Hello, I was banded the same day May 9th 2006. I do not feel the Vanguard Band that I have and I want an agressive fill. I will get a fill on June 21st. Right now I have no symptoms of the band and I think that it is time to get it going and do some learning on myself and my band and my restrictions. I need to learn then, good, bad and indifferent. It is time to get it on! I still only eat a very small amout and about 800 calories aday and 70 oz of Fluid. But it is time to go to the next level and get what I paid for. I will keep you in my loop as I go to Boston and then the next day to Central America for a few days. I am bringing Protein Shakes with ma as I might not be able to eat for a few days.... Peace

I only told one person. I do not have to answer to anyone and neither do you. How will your kids know? Do you walk around the house naked? Will you tell everyone your going to the hospital? You will only be in the hospital one or two days. Relax and keep it to yourself. If your friends ask about drinking tell them your just trying to lose some weight and get healthy. They will understand if they are REAL friends....Just do it and do not worry about the trival Bullshit. Remember its all about you and the quality of your life!!!!! Go for it...and keep your mouth shut..

Sherrie Jo, Almost the same thing happened to me. I was going to Mexico and then my insurance said they would pay 100% in the states. So I went to the states and put my money into a mutual fund. Save your money as the doctors in Mexico are making enough. I wish I could make 10k for 45 minutes work. I think if the surgeon is in the states with a reputable instituiton with the follow you would need then stick to the USA!!!! Otherwise you will have to find fills from someone not familiar with you. Stick to the local doctor and any possible complications can be addressed in your area.... peace

I think you should follow what Woodys says...I think you may hurt yourself..Discipline....Discipline....and you will be better off with the weight loss and healing...

Hello All , Thanks for the information. Like I stated before I fly to the states next week to have a fill and do not want to have to come back in two weeks. I am hoping a goooooooood fill ...I think if it is tight I will not feel hungry like I do now. I can deal with liquids only for a couple of weeks if I have too...I want a good push to go forward. I have lost 18lbs after two weeks. Now I am 4 weeks out and have not been on the scale since the two weeks. I know I am losing weight by my clothes. Scale is not my measuring stick ,,,clothes are....

Wow, You look great and so perky and trim....Can we get updated pictures with clothes on and off? Thank and keep up the excellent work!!

The after care for the first year will probably be one visit every one or two months. I will fly back to Boston...

Diva, I have to tell you that I was a special situation for NEMC. This is how it worked for me and don't quote me on this. I filled in the information on there website for more information. I told them that I live outside of the US and would like to have surgery on a certain day. The office wrote back and told me they would be happy to take on my case. I told my insurance company of the hospital I would be using and they contacted the proper offices at the hospital. I flew to Boston on Sunday. Had pre op appointments on Monday, blood, ekg, chest xray...then met the doctor for a few minutes maybe 5-10 minutes. Talked to the nutritionist and got weighed. The next day went in for surgery at about 12.30 and at about 5 pm I was rolled across the street to my hotel "the Doubletree" and rested for a couple of days. On the Friday I request a follow up visit and they I was on my way back home. Two weeks post op I went back to them for about a 15 minute visit and saw the nutritionist and the doctors assistant and away I went ... I go back to Boston on June 20th fill 21st and fly back on the 22nd. Please don't use my way as the norm....Like I said I was a special case...

Hello all , I had my surgery at the NEMC with doctor Tarnoff. It was all good as I am now 4 weeks post op. I have to say the whole team has been very professional and I will be back toward June 20th for my first fill . Please ask me if you have any questions ...If you call his office they will take care of you...write me any time... Seminole

Hello All, I am feeling just the same. I am almost 4 weeks out of surgery. I know exactly how you feel. I have not even tried to vary from the diet my doctor has put me on. I am going to hang in there as I was told...If i feel hungry to just fight it. We all need to be strong until we get an adjustment to hopefully makes us feel satisfied. I was down 18 lbs after two weeks and that is motivation enough to stick to the program....This band seems to be proven to work so give it some time and lets see... I am getting about 700-800 calories a day , 70-80 grams Proteins and about 70 oz of water/crystal light....Do not over do the excercise as that will increase your appetite... Be strong and stick to the game plan!!!

Hello All, We seemed to have ended the month great and not its time to move on. I think for me this is a challenging time as I do not have any restriction and I do not try to over do it. I am sticking to my food as required by my surgeon and nutrionist. I have to wait until the 21 of June for a fill. I will not try to consume more then what t hey told me to consume. I am getting in about 700-800 calories per day and about 70-80 grams of protein and about 70 oz of water everyday. Last week I started to write down all that I consume with calories, protein, exercise, etc. We all need a push and maybe we should all make some short term goal to achieve. Being that I am not getting on the scale until I go for my fillI am in the dark as to my progress. I know that after my two weeks I had lost 18lbs...However I want to get it on as it is summer and need to be pushing myself....Let me tell you all something about exercise. Please start to do some, whatever it is, but you must make it something you can continue for life...Do not jump in and work out everyday at the gym and killing yourself with these workouts. Trust me , been there done that but you can't keep it up forever!!! I was in the military and was fit as could be and I have lost weight before doing exercise all the time but ones body can't keep it up. Do something moderate and enjoyable that will keep you motivated. Walk the dog, do some gardening, wash the car, walk the step instead of the elevator, walk the mall do some movement of your body...and drink all those fluids...I consider myself as starting the flood and let the water flow... I hope this helps someone... Moderation is the key to all of this..Moderation is our new lifstyle

Drews Lou ????? Please let us know how the fill went. I want to hear all about it.. We are all almost at the end of our birth month and it seems all has work well with the May 2006 Band Crew... Now you first week people need to start checking in with some statistics and reporting of your situations... Damn, I am so happy I started this thread has it seems to be a good place for our Crew to report , share, explain and the most important part to me is the SUPPORT!!! Seminole!!!

Hello, I kinda had the same situation... First of all I do not live in the US..I was going to go to Mexico as it quick to get an appointment/ surgery. Then I did a bit more research and got in contact with my insurance company to see if they would pay . My insurance company told me they would pay 100 percent if I went to one of the "in network" hospitals. Did more research and contacted a few places and found an excellent place to get in done and in network!!! Four weeks later I was banded with no money out of my pocket. With all this said if I were you I would do the six months diet , save some of your money and get it done close to home. It is better to have any follow up with the surgeon that is close to home AND performed the surgery!! I know how you feel that you are ready to go, but take your time and get it done close to home!! I hope this helps ...Hang in there Peace and love
