I did have anxiety over what might happen after surgery. Truth be told apart from the very bad pain I had that took a very long time to go I have had a brilliant run. No dramas no nasty little surprises. I kinda buried myself in Dr Google and weight loss stories on you tube after surgery. Time has passed now and I am focusing on being health and eating well. The pendulum will swing in another direction. Focus on your new future. Life after WLS.

Two weeks since surgery! (And my easy crying lol)
Possum220 replied to bypass24jan2023's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The kick to the hormones after this major surgery is a massive factor in contributing to your emotional flux. Also dont forget that the anesthetic will also be playing merry havoc. It will be okay. 😊 -
Depends on what the surgeon did.

Convincing the doctor !

Depends on what your current BMI is. That question really is best left to the surgeon though. -
6 Months: Before and After
Possum220 replied to doobie31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Brilliant job Doobie, It really must have been easy if you werent counting the months post op. Your change has been dynamic. Keep up the great work. Ps gotta love those tops. -
This was an area I thought the least about. After my RNY I was surprised that problem aspects of my mental health resurfaced. Hard to tell if it from malapsorbtion of medications or the fact that I was no longer in a constant carb coma. This is an area that we still need to be careful of and make sure that your support system remains in place. Dont be afraid to reach out and discuss this with your doctor/psychologist.

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

Shall do and thank you. 😊 -
14lbs in a month is a lovely loss. I have seen it said that the weight loss can be slower when you have gone from a sleeve to a bypass. On this journey our emotions can really mess with us, Some days we feel up and the next we are down. I had a bad couple of days this week. It only took a small change to make me feel like I could do this again. I am also on bipolar meds and anti d's. Are you able to go for gentle walks? This will help your circulation and help the blood move around your body and help you in the healing process. Check in with dietician to get some advice on what things you can do at this stage. Might be small things will make a big difference. Breathe. 😊

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

Yesterday I went to the optometrist. Previously when they raised the chair in would moan and groan under my weight. This time it was a smooth and very quiet ride. Yay!. -
New year celebration
Possum220 replied to Tracy Bjerke's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Would be really good if you could ask your surgeon. When did you have your operation? -
Wasted all your time and money? You will have if you let this small bump in the road take you back to where you started. New Years Eve. Time for another reset to health. You got this.

Weight loss- Bypass to sleeve
Possum220 replied to pattyoj's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So you started at 253 and you are now 220? Seems like a difference of 33lbs. 33lbs is more than 2 stone. What is not to like about that loss. Weight loss is slower second time around. Stay off the scales for a little bit. Do something different. Take up a new hobby and distract yourself. -
Want to get weight loss surgery but am not getting approved
Possum220 replied to shonna1989's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What about your grand parents? I am sorry that this is happening to you. With the raft of things going on I wonder if weight loss surgery would bring about the changes you want? You have searched very hard to get answers. I wonder if asking Dr Phil for help would get you the help you need? He seems to have many specialists that are able to get answers, 🤗 -

I do feel for you. I take it that the endocrinologist ordered hormone levels to be checked. If not that it a place to start. What causes hirsutism? No something does feel off. Hope you can get to the bottom of it all. -
Some days I do find that I could eat more. Often that hunger accompanies my being bored. Other times I have It I cook more vegies to eat with my meals and that helps me feel fuller.

Head Hunger vs Actual Hunger
Possum220 replied to BlessedMomma91's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
He may have retired. Good Luck to him. I still find the things he says have merit and are helpful in understanding many aspects of where we find our selves on the bariatric journey. -
Are you currently on medications for diabetes?

Head Hunger vs Actual Hunger
Possum220 replied to BlessedMomma91's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, he does offer a greater perspective on most things in regard to WLS. I have spent many hours becoming better educated about this. He gives us a better understanding of the mind games that can happen. -

59 pounds since you started? That is epic. Don't dis those stats. Beginners yoga? What exercise did you do before the surgery? You are still healing. You cant be in a hurry. Dont be putting your muscles under mega stress so easily. Check in with your surgeon. What do they suggest as far as exercising goes? Pre surgery in May this year I would be all done in after walking past four houses. 80 pounds later I can now walk 3kms at least per day. I had to build up to that. I have a long way to go. I have to remind myself that this journey is a marathon and not a sprint (Despite the fact that I wish it were a sprint). Have patience. Your body is still healing. You are doing good.

6 month post op update

So glad that the stall has broken. Keep up the great work. -
So you have lost 25 pounds? Not a small achievement at all. Your body is still in healing mode. Give yourself a pat on the back. Scales dont tell you how much extra fluid your body has dealt with since the operation. It not like you can undo this operation. Have a little patience. Your body is doing what it needs to do. Love your body with good nutrition. It is going to be okay.

6 month post op update
Possum220 replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good to hear the progress you have made. I had my RNY done on the 9th May. My weight loss has slowed down this past month too. it is kinda a little bit odd this whole experience isnt it? Never done this before and dont know what to expect. Wouldnt it be nice to know what the road ahead would look like? Like yourself I do feel much better for my loss. I am basically just going for walks at this point. So far I can manage 3.5kms easily which is such an change after finding walking past four houses was enough to exhaust me. We got this.
