the pain I am experiencing and trying to still keep up with 2 small children, I am thinking right now, "What have I done???" But I am losing weight which I have not done in many years almost daily. I think you will still feel a bit of the guilt (I have tons of it still thinking that I spent so much on myself and a little for my own vanity), I think the recuperation will make it a little more difficult. I can not wait to be as excited as all those others out there who are enjoying the weight loss without the "right after surgery" pain. This will obviously have to be your own decision. If what I read was correct, you are wanting to start a family. Children were very important to me and they are actually the reason for being at my present weight since I was slim and trim before then. Even if you get pregnant now, there is some torture in getting back down to your pre-pregnancy weight. If you are already overweight, chances are you will not even lose that baby weight and you will not get to enjoy your child as much once those kids start walking and running, etc...If there is only the two of you, this might be a good idea to go for the surgery and get by on less for a little while to invest in your happiness...or you might start blaming him for your condition due to his job loss, resulting in marriage conflicts (been there, done that). I think a good heart to heart would be good, and I would suggest looking into other doctors in your area. The $18 K sounds kinda high depending on what is included. Ok, thought I would put in a few thoughts. Not sure if it will help.

  4. Hi! We were banded on the same day! I wanted to find some others around the forum to discuss all that is going on with my body. I am having some stomach "hiccups" occassionally. It is creating some anxiety in me. It makes it difficult to sleep at night. I also have some back pain. I am not sure if that reason is only because I do not have the best mattress in the world or what. I am hoping it is not a kidney infection or anything of that matter. I am only on liquids still. no creamy soups until next week according to my doctor. Of course that has caused me to feel pretty sluggish at the moment. Got any ideas to help boost some energy?

Hi all! I am so excited that I finally received my Lap-Band! I have been waiting so long for this, and I finally received it. Goodness, I am so sore though. This is my first week. Between my pre-op diet and now the liquid diet, I have now officially lost 25 lbs since beginning the entire procedure...so I am gritting through the pain. Anyone want to give me some advice? I could use anything on what to expect. I am pretty exhausted though and tired most of the day. I am sure that will get better over time. Any suggestions on getting more energy? I am not hungry at all which is great because I was always hungry, but where do I get more energy from?
