    May 2022 surgery?

5.45am? Oh My that is early. Not even the birds are awake here at that time. Dont suppose that you will sleep much though. Hope that everything goes well for you tomorrow. Hope you have a good amount of people around you to support and lean on. I will be doing that same next Monday at 12pm. Please check in here when you are awake to let us know how you went. Thinking good thoughts for you Crisscat.
  2. How did you go at the clinic asking for an alternative?

    May 2022 surgery?

All set to go next Monday. I saw the Surgeon this morning and also paid the Surgeons Bill and the anesthetic guys as well. The surgeon mentioned this morning that he would also check on my hernia while he was in there. One place I needed to go had a lift that was broken. I needed to walk up two levels. I am glad that they had chairs on each level. I always go red in the face. Other people had no problem with the stairs. Hopefully that will be me in the future. Anyway another week to go on the optifast Diet. It has all gone pretty well. Hears to all of us. WE GOT THIS.
  4. Checking in with your clinic is a great idea. Sometimes medications come in liquid form. I have one 100mg large pill to take. It didn't come in liquid form where I live but it does come in a much smaller dose in a smaller size. So 4 little ones vs 1 horse pill. Thankfully another medication can be changed to be crushable. Hope it isnt too disgusting. I am sure that your clinic will be able to sort something out for you. Good Luck.

    Post-op tips/necessities

Last year I bought a adjustable bed because I though it would help me to breathe better in bed. I had not thought that I would be getting the RNY in the future. I am glad I have it now. It will help. Recliners are great for sleeping in too. Mine used to double as a bed many many night when my reflux was a huge issue.

    New to all of this

I was daunted by doing 2 weeks of the the liquid diet. I wondered how I would manage it. Now that I am 6 days into it I have to say it is not that bad. It is exciting to eat new vegies for me. ( My eating habits have not been the best for years). Nice to have shakes and soups and bars. Nice new Lemon Creme Dessert. From the Optifast Program. I also thought other things might be and issue but they really haven't eventuated. Yes I am hungry but this is okay when you keep yourself busy. The headaches can be dealt with by pain meds and the nausea for me is helped by ondansetron. My original doubt has been replaced by - Yes, I can do this. I will be okay. It is going well.
  7. At the end of day 5 of the two week program. Mostly it been okay just a few headaches. Right now I have another serious nausea attack. Took a pill for the nausea. I really hope that it kicks in sooner rather than later.

    You are all my buddies

Good Luck on your journey. Why didnt we do it earlier? Cos it wasnt the right time. Now is our time to embrace ourselves and kick diabetes and arthritis to the curb.

Over night stay at hospital. Yay or nay

I dont think that I would feel comfortable going home the same day especially having the RNY. My surgeon said that I would be in for a three or four night stay. I mentioned that to the dietician and she said it may be even longer as they need to get my blood sugar level down. I am no fan of hospitals. If I need to stay I will.

    May 2022 surgery?

I have been allowed 100g of Chicken or fish Per day. Also lots of vegetables. I just had a sugar free pineapple jello that I made last night. Working out what you can eat and when is a distraction. Last night I had a protein vegie soup with 100 grams of poached fish and with extra vegies. That was a satisfying meal. Tonight I had chicken stir fry with garlic and ginger and a bit of soy. I have used a nutri bullet for the first time yesterday - that was fun. It has been so long since I have looked after myself properly that it's nice and somehow exciting to finally be actively working towards the Op. I think the best way to get through this is to keep busy. Write journals - I started one last night. Set goals. Plan for the Food that you can have after surgery. I did that today. Also writing a list for what you need in hospital. Take it day by day of hour by hour if you need to Diva, Kick this preparation week to the curb. You got this. You need to do this. Your surgeon is counting on you. And You are counting on you too. Show up for yourself. Think of the thousands that have gone before us and got to the other side who are now living their best life. We got this. ☺️

    Weight gain

From your reckoning then you are 117lbs. You are still well below your goal weight and currently at a healthy BMI. Maybe your body is just readjusting. Giving yourself a little leeway might be a good thing for now.
  13. You might try to call the surgeon's office to get an estimation. Apart from insurance requirements Covid has affected the length of wait times because of the cancellation of elective surgeries that has lead to greater wait times. Least it has here in Oz. Your health insurer could give it some perspective as to what they will require.

    The Very Beginning

Hiya Gnerdie, Only have a suggestion for you. I have found the Facebook site 'Bariatric Support Australia' a very good means of information. I live near Melbourne in Vic so I cannot recommend anyone. I wish you well on your journey.

7 day post op mental breakdown

Both your body AND mind have needed to deal with very major issues. ((Hugs)) Tears are natures way of restoring the hormonal balance. Allow your mind to heal and just rest. Feel Peace. Tea sounds like a great go to. Maybe something with electrolytes in it would help to restore the balances. Keep the water up. You really are amazing. It is okay not to feel okay and give your body and mind time to adjust. ☺️

    May 2022 Surgeries

Mine is set for May 9th. I am looking forward to a reset in my habits and a change. One week to go before I start the liquid diet. 😊
  19. You have already proved to yourself that you can do this. You have lost 80lbs. I heard that this can happen. Please try to keep things in check. Better to get on top of this now while the weight gain is minimal. Do you want to go back to where you were? Give yourself the gift of life. You got this. 💗

    Rny patients....& Taste change

How are you tolerating the shakes now. Do you like the shakes?

    Surgery tomorrow morning

    Have a great day.
  23. Possum220

    Just ordered my shakes

My surgery is on the May 9th and I have been asked to start the diet on the 25th of this month. I think I have gone overboard with the shakes, Soups and Bars by Optifast. I Have also bought items for the week afterward. Sugar free jellies and purees and sugar free popsicles. I have also invested in Tasteless protein powder to ad to drink and foods. My spare room looks like a shop. 😃 I figure that I can continue to use these products after the surgery. I am like you. I am worried about the two weeks liquid diet more than the surgery. I am going to makes sure that I take advantage of what I have bought. I suppose our focus is on the OP at the moment rather than the journey afterwards. Good Luck to us Diva.

    Kinda TMI question...

Get a doctor to prescribe Tranexamic. Acid - it says it comes in liquid form. This should make the event much lighter and with less pain.
