  1. It's really troubling to see how different the diets differ from country to country and from doctor to doctor. Everyone has their own twist on it. And that's the part that mentally plays with me so much -- knowing others are allowed to eat even one small meal a day while some of us are told no. And I keep telling myself exactly that -- whether I eat 160 calories of chicken or from a protein shake -- it's still 160 calories and still protein. It's a very messed up game I have in my head trying to tell myself to follow their rules meanwhile I'm suffering and not feeling good.
  2. So I had contacted them on Friday. They kind of just blew it off as "normal". I understand the mood swings are normal. As is some digestive issues. But, mine have been nonstop. So they were closed this weekend and I called this morning and I'm waiting on a call back from the surgeon's team to figure out what I can do. My diet has zero solid foods. No veggies, no fruit, no meat of any kind. Nothing. The few things I'm "allowed" to eat have lactose and my GI doctor believes I'm lactose intolerant. I'm hopeful I'll get good news today. Thank you for listening and reaching out.
  3. Hi! I'm going to be switching to my old vegan shakes that I never had a bad reaction to. I've also called all my offices today and I'm waiting on a call back directly from my surgeon's team. I'm hopeful they call ASAP and give me some sort of a solution. It is REALLY NICE to be able to reveal all of my feelings, as ugly as they were yesterday...it helped me SOOOO MUCH.
  4. Thank you so much for just listening and reading. Writing on here yesterday helped release so much of the anger and disappointment I was feeling. I've reached out to my GI doctor and my surgeon's team and I'm supposed to get a call back today. Already seeing my GI doctor tomorrow.
  5. OMG! YESSSS! The mood swings are so intense. And super unfortunate. I am now in that stage of nonstop crying and nonstop anger. I've been able to control my anger and not lash out but sometimes I do make some very strong remarks to my boyfriend and I feel so guilty. I cry all the time -- I definitely release that LOL. At times I just isolate myself to make sure I keep myself controlled. I will say I feel better today compared to how low and intense I felt last night.
  6. Hi! Is diarrhea normal when on the all liquid pre-op diet? I'm on day 4. My intestines are nonstop rumbling and causing discomfort. I have probably gone #2 about 5-7 times so far and I've been awake for only 8 hours today. I called my surgeon's office today to ask if I can somewhat expand my diet or maybe add some other things to it (like fiber? or chia seeds?) and I was told I'd have to make an appointment and the next availability wasn't until June 9 (LOL my surgery is scheduled for April 26th). I was on such a clean diet and losing weight prior to the all liquid diet. I was at the gym daily lifting heavy too. I stopped going to the gym since I started the all liquid diet. I still try to do daily 1 hour walks to at least get my system going. I'm worried about working out how I was when I'm probably on a 500 calorie diet now... I've had nonstop GI issues for over a year now that I've been working with my GI doctor to figure out. And the all liquid diet isn't helping. I'm not quite sure what I can do or where to seek help. I do have access to a 24/7 nurse through my insurance so I may explore that tonight just for advice from a nurse. Being honest, I just don't feel okay in regards to my digestive system. I'm uncomfortable and constantly running to the bathroom. I feel bloated and gassy. Sometimes the urge to go #2 is super strong and I try to run to the bathroom (which isn't even far from me) and I've already had accidents. I know this is super raw and honest, but I'm so shocked at how my system is reacting. I know I already had other GI issues so this certainly isn't helping one bit. Do people have normal stools during the all liquid diet? Is diarrhea common? What should I do? Any advice or tips?
  7. I'll have to try it in hopes it helps!!! Thank you! I will try those tablets! Thank you!
  8. Hi Tina! I've never had an issue with sugar free gelatins or liquids. Those are staples of my diet and have been for years. What I was suspecting was causing this was all the almond milk and all the yogurt. I normally don't eat that. And I LOVE cottage cheese and eat it regularly even before this diet, but just last week my GI doctor said he suspected I may be somewhat allergic to cottage cheese, milks and yogurts. So I'm torn between following this pre-op diet that is sooo limited but some of the little liquids I'm allowed to have may be causing issues...but I'm not a surgeon and I can't just dictate what's best for me in order to undergo this surgery. I actually just got imodium per my GI's recommendation. I should take that right now! Thank you for the idea, I hadn't thought of it. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me.
  9. That was beautifully written. I'm going to re-read this anytime I'm having a hard time. Thank you for sharing such kind thoughts and words with me. Did you regain weight after a first initial surgery? I had naturally lost 100+ lbs about 9 years ago and with time, I regained it all. This surgery is my second attempt at losing 100+ lbs.
  10. Hi girl! The 26th is my surgery date!!! AHHHH!!! Honestly -- I'm going to be honest with you. I was nervous about it too, and now that I'm in it -- I am quite unhappy. I'm miserable. That's me being honest. Prior to the diet, I was already on a diet and working out every day and losing weight. So I figured since I was showing my team I was making really good choices, that maybe somehow the all liquid diet could get shortened or changed. Nope. I need to find the Fairlife shakes, and the Protein2o waters too. Everyone talks about those. My tips for the broths are these: Go to your nearest Target and order all of the "Good & Gather" broths. The tortilla, ramen, Tuscan and pho broths are already flavorful and I always add spices to it, especially the bouillon stuff. Makes them DELICIOUS. I also always boil mine so it's nice and warm and it brings me comfort. To be super honest, the issue I'm having right now is with my digestive system. I've had digestive system issues for the past 2 years ever since I got COVID. And this all liquid diet is really aggrevating it all. Hi Tina! It's really hard, and today I noticed my digestive system is NOT happy. I'm CONSTANTLY running to the bathroom. I'm very uncomfortable. I have internal fights with myself about this diet and how some are allowed to eat one meal and some are not allowed to eat anything. What's right? I know ultimately I need to follow my surgeon's instructions as unfortunate as they may be. I need to try more gatorades and electrolyte drinks. I will have to try packets since the bottles are pricey. Honestly, a lot of this stuff is super pricey.
  11. Ok first of all -- YOUR RESULTS ARE INSANE!!!! SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! My goal weight is 150-ish! Okay, I have not thought of these "cheese curds" you mentioned. Were they good? I have boiled lots of water and added seasoning like bouillon powder and cubs to add flavor. I'll have to google that or youtube it and see how it's done! I love the creativity!!! I need to eat more of the popsicles I bought. I don't love the texture of the ones I got, but I've tried other sugar free popsicles that were soooooo fruity and much smoother.
  12. Hi! 😎 I'm on a 2 week pre-op diet of all liquids. 😭 🤢 One of the yummiest things I'm allowed to eat is sugar-free pudding. I've bought the Snack Pack sugar free pudding in flavors chocolate and vanilla and they taste great. However, I recently bought the pudding mix to make at home (and make in bigger amounts since clearly I'm hungry). I mixed the pudding mix with almond milk (saw online that recipes recommend you use less almond milk compared to traditional milk), since on my diet I'm allowed to have unsweeted almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk but not regular milk. Bad news -- the pudding I made doesn't taste as yummy as the pre-packed Snack Pack pudding. Any tips to fix my pudding? I really enjoy eating it but I definitely need it in bigger amounts than the small snack-size... Thanks! ☺️
  13. I have not! I'll have to see about adding those flavors!
  14. Yeah -- I've read stories of people who cheated and were fine. And then others who cheated and day of surgery on the operating table they got denied because their liver was too big. I know I'm not the biggest patient ever so I SHOULD be fine, but I also know it's a journey and the first few days are probably the hardest. I am curious to see how much I lose in these next two weeks LOL.
  15. OMG your diet is even harder! I'm lucky compared to yours. 😥 I'm on day three! Let's really connect and keep each other accountable/give each other help! I hadn't heard of Knox Blox and now I'm googling. I'm down for trying different things. Honestly, I find myself on YouTube a lot trying to figure out what to do and how to mix it up. I haven't tried the Shamrock Frams shakes or the Rockin' Protein ones. Fairlife is really recommended by a lot but I'm having trouble finding them at a somewhat affordable price since I already went out and bought four protein powders...honestly, I've spent about $250 just on liquid foods to fill my fridge. It's insane considering I'm just drinking liquids. It's mind blowing. But there's nothing I can do about it. It still seems so impossible and I'm trying to be positive about it but right now my mind is hung up on this: Some surgeons require all liquid for 2 weeks, some surgeons require all liquid just the day before, and some surgeons require all liquid all day except for one solid meal under XXX calories for 2 weeks. So I keep thinking to myself that maybe there's some wiggle room...but I also don't want to risk it, but so many other people get placed on different diets for the same procedure.
  16. Thank you for this tip! I just ordered all these different flavored broths (in cartons) that Target sells (and at a great price!) and I will be buying some bouillon cubes and "cooking" it together to make it seem more flavorful. I'm not sure what bone broth is compared to other broths? Also thank you for sharing in such details what you liked and did when you underwent this diet. I appreciate it! Everyone keeps mentioning Fairlife -- I NEED to find them and try them out!
  17. I'm so happy and relieved to hear that! 🙂 I'm definitely feeling hungry at the moment. So far have had: yogurt, 1 protein shake, and pudding...doesn't help that I'm at work and had to pre-pack and pre-make everything not knowing exactly how it'll go. I packed broth in a protein cup and I'm sure that won't be very yummy...
  18. I feel okay so far...but I'm barely a couple of hours in! 🤣 I'm already going a bit crazy thinking of what more I can get and buy and how to tweak the broths...I'm on an ALL liquid diet and it seems impossible.
  19. Hi! I JUST JOINED. I've been lurking for a few days but decided it was time I join. Well...today is day 1 of my pre-op diet. Your diet sounds a whole lot better than mine. Mine is all liquids. I'm not sure how this is going to go...I'm optimistic but this is HARD.
