How often do you weigh yourself after WLS?
Possum220 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an RNY a week ago. At this point I am scared to weigh myself for fear of retaining fluid. Not sure when to weigh myself. Every month, week or day? In previous attempts with weight loss programs I found the weekly weigh in daunting due to the fact that I was a slow lose most people weigh themselves. How often do you weigh in? -

I am wanting to avoid that bummed out feeling too. I know that I will be weighed when I see my surgeon next Wednesday. Hope that will not be disappointed. -

That sounds sensible. -
Hi Merrill. Hugs. For some it is a breeze. I did have another hernia repaired 2 years ago and I was in heaps of pain with just that. Hard to know what the cause of the pain is. Like you I was also very anxious before it all. None of us will be the same in our journey. Hope that you sail through it all. I have to say that I was sooo relieved to be on the other side. We have had a long road to get here. I did have a lovely nurse who said that she had surgery and told me how happy she was that she had done this and is now reaping the rewards. Very reassuring. You WILL get through this. It will be worth any short term pain for the long term gain. It is going to be okay. Keep breathing. Dont be afraid to ask for pain killers if you need it.

Good Luck. Hope everything goes well.

Hope that everyone else is doing well. I had my RNY done last Monday. While the surgeon did that he also repaired a hernia for me. Afterwards the pain was horrid. I was put on a drip and not allowed to walk because my blood pressure went lower than normal. It took until Thursday until I felt reasonable and I went home Friday. When I went home my legs were horribly swollen from the drip. Thank goodness they were remarkably improved by the next day. I have been up and looking after myself but mostly watching Netflix. Tomorrow is the first day of soft food. Mushed up baked beans here I come.

It is 7.20 am here and I am ready to go into hospital to have my RNY done at midday. I did so much better on two week liquid diet than I thought I would. I am proud of myself for this. Mostly packed and will be at the hospital by lunch time. I had decided to only tell 2 people about it irl but I outed myself accidentally by posting details on my facebook timeline. That has kinda taken the shine off today. Hopefully I will be able to laugh at some stage but not yet. Looking forward to the future. One with hope.

I am so sorry that you are feeling this way. Do you think it warrants a trip to hospital? -
Doing this is a really big step. Have you had your first appointment with your surgeon? They are the one who know what is likely to suit your body. It would be a discussion to have with them.

keep postponing to start my preop liquid diet.

Certainly leave it no longer. You can do it. I am day 13 of a 14 day diet of Optifast plan. Before I started it i was scared that I just wouldnt be able to do it. I also knew that If I cant do this now then I would never manage after having my Op. Yes, I did have a couple of headaches and bouts of nausea for the first five days but after that it got easier. Keeping busy is also good. I have done heaps of cleaning. Where I live must be in shock. This might be TMI but i feel a change in the shape of my body. Maybe that is the my shrunken liver talking. Stop thinking. Thousand of people have done this before. You can too. -

WOW! You poor thing. Certainly there is a different mood happening in the second picture. Hope you are truly on the mend now and that pills are easier to get down. How is your pain now? My op is not until Monday. It's Friday afternoon here and I need to isolate over the weekend. I have been rushing around to get things sorted as I live on my own. It is cold outside. Feeling the calm now. Time for some good stuff on Nexflix. I noticed the pressure cuffs (?) to prevent clots in your legs. Here (Oz) they have stockings that get rolled up from the feet. Thing is they never stay on my calves cos they always roll themselves back down. 😁 Be well and breathe. -
Wait, what????

Did Anyone Pre-Med The Day of Surgery?
Possum220 replied to You Are My Sunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be having my op on the 9th of this month a few days away. When I saw my surgeon I mentioned this to him and he called the anesthesiologist leaving a message to give me a pre med. Anxiety bites at me too. Hope everything goes well for you. -

Yay! You did it. Sounds like your body was put through it's paces. I am sorry that the pills hurt going down. You have certainly earned rest and lots of it. Soon this will be a thing of the past. You are now officially on your way to being a Sleeve Diva. This time next year you will be wearing a winners sash. Well done. :) -
Thanks for letting us know that things have gone well. On the road to recovery and wellness. Rest up and walk.

Please be kind to yourself. Your body has had a major change. You will find a new way to be in this world if you want to.

Hiya Merill. Not too far to go now. It's a bonus that your surgeon can fix your hernia at the same time. A two for one deal. My Surgeon poked me in the belly yesterday to see how my hernia was going. It will be nice that he can also fix this when I have my bypass on the 9th of this month. Are you on some liquid diet at the moment. It is getting exciting as it gets nearer. We got this Merill.
