How was your orientation???

I chose Passion Parties because it is the classiest. We are not affiliated with the porn industry like most. Here is a good reason to choose Passion Parties (this company does not work with us and their opinion is not biased) Sex Toy Party Directory :: Throw a sex toy party or become a rep.

Im on thinnertimesforums for gastric bypass (they have lap band support too). My mom had RNY 4 years ago. She has kept off 100lbs, still has like 40 to go, but she has bad habits and has been in and out of the hospital. She smokes and drinks... bad bad bad.. so at least I know what not to do!
-
When I met with the surgeon she asked me why I wanted the lap band more than the gastric was because I didn't want to be in a ton of pain, or be in the hospital for too long. She told me that the gastric scars are the same, if not smaller because there is no port, the pain is almost equivilant, that I am healthy enough for either surgery without having to worry about complications (I have no other problems but my weight). She said with the gastric I will lose weight faster, have better long term success and the best part is... well to me.. is that I wont be able to tolerate sweets or carbs as I would the lapband. That's a biggy for me, I am a sweet/carb person and if I think I can eat only a little, then id eat more, stretch my pouch and it'd be all over. So ultimately the gastric is best, I'll lose faster, stay smaller longer, no mush stage too AND no foreign object. OH and less follow up, she said there aren't as many appointments unless I have problems. She said with both you'll need to take Vitamins for the rest of your life anyway, so why not do the one that has the best results :tongue_smilie:

You can do 10lbs by the 23rd! Reduce the calories, add some cardio and you'll be there in no time. I'm trying to do it lol! But i have 15 to go...I've set the 31st of Jan to do it, so I'm going to try my darndest. I'm not around much though (on here) because i've decided to have the gastric after meeting with my surgeon. ... did 4 hours of wii fit in 48 hours lol... but also had a ton of summer sausage and a bag full of fred's bread... eek

I've already had all my appointments until I meet the surgeons requirement of 240
-
Thats what happened with my psych appointment. I cried though lol, they called me at 7:30 (My appt was at 10) and told me that the doctor was sick and had to cancel and the next available was like a month out... really sucky. I ended up getting an appointment earlier than the next date, but still, what a hassle.

My surgeon is Park. She was really nice! I'd love a contest :rolleyes2: Friendly competition is great! My goal is to lose 15lbs by January 31st. But would love to lose it sooner! Message/email me sheenalane2004@yahoo.com :cursing:

I had my surgeon appointment today and I am now considering the gastric bypass because of the success rate and the scars are actually smaller (not like it matters no one will see my stomach anyways). She said besides your weight you are perfectly healthy and can do either surgery. Since I carry my weight in my lower body she said I only have to get to 240, that's 15lbs more  We set a goal date of January 31st, which she said was quick, since I only lost 8lbs since August. But now that we have a number, she said as soon as I lose the 15lbs I can call and make an appointment with the case manager to get my tests and my surgery date. Woohoo.. now for the decision and weight loss

I am going to Kaiser Richmond as well, I have attended my orientation, nutrition and psych appointments. I meet with the Surgeon on Thursday. Hoping he'll give me my goal weight and the go ahead, because I just need a specific number and a date to lose it by and I'll lose it. I just need goals. I'm on messanger if anyone wants to chat! sheenalane2004@yahoo.com

Hey Ladies! I know I referred a few of you over here at the orientation back in August? Im better with faces. Anyways, I meet with the surgeon on Thursday at 4pm. I'm only down 3lbs since orientation, had a lot of issues with business and kids, but it's better than being up. I did the pre-op diet for a week and lost 9lbs, but then I went to Vegas (again lol). That's my problem - vacations! I am a member of 24 hour but people are flaky and I need a buddy and motivation! I live in Fairfied with two kids under 3 years, own a construction company and Passion Parties biz, plus a full time college student. Fitting the gym in is imparitive and I am honestly waiting for the surgeon to give me a NUMBER and a date to lose it by. I need specifics. My email is sheenalane2004@yahoo.com if anyone wants to message me

Hi all! I am a 24 year old married mom of 2. Yesterday I did my 5 hour orientation at Kaiser Richmond - (hi to all that were there with me!) boy was it a lot of information! Well today is the first day of my pre-op diet. Not bad so far, I actually feel full. I'm having a problem with drinking Water an hour after eating, but think it'll be easier as I progress. Right now I'm trying to worry about only eating whats on the list and the amounts I am supposed to. Today is day 2 of no caffinee, day 1 of no gum, day 1 of chewing 30 times lol So my psych appointment is scheduled for September 30. The dietician said that I won't find out how much wait they want me to lose until AFTER my psych appointment. She said the surgeon will set the amount of weight I should lose before he'll perform surgery. BUT she said if I lose at least 10% by my psych appointment that they can schedule things closer together. So my goal is to lose 30 lbs with the pre-op diet (I am at 265 as of yesterday) My timeline doesn't seem TOO far away... Lose at least half (if not all) by September 30 - Psych Appt 2-4 Weeks Case manager (Nov 1) 2-4 Weeks Surgeon (Dec 1) Surgery 4-6 (Jan 30) So hopefully by Feb I'll be banded. Any advice?

I am staying on my pre-op diet plan today because I have lost 12lbs since Tuesday following it! I leave for Vegas on Tuesday!! -
Snacking/grazing is one of the biggest reason for weight regain ;(
-
It seems that you guys are on a two week pre-op diet.. Kaiser tells us to start as soon as orientation is over, which is fine for me. I have been doing very well with cravings. Kaiser's pre-op regimin is: no caffinee, no gum, no drinking calories, no carbonation, NO SNACKING! and we have a limited amount of foods to choose from. We can basically eat all meats, cheeses, fruits and veggies. We can only eat toast, taco shells, wheat crackers, cream of wheat/rice/grits for carbs. Dairy: Milk, or Yogurt since eggs and cheese counts as Protein on this pre-op diet. So my Breakfast is: 3 Proteins (usually an 3 ounces of meat or 2 eggs and 1 ounce cheese) 1 fruit serving 1 carb serving 1 dairy serving 1 fat serving lunch 3 protein 1 fruit 1 vegetable 1 fat 1 carb Dinner: 3 protein 2 vegs 1 carb 1 dairy 1 fat I started at 265 on Tuesday morning, I am down to 253.8 as of this morning!

I am staying on plan today because since starting the pre-op diet on Wednesday I have dropped almost 10lbs!!! I started at 265 and I'm down to 258! That's 8 lbs gone in 2 days (that was this morning) it could be water weight, thinner clothes, whatever.. but I'm staying on plan! I did eat an ounce of cheese for snack (not supposed to snack) but I didn't get to eat all my steak salad because we were at the doctors for 2 hours. :tt2: -
Are your doctors really recommending shakes? Mine said DO NOT DRINK YOUR CALORIES!! They repeated this over and over and over! Your doctor has some scarey recommendations. Mine said "keep your pouch as small as you can as long as you can and you'll be successful"
-
You need to contact your insurance. I am 265lbs 5'7" and I have any other problems, except that i'm tired a lot. Other than that I'm healthy (all my stats are perfect EXCEPT my bmi) and I qualify. It's been 3 days since my pre-op orientation and meeting with the nutritionist. Good luck!

I just started the Pre-Op plan yesterday, high protein, low carb/low fat, with no snacking, caffine, carbonated beverages etc.. I saw potstickers and mini tacos in the freezer.. made them.. and then made myself fish, I lost 3 lbs (water weight or not) in a day... I think I'll stick to my diet, my kids will eat half a taco each and they'll go in the trash! -
Anyone have any advice?

Hi everyone - Young Mom here

Thanks everyone! Thank god I'm signed up for this orientation because I almost cried when I didn't fit on one of the rides at six flags  Now i carry my weight very well... -
I am a 24 year old mom of 2. 29 months and 13 months, both boys. I have been married for 4 years next week and never thought I'd apply for lap band or gastric bypass. I am happy with who I am BUT after having my second child, I can not lose weight (i lost all the baby weight twice - nothing past that). I am currently 265, 5'7. BMI of 41.8. My body yo-yos with 7lbs.. so I could be 257-265 at any given time. I have tried weight watchers, but have a major problem with "feeling" full. I drink tons of Water but never have the full feeling. <---- which surgery does that mean they'll reccomend? My mom had GB 5 years ago and she's kept at least 100lbs off, but she still is a bad eater. My family and I eat a TON of fresh foods - mostly fruits. Shamefully our kids eat better than us. We have taught them that there is no dessert after dinner and that you don't eat if you're not hungry and definitly DONT CLEAR YOUR PLATE to get something else. My orientation is in Richmond next Tuesday. I have food allergies (thanks to my second son) to sulfates/sulfites and have to keep a 1 week food diary. What's the process after the orientation? I have orientation and then an appointment with another gal that afternoon - she said that way I dont have to drive twice. My main thing is I want to look the way I feel and more so FEEL the way I feel inside. I want the energy to be mobile with my kids and I want to be able to just eat what I need not more. I often don't get the "Im stuffed" feeling, not even after buffets! I am an entrepenuer. My husband and I own a construction company in Solano County. I am a Passion Parties consultant and own my own home parties advertising website. I want to get this over with before I get older. My PCP suggested the surgery last year (about 8 weeks after birth), but I went on phentermine. It didn't work this time (tried it before from online doctors). A year later I came back because I hadn't lost any weight - to which he said "You lost 60 lbs lol". - yeah.. that was the pregnancy weight - I meant I hadn't lost anymore lol! So that's where I am at right now. Keeping a food diary for next Tuesday.. Any advice? I have Kaiser Anyone have advice on what it costs? I have employee coverage until End of august (what does orientation cost) and then I'll be on the step's plan 40
