I am considering the gastric bypass following the sleeve 6 years ago.. no complications from the sleeve at all., however, regained my weight. Any comments or suggestions ?

I bought the premium shakes at costco but I have to add some cocoa powder to them for more choc flavor... but this week I think I can put a banana in it so maybe it would be ok.. I will try one today... but I am now eating cottage cheese, tuna, scramble egg, bean soup strained, cheese slices, ( they mostly melt in your mouth) .. I guess i could just experiment at 4 weeks out as long as I go slow.... all that I have is protein.. do I really need the shakes ? I go for my blood work on monday so I guess that will tell.. my next appt is on the 17th... anyone else be there ?

I just had the sleeve done and am 2 weeks out.. I am having trouble getting the protein shakes down.. someone mentioned the Myplex shakes at Sam's club and someone else mentioned the protein bullets... Any ideas where I can get the bulltets ? is this something in a health food store ? shar

maybe your nutritionist is working in the catholic health system instead of affiliations with kaleida !!

All I can say is that Drs Posner and Hoffman are both top notch !! their f/u is also the very very best.. I don't believe that Carruana has good followup at all, but, that is what I heard... I have never been sorry for for sticking to this group at all.. they are very thorough.. You may get it done quicker with Carruanna but that is because the BGH group is so very thorough... The difference between Hoffman and Posner is personality only..but, they are both very carring and brilliant.. I can't say you would be better off with one or the other..One experiance I had regarding emergency care was about 1 year ago, I had a sudden stomach flu... I had never thrown up with the band.. so I got scarred after vomiting.. I called Posner's office at 5am... and apparently Hoff was on call for that weekend.. He called me by 5:15am... Now, if that is not good followup emergency or just plain followup care , I don't know what your nutritionist is talking about.. Everyone loves Hoffman and I think he may be more forgiving personality and Posner is stricter regarding lots of things e.g. pre op diet, etc... but, he kept me on my toes and I would never change... good luck and let me know how you make out..

thanks all for the kind words.. I went to the doc yesterday and he said I was doing fine... although only 6 days out..I thought he maybe would take the drain out.. I didn't want to go thru this funeral with this nuisance hanging around my belly but he said, not yet.. lets do it friday..just to be safe.. Wel, I trust him, he knows best but so disapointing.. I can start full liquids now, creamed Soups and yogurt.. much of a relief.. I try to get my Protein shakes in but so sick of it already.. wish I can put a banana in it .. but I better not yet,, I have come to far to have any problems.. Tiff, you are really an inspiration to me... keep up the good work...

I find that it is quicker if you go to the phych that they recommend.. I think her name is Colleen.. can't remember her last name... very very nice and she is well aware of their time frames etc.. so she gets the eval faxed over to the correct place asap... you won't be sorry you went to her..sometimes it takes a few weeks to see her so try to call for an appt asap.. I felt that by the time I left her office, I had made a new friend... very compassionate.. In fact, she even spoke at one of our support group meetings last year... You'll like her.. Another tip I can give you.. start now gathering all test results, sleep study (if you have already had one) any paperwork regarding any of your co-morbitities (sp)... recent pap, mammogram, labs, anything that the doc would like to look at before he will consider this procedure for you.. get them all together and bring them in for your first visit.... make a folder for you and them.... keep track of what you give them and things will go quicker... its a big office and sometimes paperwork gets lost and then creates holdups... good luck to you

Tiff, you look awesome... I got sleeved last tuesday. the worst part was the nausea.. I haven't even had to take any pain meds.. I got home from the hospital at 8pm and at 4:30 in the morning I got that dreaded call that no one should ever get... My younger brother passed away suddenly.. I am so worried about getting thru this along with following the rules of post op correctly... Yesterday, I only had one protein shake because I have so upset.. I don't want to sabatage my recovery after all that I have been thru to get this surgery.. Wish me luck... Right now my mind is all over the place,,, thanks for listening...

Hey, good luck on your surgery tomorrow.... mine is Jan 11th... I've noticed that most of you that have had the sleeve.. have also started out with the band.. I did not do well with the band as far as loosing like the 1-2 lbs per week that we were suppose to... believe me, I followed the rules too !! the only thing I could have improved on was the exercise.. I should have done more... Now that you have the sleeve, do you find it easier to loose than the band ?? just curious..

You do look great !! you should be very proud of yourself.... My surgery is Jan 11th ... wish me luck !! hope I'm making the right choice in taking the band out and doing the sleeve.. In reading your forum..I really haven't seen many complications or anyone sorry for having this surgery.. So, I am going to take the plunge !! thanks guys for all your support.. the band is actually kind of between your breasts.. like at the breast bone ..Sounds like your symtoms are too far low for the band to be involved, but, I would call Hoffman or Posner's office and find out first.. don't let it go.. Good luck... let me know how you made out...

I have been having problems with the band so I am trying to get the sleeve aproved.. seems like some of the girls are having better luck with the sleeve than the band... keep us posted... BGX-- I am calling LLL tomorrow.... maybe we can meet together with her... what is your schedule ??I am in Bflo mondays, wednesdays and fridays..

I don't know where you are from but there is an appeal process to go thru and each appeal is reviewed by a different doc.. get your doctor to send in a very strong letter to stress all of your co-morbitities.. if that doesn't help, go to your State Insurance Department and se if they have an appeal process you can go thru...

thank for the info... I have never liked coffee, however, in the last 4-6 months I have enjoyed a cup in the morning with the flavored no fat creamer.. no sugar.. I guess I could give it up if I need to but I do enjoy it.. I don't even think it gives me energy like some people say that they can't get on with the day until they cave their coffee... just waiting for the approval is driving me crazy... the sooner I get on board the better....
