Gee-I don't know what I would do in your case. I just had my first fill Wednesday and my stomach has hurt ever since, I was wondering if that is normal. Hope things work out for you.

How easy or difficult has it been to lose weight with Lap Band?
wanda-sc replied to photo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi: I had my surgery June 5. On June 23 I had a blood clot in my leg, from the IV's in the hospital and the appetite the coumadin has given me, I have gained 11 pounds. I go tomorrow for my first fill, I have no idea what the doctor is going to say. Right now I can eat as much of anything that I could before surgery. I may have really messed things up. I don't know if I have already stretched out the pouch of my stomach since I eat so much. Just wondering if anyone else experienced anything like this. I am so depressed right now. I can't even exercise because I am on blood thinners. Is this a lost cause? Please write back. Wanda:confused: -
:thumbup:Hi: Most all of us have this dilema. People are often "comfortable" with the way we are and don't want us to change. Our overweight friends really like you being just like them. You will have people who sabotage you, try to get you to eat things you shouldn't. Change scares people. It may even scare your family, wondering if you are still going to be the same person on the inside. You have support here 24/7. We all know what you are going through. Best of luck! Wanda

Personally I do not like the taste of the Isopure. But it was on my first clear liquid stage. You have to experiment and find one that suits your taste Good Luck

Warning to all of you-it just happened to me
wanda-sc posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi: My name is Wanda, I was banded June 5. I have been taking coumadin ever since I had surgery. When I went in for surgery I was given a shot of heparin. All this to keep me from having a clot. But guess what? I got one anyway. So if any of you experience any of the following after surgery: Swelling Redness Painful area GET TO YOUR DOCTOR!!!! I woke up at 1 am with my left calf throbbing, there was no redness or swelling. I had a feeling it was a clot. I waited until 4am to tell my husband I was going to call me doctor. Dr. said to go to the ER and have a leg scan, I thought man this is gonna be bad if it's nothing, I live an 1 1/2 hours away from the hospital where I had surgery. What would have happened if I had ignored my symptoms? I probably would not be warning you guys for sure. Listen to your bodies after this surgery, please. -

Thanks to all of you who have responded to my post. I wish I had know a little more about this before hand. I hope this will help future banders. -
I think that would be considered in the slider category. I wouldn't worry about it. It cracks me up you asked that.

Warning to all of you-it just happened to me
wanda-sc replied to wanda-sc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I said before, I had a leg study done before surgery, was given heparin before surgery, wore the stockings the pump up and down and I walked. Also have been on coumadin since surgery, my doc requires it for a month. But it still happened despite all the things that were done to prevent clots. -

lap band surgical disaster

:eek:So sorry to hear you went through all that. I am like some of the others in asking you to post the doctor's name and the hospital, it may save someone else from what happened to you. We never know unless brave people like you tell us. I pray for you a speedy recovery. -
Hi: I had my surgery June 5. For 4 weeks before I had to eat a Protein bar or have a Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch and then a sensible dinner. Every surgeon is different. They put you on the pre diet to shrink your liver just in case you have fatty liver disease. Not everyone has it. I will have to admit though I did not always stick strictly to it. I hope you do well with your surgery.

This hasn't been too bad so far. How is everyone else doing?

I need to compare diets with some other post ops. I figure I am getting under 600 calories a day. I am feeling faint when I go outside. I freeze and then burn up, I don't have a fever though. I have even gotten out the electric blanket. I feel horrible. Am I getting enough calories? Anyone else experience these feelings?

dizzy and light headed

Hi: I was banded 6/5/08. I stll feel crappy. If I go outside and the heat hits me I feel like I am going to pass out. I was so sure that this was a good thing. I am wondering if I made the right decision now. I start burning up and then freezing, I have even gotten out the electric blanket. I don;t have a fever, I don't know what's going on. I called my doctor, the don't seem concerned. I can only have 2 oz of food 3 times a day, plus liquids and 3 Protein drinks. I figure I am getting under 600 calories a day. I wonder if this is the problem. What is your beginning diet? I would like to compare.:confused2: -
Long Drive After Surgery???
wanda-sc replied to ThinknHealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi: I was just banded June 5. I also live 1 1/2 hours from the surgery center. I had to stay the night for observation. I needed someone to drive me home. I know there are so many people on this sight that just jump right up after surgery and really do well, but I had 2 demerol pills to get me home and I slept the whole way. I hope you do better than I did, but just in case, take someone with you.:smile2:Good luck! -
psychiatric evaluation? diet classes?
wanda-sc replied to Cortney6983's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every doctor is different in what they require you to do pre op. I only had an hour psych evaluation. She just asked why I wanted it done, if I had family support and if I had ever had counseling before. On the diet, I had to attend a seminar to begin with. Then just before my surgery I had to attend 1 1/2 hours of nutrition and 1 1/2 hours of post op talk. They also have support group meetings, I havent been to one of those. I was banded June 5. Sometimes insurance has alot to do with how many hoops you have to jump through before surgery. Good luck, and don't let all the "pre" stuff get you down.:cursing: -
Gee: No wonder you haven't had time for a fill. You have made major changes in your life. You had to make some time for you and your new marriage and job, now when you feel like it, look for a new doctor. Don't be so hard on yourself, sounds like you are really accomplishing alot.:cursing:

Ever feel its not worth it?

:confused:Hi, I know what you are going through. I was banded June 5. Still having pain on my port site. I have now figured I am allergic to latex because after they remove my staples, I have a huge blister where they put a steri strip. I went to the movies with my daughter yesteray an it was so hot when we came out, I almost passed out, and I have never done that in my life. So, did I do the right thing? I don't know yet. I felt like this was my only alternative since I have no self control. I figured my eating would soon kill me, since I already have comorbidities. Let's hope things get better soon!!! -

wanda-sc replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi: I turned 50 on May 31, 2008 and was banded June 5, 2008. I wondered how this journey is going to go due to age. I noticed the surgery hit me a little harder than I expected. -
I feel so awful....
wanda-sc replied to Olgasworld284's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
They checked me before surgery for the same thing. It's called H Pylori bacteria, it can cause ulcers. Be glad you are getting rid of this before you have your band. -
Will the surgeon operate if I have allergies?
wanda-sc replied to Camel_Cracker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing. All they checked was my temp and it was fine. If you feel like it could be anything more than allergies, I would ask my GP before going all the way to Mexico. -

Pictures of me trying to hide behind people Buying cheap or consignment clothes because I don't want to buy good fat clothes. Not being the "inside joke" because I can eat more than the men of the couples we hang around with Being embarrassed about meeting people -
I just figured this out yesterday. Go to tickerfactory.com. Pick the scale and slider you want, enter your info. Then there is a place when you finish that says "generate code". Copy the code, then come back to this site, go into edit your profile and under change signature in the pick box paste what you copied from tickerfactory. Remember to save tickerfactory in your favorites so you can go and update stats and it will automatically change on this site. Hope this helps!:tongue2:
